Okay, now to back track on my dandy little evening.

I was bored in jeuno and desided to go pop a new NM which spawns in M-Coast.

Now.

You pop this NM by tradeing slices of carp to 6 ??? at the time of 22-04.

Now.

Its all fine and dandy, I'm the only one there.

I trade my carp slices and go on my merry way waiting for it to pass 4:00

As it passes I head down river to check on the ???s to see if it spawned.

It didnt, so I head back up and start clicking the ???s once again. out of nowhere this 75 pld appears and takes MY nm that I popped with MY items.

For refrence the bastards name was motoko.

Anyway.

After he claimed MY nm, He pretended like he had done nothing wrong until I started curseing at him in japanese at which point he started laughing about taking my NM blahblahblah.

So I call a gm and get told there is 56 calls ahead of mine

we are still fighting and after a while I destroy his ego pride and any sense of self reassurence he might have had to which point he calls a gm on me.

now, keep in mind there were 56 calls ahead of mine.

2 minutes later I get a tell from a gm repremanding me for curseing and harrassing him.

NOW

How in gods fucking name did his call by not just pass my call, but 56 other calls?

???????????????????????????????????

I forgot to mention apperntly this NM spawns unclaimed even if your the one who traded the pop items.

Good fucking game SE.

Different GM staff for Japanese and English players. 56 English calls, probably not a whole lot of Japanese calls.

Easy. How many GMs are bilingual?

GM Issues

Though I steer clear of the Flameboards, I'll post on this one anyways. This is pretty safe to comment on.

There are 2 different groups of GMs.
There are GMs for Japan and related areas. They work at the SE's Tokyo HQ (the main SE HQ) and assist the immediate region for them.
The GMs that we mainly deal with are the ones that are in the US department of SE. I believe that building is in Seattle. I could be wrong on that one.

As I just stated, we deal with the US department of GMs for FFXI. So yes, the theory presented by Skaw is entirely correct. There were very few GM calls at the Tokyo department, therefore they were able to address your opposition's call before the US department could address yours.

No, it wasn't fair what the person did to you. In my opinion, they deserved what you gave to them. I would be pretty ticked too if that happened to me.

This brings a question to my mind though. Was your GM call observed by the GMs, or was it automatically cancelled due to another GM punishing you for your offense?

Bilingual GM?

I'm 99% sure I've read on these boards you must be Bilingual to be a GM.

This is almost correct. I was almost correct also with the Seattle location.

I did some double checking, I was indeed wrong. The North American location is in Los Angeles, California (according to the SE corporate site).

However, I'll have to correct whomever said that you -have- to be bilingual to be a GM. That's not entirely true.
Now, unfortunately, SE changed their jobs offers board, so I don't have the quote anymore.
However, having applied for various GM jobs at points in time (pretty much whenever a GM job was posted by SE), I know that the GMs in both locations do not have to be bilingual to be accepted.

Tokyo GMs need to be fluent in Japanese, while the North American GMs need to be fluent in English.
Being fluent in a 2nd language helps your chances of getting the job, seeing as FFXI is being served to customers world-wide. I'm not sure of the support that non-English speaking players really have as far as the GM service.
Knowing English for the Tokyo GM jobs will get you further ahead, as well as vice versa for the NA GM jobs. However, it's not a requirement.

Also of note, most MMOs have a precedence or "call weight" on different types of calls. Thus something with a call of "he stole my NM" would be outweighted by say.. "harrassment"

Thus.. how he may have gotten an answer before you.

The NM spawned claimed everytime I popped him...;/

But I didn't understand one thing, was he able to click the ??? and pop it from your item or did you pop it and he took it?

PS. Both are just as bad but I'm just wondering if people can pop the thing form my item :|
