New Equipment! (02/19/2008)

The most important slip about this pic is the inclusion of Altepa Desert ...

Is it the sand expanse that makes you say it's , or the clouds?

...I don't see anything that would determine that it is vice good 'ol current-day Altepa.

The Hellstorm Jambiya? No fucking way.

In that most unlikely of worlds, we might see a Hexagun that doesn't suck (perhaps it could even have Quick Draw bonuses of some sort), an Amood variant with a latent that actually makes sense, and perhaps even a dagger that could entice a RDM to melee with it... somehow.

More likely we'll see another hexagun whose sole arguable use is pulling, an Amood that is still utterly useless 90% of the time, and a dagger that can entice stupid RDMs to melee with it.
Learn your weapons rdm can't use Jambiya style daggers. Which bring me to my next point had it ever accrued to you that may be that every weapon is link to a weapon in real life or mythology. Also why there are other style weapons they have not introduced yet what good would they be if there not better then the current weapons. Then there the task of which jobs can and can use and not use. Ps2 limitations is not the only reason there are not "new style types" of weapons.

1. Christ, it's 'occurred', not 'accrued'. Learn yer dickshunarie.
2. Because I know that real life and mythology have swords and clubs that automatically make my/the wielder's arm nearly break off by hitting 2-3/8 times, bigass swords that do "darkness damage" (wtfever that is)...

The polearm I have on my DRG, IRL back in the day, it only allowed its bearer to do a certain move in certain areas. Seriously, there were certain territories where people could use the ancient RL weapon skill and territories they couldn't.

I'm aware RDM can't use current Jambiya style daggers.

So what?

There's no big book of rules at SE headquarters saying "RDM CAN NEVER USE ANYTHING THAT LOOKS LIKE A JAMBIYA OR WORLD EXPLODE!".

And yes, it has occured to me that many weapons are based on mythological and/or literary weapons of the past.

Again, so what?

They're not ALL based that way, job limitations are entirely arbitrary, and whether a weapon is better than another is irrelevant. You could release a sword available to BLU that was a weaker version of Ridill and you'd have the entire BLU community simultaneously soil themselves from sheer joy. You could put out a Rune Scythe with functionally identical stats to the Rune Chopper and see a similar reaction from many DRKs.

Increasing options, lateral upgrades, etc, is SE's typical modus operandi to begin with.

Rune Chopper

I feel obligated to post this because of linkshell experiences with Peregrine:
RUNE CHOPPA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really should log in sometime to see if he ever did do that full haste/Rune Chopper build lol.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. I could swing my Thundercats® Lion-O Sword around outside, but if I did indoors, Hell hath no fury like Mom's rapid-fire ass-beatings.

Seriously, I'd splooge my pants off.

There are rules that they have to follow just look at the game closely and you will see. As for the darkness dmg and other magical weapons, mythology is full thick of magical weapons.

No, there really are no rules.

That's why it's a Sapara of Trials and not a Gladius of Trials. That's why BLU can use most Falchion-class weapons, but not all. SE simply decides what jobs can use what weapons on a somewhat arbitrary basis.

What rules? Man, if they were following the rules, you'd have only a SINGLE Ridill, Balmung, Gungnir, Arondight, Excalibur, and any number of named weapons in the entire game. And for that matter, none of us would be able to even wield Excal, because we're not in the true line for the rule of Britain.

How's that for your average Red Mage Meree? Or, in other terms,

WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW?

Follow the rules, my ass.

EDIT: This is for Audino:

Red Mages ARE real! Proof:

although, since he's wielding a gun, he's technically a Corsair.
Twenty bucks says we'll begin hearing how RDMs should use Ranged Attack!

Very true, not allowing BLU to weild Ridill is idiotic in SE's part. X(

every computer/ps2/ps3/x-box/nintendo wii becomes outdated the day after it leaves the shelves...IT101

outdated isn't exactly the word to use for that. if you spend $1000 on building a PC, it is not outdated in a week. sure, there will always be newer technology.. but it doesn't mean that your system is out of date as you suggest.

gaming consoles are a little different due to the inability to upgrade most items though.. so that statement is more true for gaming consoles I believe.

/facepalm.

I'm aware you *get* to use Ranged Attack.

I'm fully aware you *get* Sidewinder.

I'm also aware of the fact that you have a D rank in Archery, and an F in Throwing.

The only dumbass here has made his points as to the basis of "all weaponry in FFXI being based on real-life and mythological stuff; they have to follow X pattern!"

look at how majestic I'm holding my bow in my pic, it takes precedence of these non-important "D" and "F" skills you speak of!

(I'm kidding buddy...I used to keep archery capped when I started playing in my free time, until I started being a cheapass)

Oh hey, wrong topic. How'd I do that?
