I'll make this brief.

I always used my USB connector to get online but it melted, I don't know how. Now I know I have the ability to get online with my Wireless router I just don't know how. When I click search for an access point on my DS I get the message: "The acess point's security settings are not supported by the Nintendo DS. For help, visit www.nintendowifi.com." I figured that my DS is detecting my router but can't get in because of a security settings on it. Of course I went to the site and that's where I learned that. What I couldn't find on the site is the STEPS on HOW to lower the security settings. That's where I was hoping anyone eles could come in.

If I click on Manual Setup it shows things to input such as WEP and SSID which I don't know what that is.

There's also AOSS which is some compatible access point. I'm not really sure what that is either. I'm scrumaging through my room and my celler looking for the instruction booklet that came with the system but can't find that either.

I've become so frustrated with this and I hate coming on here everytime I have a technical problem, but if anyone can insturct me on how to get into my wireless router to lower the security settings without causing any kind of harm for my computer, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Looking at mine, it says Wireless-G 2.4 LINKSYS. I guess its a Linksys? I don't know.

Yes, Linksys would be the brand.

The DS doesn't have features for certain security features on routers. It can only deal with either no password, or the most limited encryption available which is the WEP. If you have your router running as WPK, it won't work with your DS.

I have no idea if your router is on WPK. You have to check the settings yourself to see what kind of password protection you used lol

I guess I'll have to ask my uncle. He came along and set up our computer. It's just a pain in the ass to get ahold of him. Any idea on how I go about checking the settings?

Normally when you select your wireless connection from the list of wireless connections your router is able to pick up, it will either connect if there is no password, or ask you for the password. On that screen it asks for the password, it should tell you what type of encryption you have.

I've searched through the linksys website and I found what I have to do. I forgot the username and password to get in and I know it was changed, so I have to find a cd to reset my router. I've found step by step instructions on there.

Thanks for the help Lanien.

No problem. Glad I could help ^^

ugh why do people change the login info to routers, it's so stupid unless you're at an office or somewhere where theres a lot of connection leeches

anyway, you need to change your encryption to WEP 128-bit. There will be a 32 character code that is input into the wifi settings of the DS, and it's smooth sailing from there.
