I just switched to DSL recently and need some help setting up my network connection on my PS2. I know I have to set it to PPoE and I have my username and password provided by my ISP setup but I'm not sure what else I need. I can't find my old FFXI manual to help me out so I'm stuck and the POL website doesn't provide much help. I also tried contacting my ISP but I've sat on hold twice for 30-45 mins and ended up hanging up both times. I live in Winnipeg, MB and currently using MTS if that helps.

Yes I know DSL sucks but I pay for half of what I used to pay for with cable, phone and internet combined.

Any help would be much appreciated and I just need to log on one last time to give out some stuff and to cancel my content ID as I am quitting and I'll throw in a reward for whoever can help!

DSL doesn't suck... I don't know why people keep saying it does. In all reality, it's as good as the lines in your area are.

Are you using a router in between the DSL modem and your PS2? If so, that changes things and you'd need to disable the DHCP service on the modem and set it to a Bridged connection.

If it's just Outlet --> Filter --> Modem --> PS2, then I think all you need is the information you provided: username, password, and ISP name all set to PPPoE Protocol. You might need to get the MTU setting from your ISP as well, I'm not certain.

Maybe it's just my ISP but I've had to reset my modem at least once a day since I've had it but yea it's never been anything serious. But I won't be using a router and it will be hooked up straight to my PS2. MTU setting? Is there anywhere I can find this on my PC or will only my ISP be able to provide it? Sorry I'm not very good with computers.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to set that on the PS2 manually; I know I can set it manually on my router, and the modem will already have it set.

I'm not sure how to help, but I hope this means you're coming back! =P

I finally figured it out. The guy who hooked up my internet wrote down my username and the "1" looked like a "7" somehow so I was finally able to log on last night. Thanks Tristam for offering your advice and sorry Javir I won't be coming back >< I'm just logging on to say my goodbyes and give stuff away.

lol, i hate it when that happens.

glad you got it working :D
