Well I've been jumping from game to game lately, and I really wanna start playing FFXI more again.

Thing is, money is becoming a problem again and frankly I regret having my 56 levels in Smithing. Desynth is pretty good money but frankly it's slow and it's sorta unreliable. The good parts of Smithing were Haubergneon but now that Damascus Ingot is in the shithole, that is sorta gone as well.

I'm a 58 PLD and thinking of playing WAR once i get PLD to 60. WAR is right now at 37.

I have around 1.5 mil and I'm wondering if you guys can give me advice as to what are some ideas. I dont have the extensive time to camp NMs and I'm way too low for HNMs. BCNMs require intelligent people and most of my friends have already stopped playing the game.

Woodworking seems quite profitable in Shihei and I looked through and planned out a path for myself and it doesnt seem to expensive to level up at all. I was wondering if any high level woodworkers can give me advice about the HQ rates.

I'm sorry if I come off as a "helpless leech" who is too lazy to look for solutions, but the whole thing of money has frankly been the main reason I dont want to play. I have a Byrnie that i really wanna try at 60 =p cuz it looks cool hahahahaha.

Well, if you want a steady income that can pay for itself and get a decent ammount of money down the road, you might want to try cooking. It's got a profit that's significantly lower when compared to other crafts, but the cost to level it is also close to nothing. Assuming you spend money wisely and have enough patience for everything to sell to other players instead of NPCs, 1.5 mil is probably enough to get you pretty close to 100. It's pretty profitable because everything you make is consumable - in other words, people will keep buying them. There's also no super-expensive synths that only profit if you HQ them (like sniper's rings or scorpion harnesses). There are a few downsides, though. It's cheap to level cooking, but the profit is rather low as well (it is a profit, though). Also, most synths take up a lot of ingredients, and getting those ingredients can be difficult - you'll probably wind up travelling all over the world in order to get everything from NPC vendors, so an airship pass is a must (and leveling cooking on a mule isn't such a hot idea). Plus, it can take a while for everything you make to sell, and you make a lot while leveling. Finally, the final synth for cooking (cursed soup) requires an Ex item dropped by bees in the Crawlers' Nest (Royal Jelly), so it might be a while before you get that high. Of course, there's other benefits to having high cooking; there's a lot of food that's not made often but has good stats.

Since you already have high lvl smithing i suggest checking a craft list for everything from 1-57 and see what items you can make profit off of. See what lower level items you can HQ. If you wanna get woodworking up though. I think its like 500k to get to 60, and you cna HQ she-hei at lvl 60 pretty good, getting 66 kidna often, and 99 every 10 synths around (this is all guesses actually).
