I've been having a VERY rough time the past few Dynamis runs that WTF (WhatTheFlock) has been doing and I need some pointers.

My main problem is in Dynamis-San d'Oria, trying to pull one statue at a time without pulling one huge, massive link which includes the DRG NM.

I have an idea, but I want feedback from others before I give it a try.

My idea, is to try and stand close enough to see the statues that are on the other side of the doorway without catching aggro from the ones that roam the main path. Also, if I aggro the closest one, will the other 2 roaming the main path link, or is their aggro "line of sight" only? I only see them facing only 2 directions at any given time NW and SE. If all 3 are in the main path and I pull one while the other 2 are there as well, will they link?

Any help will be appreciated.

The 3 stones walking in and out of the 3 archways by the drg NM won't link with each other. But they can link with walkers behind in the area by the NM. The best way I've found to handle this is, first of all, to shoot each stone when its at its furthest point from the gate. Now as far as I know, whether the pops from that stone will link the walkers behind is a matter of luck (based on what song the brd orc uses when it pops, as in how long it just stands there).

I suggest handling this 1 of 2 ways.

1) You have someone watch your pull, and you wait near the alley entrance until you know if you linked the NM (this is assuming you aren't trying to pull the NM and all his buddies to the alley, which you can get away with if you have enough ppl). If it does link, you can head towards the mog house and suicide the train and let someone take the NM off of it back to the alley.

2) In my shell when our thf pulls those stones i stand by him and silence the bard orc that pops under the archway right away, if you can reliably stick the silence, the orc will not stand there buffing itself waiting for the walker behind to link, instead it will simply chase you down, avoiding any possibility of a link altogether. You can repeat this for all 3 of those stones as they pop the same mob types in the same relative locations.

Edit: Another way to handle the 1st strategy that sort of slipped my mind is to just run towards the fountain after your pull, then if you linked the train you can just go die while someone pulls the NM off, and if you didnt link you can bring the 2 orcs that chase around into the alley from the other side.

I'll give the Silence thing a try. I'm tired of MPKing my LS with this pull

Another thing. Is there a way I can get CLOSE to the first statue to where I can see the statue roaming on the other side of the doorway without catching aggro?

*ninja edit* - Another thing I just thought of. Does the same thing apply to the statues roaming near the gate to West Ronfaure?

Not really, I guess you could go have a look after he turns around. I may be wrong about this but I'm pretty sure the movers inside the gate area are in a set pattern relative to the outside movers (as in they turn at the same time), so it wouldnt make a difference.

I'm not really sure as far as how the movers by the NM behave, or what mobs are popped from the outside stones, we always suicide that gate. Just have your thf run in the gate area then back towards the east gate, have 2 ppl ready, 1 to claim the ext (walker in middle outside the gate) and another to get the smn NM and take them to the stables area.

Damn.

For ONCE I'd like to get the pull off without linking the cavalry. :shok:

I'll give the Silence thing a try though. However, I'll also have a look into the doorway when the 1st statue turns around so I can see where the other is. Usually one statue is moving faster or slower than the other so if I can pull the first statue as the other statue behind begins to move away, I think regardless of the position of the 1st statue, the Orcs spawn in the same spot. amirite?

Um....I'M the THF.

Um... ok, and yes the mobs should spawn in the same spot regardless of when you hit the stone. But, i'm 95% sure that the ideal time to hit the stone is when it reaches the furthest point from the gate and turns around (because i think the one behind it is doing the exact same thing).

And sorry I'm not the main puller in my linkshell, but I felt like I knew enough to help out with your 1st question.

You can pull it linkless 100% of the time.

Watch your compass. When the walkers behind the wall is walking towards its furthest point, wait untill the stone you want to pull is walking towards the little stalls. Walk in front of it (between the gate and its back), and wait untill it turns. It'll now aggro soon as it turns at its furthest point from the gate, and will be link free since the other statue is at its furthest point. Or, at the very least, walking towards it.

You can pull both gate stones like this. Compass is your friend. Additionally, for the first gate I'd recommend running towards the fountain until you've got it down (and maybe even when you have it down in case you mess up. Shit happens). For the second gate, I'd recommend clearing the area in front of the AH so that you can pull second gate past there in case you link them.

