A maximum limit has been placed on the total amount of bonus attack speed that can be gained from a combination of spells, abilities, and items.

o_O;;

Update just happened, so testing will ensue, I'm sure. Will this affect Zerging, and more specifically, Kclub/Rune Chopper DRKs?

I think this haste cap will affect Rune Chopper and Bahamut Scythe DRKs than it will affect Kraken Club DRKs. Kraken Club DRKs, while they do rely on haste (abilities/spells) to an extent, do not do so nearly as much as Bahamut Scythe DRKs and Rune Chopper DRKs. This update, depending on the severity of the cap (if it affects at all (which is likely)) will most likely result in 2 handed zerg DRKs using haste gear in some slots try to go more to HP and Accuracy. Job traits such as Desperate blows which decreases delay and other things of the like may become useless. Will be very hard to tell until people go out and do some haste % testing though.

Hmm. I wonder if this raises the haste cap of armour? Which I think normally is 25% which I think is impossible for Nins to reach, I think 23% is highest?
So maybe if they raised the haste cap for armour they would put out some more Haste gear! :D! we can only hope

Well, I don't really believe that the "cap" on armour is what they are talking about. If you read what the update notes say it talks about combination of equipment, spells, and job abilities, thus implying a combined cap on all type of hastes. That being said I believe that they are putting a hard cap on the haste percentage. That being said some people may need to rearrange their gear for things like DRK zergs.

I must also note that it is a possibility that they are not putting the cap lower than now, but that they are perhaps increasing it to accommodate for new abilities (perhaps DNC roll?). Its hard to speculate without actually being in the game and testing this stuff out though.

Really no point even talking about this until the update's up and people can start testing. It could be so high that it only affects relic/rune chopper drks or something of that nature. It could be so low that it affects even normally geared players like black belt mnks. There's no way to know now. People jump the gun too fast on this stuff, I swear.

I wasn't aware that there was an overall haste cap? 15%+25%? Or more, Im just getting into haste since I started leveling ninja, so Im just looking for insight

These numbers are rounded....

45%(capped magic haste) + 25%(capped gear haste) + 10%(hasso) + 15%(DB)

Its really around 93% because the numbers are rounded.

Yah, it's far far too early to be even making a topic. For all we know, it's just to nerf Soul Voice or decrease TP burns on big mobs. It'll take atleast a week before anyone can start making anything other than uninformed guesses.

I'm assuming the cap will be above 50%. I'm guessing 75% or 80% to prevent Apocalypse DRK's from hitting with a delay of 11.

Then what do you suggest we do during maintenance, oh overlord Rappa? This is a forum last I checked, where god forbid, people might actually DISCUSS things...

Shouldnt affect Kraken Club too much. If anything it'll affect Rune Choppers.

But Rappa is correct. A good discussion of this needs testing, and testing can't happen until the game is back on. Without testing talking about it is moot.

Keep in mind that even a couple percent points lower haste would severely gimp someone in the 90+ haste region, so I think you can pretty much call RC zerging dead, if they're capping it lower at all, that is.

Yeh, taking the 93% down to 90% will equate to roughly 15-17 hits.

I will have to hop on Itto later and try it it later to see if the adjustment is noticeable but quite honestly just because they are adjusting something doesn't automatically make it a nerf...

What else would they do to it? Raise it?

Given the facts, it's quite easy to make an educated guess that it'll be a nerf. Aside from guessing what will be nerfed, we know someone or something will get it. Look at it this way: Either they raise or lower the cap? Why would they raise it? Why would they lower it? There simply is no reason to raise it, but plenty of reason to lower.

There's a really active GD topic for speculation. End-Game Discussion isn't really a good place for speculation, and we don't even know if it's going to affect end-game yet. What part of that is confusing you?

According to the Japanese wording of the update, they are adding in an upper limit where there previously wasn't one. So I don't see how it can do anything but be a limiter.

Also apoc drks, and BZ. lol, relic drk's got boned.
