Dammit, one of my favorite animes was just licensed today.... :cry: and of course it's during an awesome plot-arc. Dammit! Now my days of carefree(free being the key word) Naruto viewing are over. Anyone else here a Naruto fan and if so, what are your thoughts?

I came home today... hit my favorites button... went to Narutofan.com and read that... I've been hitting my head on my desk all day. Although, I'm pretty sure SOMEONE will sub it, its too popular for them not to. The manga has been licensed for some 2 years I think and people are still scanslating them... DONT STOP SUBBING!!!! *rams head through monitor*
 
You're overreacting. Just because you'll have to buy it now, doesn't mean you probably don't have 1-120 downloaded to watch at anytime you want. Lots of anime that I like has been licensed, I just plan to buy the DVD's. I'm surprised this didn't happen MUCH sooner actually.
 
I can't say that I am surprised. I wish it didn't happen, but we have been d/l on borrowed time anyways. :? I'm sure some groups will continue to sub it but my favorite ANBU/AONE will probably stop. I like Naruto but I am not sure I will buy the dvd's. Maybe if they have it as a value release, aka 5 episodes per disk, in japanese with subtitles, for $20. Yeah I might get those then. If they try to sell them 2 episodes for $30 they can lick my taint. :evil:
 
it's the life of the anime fan.

Enjoy the fansub then support the localized version . . . or by the Tiawanese versions with bad english subs for a quarter the price.
 
Hmm I actually read the link and I guess AonE won't drop the series but Anbu will. Interesting.
 
I guess that's good and bad. While I enjoyed the free downloads (I'm assuming this means they won't be available for free online anymore...legally) I'm looking forward to having them on DVD. I just hope the packaging is good. I don't want to pay $25-$30 for 3 episodes like how Farscape first came out.
 
Buying that first season of Farscape was PAINFUL! 2 episodes for $30. :cry:

As for the leagality of downloading subbed episodes anymore is dependant upon the contract of the liscencing. If they only bought the rights to distribute the first season then subbers will still leagally be able to distribute all episodes other than the 1st season. Again it will take time to see what will happen.

120? You mean 121^^ And I've decided Kimimaro is the most badass guy in the series thus far... I mean his technique! :shock: I won't ruin it for anyone who still has yet to see 121. :wink:

My biggest fear is that this will go the way of Kenshin. I mean... Naruto is by far longer than the Kenshin series, and to buy all of Kenshin it costs hundreds of dollars! I don't know about anyone else, but as much as I love Naruto, I don't have that kind of money. :cry:
 
I dont like that Toonami acquired it, but ti could have been the Fox Box, where some decent anime has gone to die. You know whats even wosre then this: wheni lost like episodes 1-65. Ugh. You can always read the manga that is scanlated still I believe if you want to finish out the story arc. This is one of my favorite animes by the way.
 
I hope they don't treat Naruto like Viz usually does. 3 Episodes a disc at 24.99, you can forget my dollar vote. I'll be waiting for boxsets for each season instead. They probably won't do as good of a job in translating as ANBU has. /cry.

This is bad news indeed.

I still want to see the first Naruto movie. ;_;
 
I'm worried about what one person said on one of the threads regarding Naruto being licensed >.> He said that if most of the people dont buy the DVDs and the whole NA Naruto franchise thing bombs, then they will go after the subbers for quick cash >< But if it becomes real big, then the subbers wont be hurting their business as much and they'll be less likely to take action.

I really hope they keep all the names of the techniques decent... Kagemane no Jutsu = "Art of me and my shadow" in the manga... It just ruins the whole feel when you hear something stupid like that -_-

I also heard that AonE is still going to sub it, but not with ANBU. I have a feeling Dattebayo will continue to sub it as well.

FACT: Anime is still a niche market therefore more expensive to aquire than your shite Nickelodeon shows. With a few exceptions like Ghost in the Shell.

If you love your anime and want a collection you have to pay.

So says my ~200 anime dvd's. :x I started to add up the costs of my obsession and I had to stop. I was just adding up my box sets Irrisponsible Captain Tyler, Uresia Yatsura, etc and the numbers started getting depressing. I am actually happy that I no longer enjoy anime as much as I used to. My wallet is better off because of it.

I stopped counting mine when I hit 300, and that was 2 years ago. I am afraid to count now. /em shudders to think what I could have used that money for instead

Sigh i'm behind, around episode 105 in the anime and chaper 225ish, near the end of kimimaro fight i think, i gotta read up to the time leap... ; ;
