Needs tips for lvl 50 nin

yeah I actually did swap gear @ Jin as well, but I didn't notice a big enough jump in dmg to ever be called a DD before 75, and up until then I was still using Jin to hold hate, and yes the gear swap helped a bit just for that aspect.

you can dd as soon as you get blade:jin really

when I turned 60 I had a lot of old dd gear from warrior so I was able to do very good damage, I was even able to test it out in a LS party that wanted me to DD.

if I recall my setup was

sole sushi+1

head: voyager
neck: chiv chain
body: haubergeon+1
hands: o.kote
legs: r.k. breeches
feet: fuma kyahan
belt: potent belt
back: amemet mantle+1
rings: raja's, jaeger(hq 54 str ring for jin)
katanas: kabutowari+1, sairen
ammo: fire bomblet
earrings: spike earring x2

I broke 1000 on Jin several times. this was on the crawlers in Aydeewa

and before you say "holy shit you're rich" yeah I was on tymon I'm broke now though :(

Sure you used a fire bomblet and not core? ;)

If anyone is having trouble finding a good piece of gear for feet to ws in and you're looking to up your ws damage.

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Rutter_Sabatons

Easy to get, and free(unless you buy the pop item). Please do not use haste gear for ws.

The Lv62 Racial gear feet are also pretty good depending on your race. Hume Marine boots are STR+3 DEX+3 for example.

I honestly don't remember, it was one of the 2. i'm thinkin' nin can't use bomblet so it was probably core

I remember camping that damn bomb in rancor forever for it..

They can, it's just not equip-able until level 70.

Strictly speaking of level 50~ (Some of us forget we're trying to limit an argument to a specific level range).

Hate will forever be an issue. Accept it. I can vaguely remember my days of leveling Ninja on things like Toramas and bats in King Ranperry's Tomb. I sadly do not remember most of my techniques since it's been so long. But macroing in Enmity for something like Provoke is never a waste of time. Especially if you're using Windower Macros. You'll spend a few minutes setting up a macro you'll end up using every 30 seconds. Worth it? Pretty easy to see.

Don't underestimate Blade: Chi, I could dig around for a screenshot of a 1k+ Blade: Chi on a Tonberry NM once but... other than that, it can do upwards of 400-500. Having a nice macro for WS damage can be beneficial. More importantly it can be FUN!

I used a parser when I first got curious about my damage as a way to hold hate. And found out with proper diligence during leveling, I could beat quite a few DD's starting in the mid 50's. Even easier after acquiring Blade: Jin of course.

There won't be much you can do when your friends decide to start spamming their weaponskills at 80% and pull hate for the remainder of the battle. But once they're over it. You'll get into a groove and nothing will be particularly difficult. You don't need the ultimate gear to succeed. Just stay diligent with your shadows. Always try to never take damage. Trust in your support jobs. And let the DD do what they do best, go crazy.

Take the advice that most of the people posting in this thread have to offer, and you won't turn out like this guy did.

Shortening recast is very important to utsusemi recast (provoke as well).

This comment made my day. Thanks for the valuable tip Lyle.

how do you use windower to do macros? Does it allow for more then 6 lines? Please enlighten me, thx

An example of a windower macro looks like this:
input /equip head "Empress hairpin";
input /equip neck "Chivalrous chain";
input /equip ear1 "Velocity earring";
input /equip ear2 "Evasion earring";
input /equip body "Haubergeon +1";
input /equip hands "Ochimusha kote";
input /equip ring1 "Ulthalam's ring";
input /equip ring2 "Rajas ring";
input /equip waist "Swift belt";
input /equip legs "Royal Knight's breeches";
input /equip feet "Marine M boots";
input /ws "Blade: Jin" <t>;
wait 2
input /equip head "Empress hairpin";
input /equip neck "Peacock charm";
input /equip ear1 "Velocity earring";
input /equip ear2 "Evasion earring";
input /equip body "Ninja Chainmail";
input /equip hands "Ochimusha kote";
input /equip ring1 "Ulthalam's ring";
input /equip ring2 "Sniper's ring";
input /equip waist "Swift belt";
input /equip legs "Arhat's hakama +1";
input /equip feet "Arhat's sune-ate";

You make them in notepad and make sure you save them with a name that will preferably tell you what it is for whatever. As you can tell, this is my Blade: Jin macro. So you the file in your scripts folder. You get into the game and when you go to make your macro, it looks like this:
/console exec (w/e the filename you saved it under as).txt

It is fun once you get a hang of it and you'll fall in love with them like I did lol.

wait.. can this be done with the built in windower? or is this a third party program I would need to download to do this?

