Working on my clothcraft a bit...and was wondering what people think I should do next, Velvet Cloth (Silk Thread x1, Wool Thread x2, teaches to 45) or Silver Thread (Silk Cloth x1, Silver Ingot x1, teaches to 47). I'm personally thinking Velvet Cloth because it'd be slightly cheaper and such, but I dunno which would cost/profit more and such (cause I'm dumb and stuff...and bad at math  )

Any feedback/opinions? Thanks fer your time ^^

*edit* Forgot to mention, I'll be doing this at 42 cloth, respectively =P

Do you have the required goldsmithing (or is it smithing? I forget) skill to synthesize Silver Thread?

Do Niether!

Insect Wing x 2 & Wind Crystal.

They will take you to 52. They cost next to nothing and if you have any patience, they actually sell for quite a margin.

I started Insect Fletchings at 40.

Fletchings are your friend.

10-22 Yagudo Fletchings
30-42 Bird Fletchings
40-52 Insect Fletchings

You are also not the orignial poster lol.

22-30=

22-27*: Heko Obi: Cotton Cloth x 2, Grass thread x 1 & Earth Crystal
about 1,500g/synth
Ets. Synths: 60
Total Cost: 90,000g(To 27)
Cost recovery: about 10,000g(I think)NPC
*Cap is 27, take it to 23/24 and switch to Fly lure(See below)

23-30(cloth) 2-8(bone): Fly Lure: Chocobo Feather x 1, Bat Fang x 1, Animal Glue x1 & Earth
about 600g/synth
Est Synths: 100(Roughly)
Total Cost: 60,000g
Cost recovery: UNKNOWN These sell for a profit in the AH, but I sold em to an NPC for a considerable loss.

Shinobi-Tabi sells so slow though...

I did them as well but at the time the New equiptment came out and everyone needed cotton in any form, Thread, Raw, Cloth etc... And Shinobi-Tabi was a waste of gil...

Plus: Shinobi-Tabi: Saruta Cotton x 1, Cotton Cloth x2 , Grass Thread x 1 & Earth.
Cost: 2,300g/synth (Cotton ~500, Cloth ~800, x 2, Thread ~free, crystal ~free)
I made about 20 stacks of these between 30-33, and I still am selling em...
Nearly 2 months later. I am using em up faster than they are selling.

Phraust, where are you selling them? They sell everywhere overnight for me. Oh well, maybe I"m just willing to take a 500 gil hit per stack to sell them (I make a profit ANYWAY). I can sell 7 stacks overnight in jeuno, no problem.

Don't buy your materials directly from AH (besides saruta cotton). Cotton is 4k/stack, cloths are 8-9k/stack on ah, but cheaper if you make them yourself (if you know how, hehehe). Anyway, I turn 10K profit/stack of ingredients when the market is up.

lol where else would I sell them?

I always sell em in Jeuno, I find they actually did sell 'better' in Kazaam's AH cause of all the lazy miners ^^; good profit there too.

I will still stand by my original post though, I wanted to level quickly and cheaply. 10k/lvl is good I think. and getting from 30 to 40 was really Dirt cheap, no need to make Tabi when you hit 30.

22-27 Kaginawa but you need smiting at 10 it will take it to 15
27-33 Shinobi Tabi

You will make craploads off these if you play your hand right.
If you do Heko Obi... ha ha ha ha ha ::laughs continuesly:: I bet that cost you alot didn't it. ::Snickers at people who follow Allas crappy guide::

33-42 bird Fletching A loss I know ; ;
42-52 Insect fletching, ppl undercut and I still sell mine for 1200, ha cause they suck at life and need to learn economics.
52-53 Silk Cloth Dont sell em you will need em

WARNING CLOTHCRAFT POST 53 IS PURE LOSS UNTIL ABOUT 72

53-62 Green ribbions Extremley slow lvling with 400 gil loss excluding failures and assuming you make your own threads
62-72 Either Blk Chocobo Fletchings or silk headbands I am here and trying to figure out which hurts less

Fletchings are just a pain in the neck, on your inventory and getting rid of them. I liked velvet better...although it was more expensive to MAKE, it sold for a small profit and was easier to carry around. Fletchings are cheaper but get bulky on the inventory.

The beuty of a San Odarian mule.

But yea there where alot of tips back and forth but I mad gil so it was worth it. Even now I am still making insect Fletching, stupid people have broght down the market form a solid 1200 to 900 and brought prices of insect wings from 400 to 800.

