New Expansion announced: Wings of the Goddess

The development of "Wings of the Goddess", a new FINAL FANTASY XI expansion disc, was announced today at the SQUARE ENIX PARTY 2007.
In conjunction with this announcement, a new site has been created to provide the latest development details as they become available, as well as give fans the opportunity to view exclusive images from the expansion.

Eesh... according to the video it's getting released Winter 2007. Looking at the video a couple times, it looks like the SE will be making changes or additions to existing zones. Most notable, for me at least, is that shot of the Outpost in East Sara(tab) being transformed into a tower-like fortification.

They've all been fortified with Barracks etc. if you look. Theres a shot of Sauromogue Champaigne with all the current walls repaired and it looking very mighty indeed...

My first thoughts would be that it tied all the story lines together, as it showed alot of clips from CoP, ZMs and AU. This made me think it'd be in the Far East, as it showed a few clips of Tenzen also. The music also had a Far Eastern undertone to it, however I am just speculating.

"Past tales retold..." ? Sounds sick.

My thoughts is, this wont be as big an update as ToAU, unless they postpone it.

Well, they said they were working on this expansion back while they were working on the other one. In one of the old interviews, before ToAU had been released, but had been announced, they said they were working on another expansion pack (read: this one)
 
Yeah, I remember that, but they didn't give out any details on it's development, untill now.. :D

The point was that they've been working on it for as long, if not longer, then ToAU xD So it must be good... right?!

I dunno about the Far East being particularly involved... It looks to me like the main continent 20+ years ago. I don't really have any clue how they plan to provide access to it without completely changing the face of the old continent... Perhaps some sort of time-warp? Sounds kinda goofy to me... :crazy:

I'm going to say that there won't be any new jobs added, though... What would they have a few decades ago that wouldn't still be around in current-day Vana'diel? I'd love to be wrong about this, though.

that last line before the cs of the new expansion are the echos of history all that remain of the past... that would be dynamis.

the line about once the ink dries out could that mean the one has to finish the story line to access this place, I mean they have been hinting around for people to finish the past expansions.

It doesn't neccesarily have to refer to Dynamis. "Echoes of the past" can simply be the scars left on the world from the previous events. Dynamis isn't an echo, its an alternate dimension. What the world would look like if Dynamis Lord would have won

Looking at the vid though, that comet can be anything, including the comet summoned by the tarutaru BLMes to fence of the enemy forces in the opening video
 
now this is a good way to make an expansion. Ive been waiting for "things to be repaired" and "more buildings," Not just new areas

It was more of a generalization of this thread failing for people not reading. There's enough cream in that thread already we don't need a 2nd one for more cream action.
