Sorry for bothering everyone. I've been trying to set something up on my computer for the past few days. I've googled and looked around and still can't figure out my problem.

What I am trying to do is add the network adapter "Microsoft Loopback Adapter" I installed it and then go to my network places and it's not there. This is rather annoying and bothersome being as it shows up in other places. When I go to Device Manager it shows up. I need to edit the IP and DNS on it and such but can't do it through the device manager. I look at the properties and it shows up with "Location: Unknown" in the device manager.

Is there something I have to do or am I just screwed?

Thanks.

Loopbacks are generally automatically figured with 127.0.0.1/24 IP address for testing purposes...why change the information on it?

Just a curiosity, I've never heard of it before.

I'm trying to send information to a specific IP on my computer so I can do something. Other then that its not beyond important I would just like to figure this out.

To Darkdante: Those are useful links but I do know how to install the driver and such. I even went to a few of those website. I took a picture help describe my little bug a bit better.

As you can see in my little picture I have the adapter installed in my device manager but it doesn't show up in my network places.

This is when I went to "Properties" in the Device Manager. This is the general information of the device. I can't change the configuration and the location is unknown?

Thanks for everyones time once again.

Open the DOS prompt (Start -> Run -> type 'cmd' then hit enter)
In the big black box type "ping localhost", and you'll get a reply from the loopback.
Or
In the big black box type "ping 127.0.0.1", and you'll get a reply from the loopback.

It's not a network adapter in the GUI, but it's always there, primatly for diagnostic purposes.

Good Luck.