Me I still sell mine for 1200 and they all still sell regardless of what other people do. Damn craft PLers are anoying cause they upset the market wherever they go. Can't wait until they get to green ribbions. ^^

Well shucks I have a sandoria mule. I also had just gotten done PL'ing smithing to 60 and had roughly 40 stacks of darksteel boltheads... orz

So the last thing I needed to do was stack up more junk on the mule... anyhow, if you got the room to do fletchings, that's an alternative to Velvet, I just happened to like doing the item that wasn't going to be jacked up in the guild from other PLers.

And yeah, I am one as well... I raise the price of items because I don't have the patience to take 6 months to get a level in my craft of choice, and sell them way below profit to get rid of them faster. But hey, if you have the means to do it, getting to the ROI faster is better.

ROI? Sorry not familiar with the term you refering to the Vermilion Cloak/Haubergan stage?

My freind got Smithing to lvl 90 had all the guild items. Figured he ahd a decent shot at Heaubergan. had a ful fail lost about 1.75 milion and sold his acount for about 1k total. And Yes he knew all about elemental corelation.

Those "Ultimite Items" are realy iffy at best. Take Vermilion you make 50-100k for the synth, that means you need 15-30 sucess in a row without failing once to be able to full fail without your gil supply screaming in agony. To me they are not worth the risk unless you are real close to 100.

The real gil is made off Desynthing and +1ing on materials like Ninja tools.

Alot of people who PL thier craft do not seem very sure how or where they will make the gil back. They just think that as they get higher gil will flow into thier pockets.

I'll admit it when I started Clothcraft I was like, "I am going to make me a Vermillion and sign it" Well I am going to make one, I still need a Vermillion, and if someone wants to supply the materials fine by me.

And if you want to PL your craft to lvl 60 and take a huge loss again its fine, not sure what your hurry is, or how you will make bakc what you lost, but ok thats fine. I do reserve the right to grind my teeth when I see one of my main sources of income fall by the day and I am still able to sell it for optimum price. I jsut can no longer sell 30+ packs a day. Economics should be mandatory before playing.

Mmm...ROI = Return on Investment.

The power items are a risky business. I don't go for them unless I have the money to blow and it's sort of like a trip to the casino, fun in small doses, but risky in large ones. I have an agenda where I'll synth 1 power item, and a bunch of smaller items that turn a decent profit. Maybe you aren't researching your craft enough but there are other ways to make decent money without risking your savings. But if you don't have that money to blow initially, I'd suggest slowly working it up before you shoot for the high hoops. Usually, 2 smaller profit items with less risk add up to that power item with huge risk.

Clothcraft probably has it's profit items, but it doesn't necessarily have to be the Vermillion cloak or items that require a huge investment. My friend made a decent fortune off a skill up item, it's a rare as heck HQ rate but it was easily a clean 1.5mil profit. And from what I know it doesn't cost more than a low 5 digit price to make.

A lot of items also have a margin in which you'll lose money on the NQ, but make massive fortune on the HQ. Usually you make these expecting to get the HQ which will negate the losses that it took to get it. Not necessarily meaning you're guaranteed to get this as such, but with the right knowledge you will.

BTW, was that guy Jebustherussian? :[ Sucks he quit over that...I didn't know thats why he left. Well like I said in another post, the fail rate on all synths past the trivial level are constant, as in, that level 5 synth will still fail at the same rate for a lvl 5 as it will for a lvl 100, as it will for a lvl 500 in that craft (were 500 possible). It seems to hover around 3-5% based on day/moon. There's no stopping this.

Yea it was Jebus. Still bummed out about him quiting, and yes the HQs are VERY nice. Its just I am not sure I want to be risking that short of 90+. I did do the researching cloth craft, or at least I think I did. I was turning a nice profit except for 2 stinches, one in bird fletching and the seconf in green ribbions. Hell I even made money of kenpogis. Even then I did my best to minimize me lost.

Acounting in farming and selling a bit of armor after I initialy started, assuming I did that at the begining, I started Clothcraft with about 300k. Now I have roughly 150k 45k guild points and I am lvl 60 Clothcraft. Not to shabby in my opinion.

The key is to go with what makes you gil and where. Also if you can open up new markets. For some reason before me Kaginawa did not sell in Bastok, not sure why, the last sale was like 4 months before me. Now? I opened the market I guess to people in Bastok and Norg who needed Hojo for lvling or some such. I think like 3-4 packs sell daily and I have not sold there in awhile. As I said I moved on but I will be coming back very soon.
