Question to those of you who have netflix on their Ps3...my mom got netflix for christmas and I was wondering if I could just link her account to my Ps3 instead of having to buy a whole new account?

you dont "link" it necessarily. you have to request the disk first. once you get that disc, the disk is yours to keep. from there, there might be account linking. i dont remember for sure. pretty cut and dry though. not hard at all

A Netflix account is required to use it on the PS3. As already mentioned, you have to request the disc from Netflix and it is yours to keep.

Once the disc is run, you will select that you already have an account and go to the URL requested and enter in the code. Once that is done it's pretty much it. You don't have to get multiple accounts for this to happen.

I use it all the time and the video quality is quite good.

There shouldn't be any problems linking her account to your machine. Their exclusivity deal with Microsoft expires in November, so after that it'll be integrated into the PS3 firmware and you'll be able to toss the disc in the trash. I have my Xbox 360 and PS3 linked to my Netflix account and haven't had any problems.

My Dad has a PS3 -- he bought it mostly to have a Blu-Ray player and for the grandkids to play games on -- but never touched the machine himself until they added the Netflix streaming. Now he uses it all the time. He's pretty much working his way through every western they have. As soon as the Wii gets Netflix, he wants that disc so he can watch his movies in the bedroom while the kids are gaming.

Ah, technology.

Is there any difference in video quality between Netflix via the PS3 and via a web browser? I wouldn't think so (bandwidth is bandwidth, amirite?). I use my computer monitor for my PS3 as it is, and I'm curious to know if there'd be any change.

I think the ps3 visuals are a little better but that might be the 37" screen talking. Otherwise it'd probably be the same, as video quality is a factor of bandwidth, unless the ps3 is post-processing it and upscaling.

I haven't noticed a difference in picture quality, but the viewing situations are so different that it's hard to be sure. When I'm watching on a computer, I'm only a few feet from the screen. On the PS3, I'm halfway across the room in my comfy chair. I've pretty much stopped watching on the computer.

Picture quality are about the same. On your PS3 occasionally with some movies you will notice glitching but that's probably on Netflix's end. I notice it at the same time intervals with certain movies. Also the library on streaming netflix is a little small. Their dvd section is noticeably larger. However, it is an upgrade from watching it on your monitor or laptop. The ability to have it on a bigger screen is a plus.

seemed to be ok when I used it but I haven't asked my brother for the netflix disk lately...it's his account and my PS3 XD
