OK, I decided not to post this in the flameboard because it would be shot down and destroyed like a kite in a thunder storm.
OK, now all of you have complained about this dead horse, but my friend brought up an interesting strategy in how to combat gilsellers.
He got fed up with being poor, and took the easy way out by purchasing gil. But he didn't stop there.......after the "contact" gave him the gil and said things to him, my friend REPORTED the "contact" to POL.
Even though my friend did that just to see what would happen (actually done as a joke at first!), a GM contacted him. My friend wrote "I'm sick of gilfarmers" in the help desk device to call a GM. Then he told the GM "I am sick of gilfarmer/seller so I decided to buy some gil online so I can report them to you." According to him,the GM said "Thank you very much for this information."
My friend then did a /sea all <gilseller name here> everytime he connected to FFXI (which is pretty frequently) and then found that the guy never came on EVER AGAIN.
Again; this is just a therory, so let me put the above in a simple sentence if you didn't feel like reading the details:
Purchase gil from IGE or any of those companies that sell game currencies, then report the seller AFTER you recieve the gil. Make sure you do not log off and lose the conversation with the gilseller ***especially when he says "here is your gil." (unless you have a parser of some sort)***
Now this may or may not work, but it seemed the most effective for him. LOL he told me he even got to keep his gil.
So please reply with your thoughts.
***Miscellaneous Info and warning***
-My friend is on the Diabolos server
I want to say right here and right now: This is a warning that if you think this would be a good tactic, it is at your discretion only. I take absolutely no reponsibility if you get in trouble as a result of this. My friend may or may not have been lucky. Once again, I take no responsibility for any ramafications or consequences that you or your character may incur if you participate in this.
So please tell me your thoughts and good luck!
