Need some advice. A RL friend of mine has returned to the game after a 2+ year absence. So he is unbelievable behind. He doesn’t have access to Abyssea, so I need to figure out the most effective method to power level him until he does and I can get him in there. He has MNK56, NIN2x something and, no clue where his DNC is at. Not surprising, we are having trouble getting parties at these levels that I can PL and they can mass kill and him soloing with me PLing doesn’t seem to do much.
So I need advice on a leveling path for him. So much of the game has changed since I was at those levels, I’m not sure what people are doing now a days.
Thanks

Honestly, it's probably going to suck for him to start. My advice would be to pick a job and just tough it out. If he wants to stick with Monk, I'd start him by leveling his subs (at least Warrior and Ninja) to 49-50. Solo/Duo it out while seeking, and just hope that he can stick with it. If you have some friends that will let him leech off an Abyssea party, that would be huge also. The game is at a point where it isn't all that lowbie-friendly anymore. Luckily just about anything anymore can be low-manned, so getting him gear and such shouldn't be much trouble. It would also be relatively cheap, which is a plus. Those 60-70 levels aren't going to be much fun, but once he gets through it, it should ease up significantly.

I just returned from a decent break, and have gotten kind of caught up in only two weeks, but I had the benefit of having a handful of 75-80's and fully leveled subs for the most part. My friends took pretty good care of me along the way, so I'm getting back to the point where I'm just above sucking. It's nice because it's pretty casual friendly for the most part anymore.

just because you got some atma's doesn't mean we don't hate you any less faggot.

On topic: There are still SMN burns, and Chigoe Burns, though a little harder to set up these days.. still equally effective. Pre-oldschool Merit pt's, East ronfaure S levelsync are the best EXP short of abyssea, and burns.. his skills won't be capped, but he can work on that in abyssea whiffing on mobs and getting merit points once he's 99.

I'm in a similar boat with my subs and Dragoon. The thing is I understand that leaching in Abbysa is the new thing but I really hate that idea...especially for Dragoon. The reason for this is that I want to learn how to play the job and find out if I really wana do this at lvl 90.(maybe I'm the only one like this?)

I've just about decided that I'm gonna have to start sending tells all over the place to people doing FOV to get stuff done to 50(and up to 75 in the case of dragoon). That's another thing your friend can do: Fields of Valor(FOV). Monk would probably excel at killing EPs that are on those book pages :)

I know alot of us hate making parties(me included) but it seems like the only way I can level on my terms and get skillups. The worst part is hunting replacement party members..yuk!

I'm wrestling with the idea of coming back but I don't know if I'd actually be able to do it. I'd have to buy all the Abys areas which is a bitch.