This is with the unofficial windower. I've heard of a way that with the way the macros are set up to be now that something to similiar to what I posted can be achieved but you'll have to hit the same macro a couple times and what not. That is another reason why I <3 windower macros...1 easy button lol.

I leveled NIN not all that long ago, I did it decently, but knowing what I know now, I could have done better in some places. First off, screw stacking evasion for the most part, you have a BRD so you should be getting haste from the healer, march and minuet or madrigal all the time with elegy on the mob. Your timers should be low and the mob should attack rather slowly even without slow although you can use it if you need. However, at your level using too many enfeebles is not worth it hate wise, in the same amount of time, you can pull more hate with melee damage so use sparingly, probably best if you're doing pulling which I doubt.

Second, stack on haste and accuracy with everything else using DD pieces. I think Tymon's setup a couple of posts back looked rather nice and similar to my own. Your only options for haste are Fumas and Swift Belt (speed if you're loaded) which are both very decent choices, but do not bother with the 2% haste belt, it's not. For accuracy, use dual snipers, pcc, and jujitsu gi. Rajas is a nice alternative, but sniper gives more acc. After that, it's basically load on +attack pieces.

A good setup should probably look something like this:

TP:
Ranged: Bailathorn
Head: Voyager's Sallet
Neck: PCC
Earring: evasion or attack earrings, preference
Rings: Snipers x2
Hands: O.Kote
Body: jujitsu Gi
Back: Bat Cape or similar, attack pieces are meh until amemit, lvl 61
Waist: Swift or Life Belt until you get swift
Legs: Not much, no DD pieces I can think of until level 55
Feet: Fumas

WS:
Earrings: Attack earrings
Rings: Rajas/STR ring
Waist: Potent seems decent, never used
Feet: Federation Kyahans or RSE, whichever is better.

You can use AF body for TP, it gives the same delay reduction as a Suppa, 5%, but you lose out on a lot of accuracy which more than likely you'll really need.

Now, as for keeping solid hate, it'll never happen unless your DDs are gimp or holding back, neither of which will be beneficial for your experience/hour. In that case, the best way is to either sub NIN or something suitable enough to negate enough damage to not be a burden. I assume you'll just be doing TP burns so spam WS whenever you get TP to keep hate, Retsu is a great WS and Chi is also good. I preferred Retsu only in part to the additional Paralyze effect even if Chi is slightly better in damage. Keep Berserk up whenever you can, it's the best for damage increase.

The only downside I have to the two handed update, I think it was a blessing and a curse. The damage increase I can fully understand, it was entirely warranted to bring those class of weapons up to par, but the accuracy increase, I find very vexing. The reason I say this is because two handers don't need sushi while NIN does and with a BRD, the issue of madrigal versus minuet is quite annoying. You'll be fighting colibri soon and you won't be using sushi for those (use mithkabobs, their cheap and you'll spend less than sushi normally) so accuracy will be an issue for you, but not 2 handers. If you can, get Madrigal on colibri, it'll help you keep hate far more than Minuet will.

I think that's mostly it, anything else I think should be obvious enough or has been covered.

Edit: I totally forgot about Luisant set, it was around when I leveled NIN, but it was super expensive. I never bothered with any of it, but some seem like decent WS pieces if not full time until you can get Royal Knights.

Chi isn't really better.

It's earth damage, it does rather bad damage against most mobs (read: most)

Retsu is Ice based.

I find Retsu does more damage, and more consistently.

Really? I never really noticed elemental effects of a WS had any effect on damage, but then again, I mostly end up using just one WS because only one is decent while the rest are plain terrible. As for Chi, I always found it did around 200-250 damage on the high end while Retsu usually never surpassed 200. I can't really recall any averages, I stuck to Retsu anyways because of paralyze, but I really never thought it was a bad WS. I can recall having accuracy issues though which may have been primarily because of level difference.

It definitely does have an effect, even if it's minimal.

Regardless, it does have accuracy problems. I only seemed to land the second hit about half the time on Chi, where as on Retsu, I landed it at least 90%.

I stopped leveling NIN at 67 however heres what I did.

I got every piece of gear that could be useful for NIN up to this point. I dont remember my typical equip I used, mainly because it changed based on what we were killing, who was in the pt, and how fast I was losing shadows. Doing this I was able to hold hate and keep myself from getting hit. By the time I was 67 I was full time meleeing in Hauby and going Ni -> Ni. In fact I was using mostly DD gear full time at this point, switching on some Arhat's +1 or Eris earrings if needed (sometimes for vokes only and sometimes I'd leave a piece on full time).

So yeah... my advise is adjust your gear as needed based on situation =p

God, you people on PC using those windower macros have it easy lol..
