Well a few months ago I was given permission to install FFXI at my work computer, and when I first did this I ran into the problem of not being able to install ToAU expansion because it was a dvd rom, and unfortunately my pc here at work did not have a dvd rom drive, so wasn't able to install that expansion which is fine with me... however, my CoP and ZM expansions are cd rom, which SHOULD have installed correctly.

The problem i'm running into is that when I log into my account, when it gets to the point to ask you if you agree to the terms and conditions and you click "accept", the next question says that something to the effect of my expansions not being registered or installed and indicating that I can not access areas associated with those expansions.

I tried going into the "Register ID" menu, and it says that they are currently registered, and considering that ZM was attached to my regular FFXI install disks, i'd assume it should be installed as well.

Any ideas why I can't access my CoP and ZM expansions? (FFXI + ZM were in one install set, and CoP in a seperate install set)

Thanks in advance

Have you registered for expanded services? Most people tend to forget this when they install expansions and wonder why they can't access certain areas

When it says that, its referring to the ToAU areas. You can likely access the CoP and ZM areas, have you tried to do either yet? I have ZM and CoP on my second ps2, but not ToAU, and I get that message everytime I log on as my main (say, I dont want to bust out the other ps2, so I just log into that account). Stoneribs, not having ToAU on that ps2, has no access to ToAU areas. Veovis, registered on a system that -has- ToAU installed on it and has ToAU access, gets that message everytime I log onto the other ps2.

Complicated, I know, but the jist of it is...If you have a character on a system that has ToAU installed on it (along with the other subsequent expansions..I dont think you can install ToAU without ZM and CoP already installed anyhow), and you use that account to log onto another machine -without- ToAU installed, you'll get the message that you cant access those expansion areas.

If i'm being too dense, I can kindly clear it up upon request.

Yeah, you can still login and play, its just saying you can't access the areas of the expansion you don't have installed because, it isn't installed. So as long as you aren't logged out in a ToAU area then you should be fine.

I'll have to double check tomorrow, but i'm pretty sure that I can't access ZM areas because a few weeks ago I tried to ride the airship to Kazham and wasn't able to get past the galka. Then there was a time I was doing teleports, and tried to do a tele-yhoat and the spell would stop casting at 80% so I determined that it had something to do with me not installing the expansions correctly.. of course I didn't care at the time, so I never bothered with it.

But curiosity is finally getting to me, and i'd really like to figure out what the problem is.

And I'm assuming i've already registered the expansions, because i've been playing them on my home computer just fine and from what i've read, once you "register" them, they become "locked" to your account and so as long as the expansions are installed on whatever computer you're playing on, they'll be available...

But that's where my problem lies, I'm pretty sure I installed everything correctly when I first started this up on my work computer because i've been playing without expansion areas for 2 months during my lunch hour just fine. I assume that because FFXI was installed just fine, that at the bear minimum I should also have ZM because as I said, that expansion is included on the install disks for FFXI.

Not sure if that helped any ; ;

Well the expansions are registered to your Content ID not the system you play on so that shouldn't be an issue. Only thing i can think of is that you don't have it installed properly or at all.

Registering the expansions is required on every computer / console that FFXI is installed on, regardless if you've already done it before. This unlocks the files that you installed with the ZM and CoP cd's. I doubt it's referring to the ToAU content since you haven't installed that yet.

I had problems accessing Dynamis after the last time I rebuilt my home computer. Logged out, registered the content, logged in for an update then I could get into Dynamis. I'd had the content installed the whole time but never registered it.

I don't remember where the screen was to register the expansion packs, so I can't help you there. You'd think Register ID would be the one but if it's telling you they're already registered... I dunno. Doesn't make sense, is there anything under the Content ID menus?

It's on the same page as registering a new Content ID. On the other side of that specific page, says Expanded Services or something.

Got to work this morning, and decided to pop in my install disc #4 just for the hell of it to see if i'd missed installing the expansion somehow...

...

And yeah, apparently I did because immediately the "Rize of Zilart" installation menu popped up and away it went, installing the files.

*feels like such an idiot*

Thanks for all the help!
