need a ww2 era history buff

[masterorion]

im having a bit of a brain fart atm. i build military dioramas and am working on a german winter scene atm. however, i cannot for the life of me think of where the germans might have been in the winter. basically, i am needing to know if they were in a mountainous area so i can decide wether or not there should be surface rocks or basic snow covered flat land. any suggestions would be appreciated also

Ardennes Forest in Belgium during the Battle of the Bulge 1944-45. Also see the Siegfried Line.

forgot to clerify something, its a "basecamp" diorama...not frontline if that helps

Maybe the town of Foy before the allied forces took control of the area?

Could put them in Russia for the winter, right before they were stopped by russians?

I don't know much about WWII so if I'm wrong, I'm sorry.