The first stone will always buff up with the longest buffs, or AM you so it stays at its spot long enough for the other stone to link, then that stone will bring everyone. It has been written.

eh forget about not linking the stones, it will make your shell that much stronger when they get used to it. Take a Look at Encore Dynamis shell, they can almost pull half of the zone and still make it out with over 75% of the people still alive. :P
But if you really want some pointers i'd suggest doing one run with a shell that you know is good and shadow the puller. The best way to learn is to watch and do rather then reading it off of the fourms or a guide.

That's only partial true. Yes, you do need luck for it to not cast long spells. However, it doesn't ALWAYS do that. We've pulled both gates completely link free down to the NM many times.

Most of the time we just don't care anymore, though, since we survive either way anyway.

100% way to pull those w/o link: I hope you are a radar job.

Pull the one in the main path when the one moving on the other side of the wall, which you see on the radar, just started moving back. Stones are sight and close sound, so it wont "see" the pops. do the same for the 3 stones in the main path and you're done. If you link anyway, train everything to the moghouse and have someone get the NM from the train. Those stones are easier to pull once the mobs are poped.

other possible way to pull this is have someone aggro the ones by NM and die inside the gate, when someone aggro the 3 stones of the main path and bring them to camp. its very efficient. You can also "snipe" those a la dynamis beaucedine, if you have BLMs move up on the rampart.

2nd gate works the same, except there are 3 moving stones + 1 non moving so it can be a consequent pull (including BST mobs).

Six rules for pulling dynamis:

1 - You will screw up, deal with it and learn how not to do it again. Having a spotter can help you learn what went wrong, and help you figure out how to fix it.

2 - You will die a lot while you learn how to do various pulls right, unless you learn by watching a veteran puller.

3 - Don't be afraid to try something new, worst thing you can do is cause a wipe, if you're smart the worst thing you'll do is die yourself.

4 - Know what your shell can handle, if you get a link that they can't handle, die in a safe spot.

5 - Know what stones cause repops, know where the repops are, and make sure your shell knows when you pull them.

6 - Peregrine is a god, NA's were incapable of beating the cities before he showed us how to.

Your leaders should understand that you won't be perfect at pulling, and will make mistakes early on. A spotter is your best friend, they can help you improve your pulling, fill in for you as a puller when needed, help the alliance know what they need to focus on for a pull (HP/MP stones, NM's, mnks, etc), and assist you in some of the complicated pulls (there's some non-suicide pulls that can be best handled by having a 2nd person there to voke, silence a mob, etc).

LOL, I see what you did there.

Well, Dynamis night has come and gone, and when it came to the pull...

I managed to pull the first statue without links. /joy

What I did was I waited for the statue to begin moving away from the doorway since I noticed the statues were moving towards/away from each other in unison. I delayed it just right, Bard sang it's song, and only the statue and the THF and BRD orcs came. Then I tried on the 2nd statue, and here's where I messed up.....

I did not realize that the statues also linked by sound if it was close. I pulled the 2nd statue right as it turned around. It caused big link and wipega. However, the BLMs and everyone else were able to kill the statue for time extension and the 2 mobs associated with it so that I was able to go back in, clean up some of the mess, and sack pull the DRG NM without much trouble.

I THINK I know what to do now regarding that pull, thanks for all of your help. I appreciate it much.

As for drops. RDM, BST, and MNK AF dropped. No 100cc pieces, though. :irked:

ok, if u can pull 1st one perfectly then ur good. why? Because then u can do 2 things 100% safe.

1. either have someone aggro stuffs inside the gate and die here, while u bring stuffs outside the gate to camp.

2. pull the ones inside the gate to camp, the stuffs outside wont link if u pull the middle mover when its further from the archway. Do it if u think ur group can manage 4-5 stones and 6-7 mobs (i consider this now a doable pull for our group of 25-30ppl, wasn't always the case :p)

like stouter said, learn things by doing mistakes thats how ur shell will progress :p. i dont even dare tell u what we did on our first sandys cause i find it rediculous now, but was working kinda, but long lol; and u wanna save time. All u need to pull a dynamis is to know where the trigger NMs and the extensions are. After that its just a matter of experience and ur ls specifics for how u will pull.
