New forums appearing; flameboard going bye-bye?

In the last few minutes or so, I've personally witnessed several new forum names popping up.

Vanadiel Debate Society

Neighborhood Watch

I couldn't help but notice that these topics are things that the flameboard usually handles. Is this the experimental phasing out of the flameboard?

Not a flame, but wondering. Because its gonna happen SOMEWHERE.

Reality Sinks In? Cause we all know threats and insults through the game affect our lives outside of it, I mean, just the other day I was called a spoon. Hiding under my bed covers for weeks so I was.


Yeah I was wondering about those as well, nice idea though, should keep the forums more organised.

its a good idea, and those things DID need a place of thier own (maybe not all seperate, but thats irrelevant)
But stupid people are a fact of the boards. And unless Sculli will agree to ban peole who are just plain disliked by 90% of the board without any rules infractions, people are still gonna be "called out" by other people.

I'm not sure I like the idea of a "Vanadiel Debate Society." It seems like bad organization -- why have the debates in only one place? If someone plugs a bad tactic in the General forum and people jump to correct the poster, does that mean it suddenly needs to be moved to the new Debate forum? Or is debating that bad tactic on the General forum now considered thread hijacking, and we're not expected to leave it alone? Plus, the name of the forum still invites debating just for the sake of debating, and not where it may really be needed.

I think people should be able to debate general stuff in the General forum, debate real life issues in the Real Life forum, debate crafting possibilities in the Crafters forum, debate guides in the Quests/Missions/Guides forum, etc. What is it we should be debating in the "Debate Society" if everything else is already seperated by topic?

If anything, I would suggest adding a "Skills/Tactics" forum. That can split off a lot of discussion on the General forum to a more focused area, suitable for debate.

the cod2 message boards i go to have a debate forum. it can get pretty bad.

yep.. not every arguement is a "debate".
Things like stated above, or if people want to argue a certain item is not worth it, and why (like Deci's amazing KTN parser topic)

I think this is an amazing idea.

Keep your control and you won't get reprimanded. I am sure it will have mods.



... I'm just waiting for sculli to make an uneditable section with a word filter to make people who attempt to flame sound really stupid..

I think this'll make a nice change to the typical "You got beef? Go to the flameboard!" for every discussion on something in game. I hope the debating forums work out good and don't turn the way of the flameboard, as it could be a very nice change

how about instead of vanadiel debate club we call it something like "Heated discussion" or something then. Maybe this is too close to the flameboard title for scullis liking, but personally i think that debate club thing sounds kinda queer.
