started playing this lastnight, Now im no fan of Naruto, and have only seen maybe 4 or 5 episodes which were actually the arc of a segment that just was continued from each episode of one battle, i stayed away from the show because i hate annoying characters, aka Naruto. and i cant stand anime' that have those cartoony faces that pop up out of the blue in an otherwise serious lookin show.
But those 5 episodes i did see had none of that cartoony stuff and made me wanna play the game.
So knowing next to nothing about naruto, this game is pretty fun. While at first i could only think it was going to be very child like and directed at a younger audience, It does have its skill points that makes it difficult.
Part RPG, Part fighter, Part platformer. its actually nicely balanced, and knowing that im playing through the actually series and learning the actual show/manga while i play is another plus for someone who never got into the other two medias. It even plays clips from the anime' as you play.
The voice acting is well done and all dialogue is spoken, instead of just spoken on some scenes and text when talking to anyone else.
Performing Jutsus is pretty cool and a bit tricky at first to get down right since your timing has to be spot on, and while outside of battle its easy, in the heat of battle it tends to get tough since your trying to be quick and use the breaks you get to your advantage in the small time window you get to perform a jutsu in those breaks. And even if you get it off, it has the chance of being blocked since you choose the button combo that follows the jutsu and have to pull it off as well.
Side quests are ok, Ramen delievery is fun, and...sexy jutsu is just...funny.
The graphics are pretty smooth and soft on the eyes, some of the line work could have used a little touch up in the cell shading, like naruto's neck has no outline and during shadow jutsu he has no mouth.
My only worry is this game may end up being too short, from looking at the achievements and the quest list numbers, it doesnt seem like there is a whole lot, or much at all outside of the leaf village. I could be wrong and what is presented could very well be spaced out over time, like for instance you cannot lament all the lovelorn with sexy jutsu until you level it up some. And ive played quite some time already and have not come close to an achievement yet.
This game has me setting aside the other three games ive been playing to do a full run through, this game has actually proven to be pretty addicting and fun, and NOT annoying as i expected it to be. Certainly worth the price for fans and non fans alike.
