I bought a Netgear Rangemax 3700 router, hands down the best router I've ever owned. Besides giving me wired gigabit ethernet and wireless N, with 100% signal through 2 floors(and it can run up to 4 separate wireless hubs at once), it has a usb plug for to attach storage or an external hard drive to the router.

So I tried it out with a 300 gig hard drive and loaded up all the episodes of south park, battlestar galactica, the sopranos and a few others.

2 stories down, in my basement my PS3 has access to every episode of south park instantly, 24/7, without needing to turn on my PC.

I can also access the data remotely through HTTP or FTP but it doesn't seem stable enough for large files, good for documents though.

Now I uploaded gigs and gigs of music to it and ordered a Squeezebox. Though I may need to cancel that because apparently it might not work - shitty squeezebox, not the router's fault. Can still stream music to ps3/xbox.

What's nice is my laptop reads the storage as a network drive so it's really easy to pop things on and off of it.
