Yes and here's my reason to not buy either of those systems.
360 sucks breaks every other minute. I also live in bermuda so getting a refund involves buying a plane ticket and bitching at microsoft who wont support you since you arent technically in the usa or go try for a refund at the store that wont take the refund when they realize the 360 is broken. There are also very few games i'm even interested in on 360 and the ones i might care about i can just play at a freind's house until we grow bored of it after a week.
Ps3: what games? I dont see any games on it. Do you see any games? I dont see any games.( future ones dont count since they dont exist yet and can still suck) The only logical reason for me to even buy a pS3 atm is for soul calibur 4 which doesnt even exist yet.
To be honest, my 360 has never broke yet, its 2 years old and I got it one month after the originals came out, no Red ring, no problems, no nothing. Reason: I've placed my 360 by an open air vent where cool breezes can flow through and not kill the motherboard (The only good use for British weather).
PS3... true it hasn't got many good games at the moment... save one which will be out this month, Assassin's Creed.
Anyways, the PS2 is limiting what FFXI could potentially do, so the PC and 360 users have to suffer because of it. I play on PC btw as FFXI never came out in the UK on PS2... thank god. PS2's online services suck ass anyway whereas 360, PC and... maybe... PS3 users have a better online service. All those consoles (And PCs) were designed specifically for online, however, PS2's online service was just a inferior copy of the original Xbox's LIVE service, which the original Xbox was designed for.
The Original Xbox had Ethernet port and a hard drive inside the console when it came out. 360 was practically the same save for instead of paying with credit cards you can now top up LIVE instead and came with a month free LIVE in the premium packages. PS3 came out with the Ethernet ports, free online service and a hard drive. PS2 needed 2 attachments, a modem which you needed to buy and a 40gb hard drive which came with FFXI.
Which reminds me... Hard Drive space. The 360 came out with the 20gb detachable Hard Drive attached with the Premium consoles (Kinda rip off but at least there was a months gold live service with it) and has now got a 120gb Hard Drive with the release of the 360 Elite. PS3 came out with 2 models to compete with the 360, a 20gb model and a 60gb model. Now they've stopped 20gb and 60gb and attached 20 more gb to each, so PS3 users can now chose the 40gb and 80gb models. Both consoles have More than enough space for several FFXI expansions, including updates and all that. PCs however can have a lot of hard drive space, I've even heard of some Hard Drives going up to 1 terrabyte now! (O_O) Also PCs can be upgraded a lot as its life goes on.
I can go on like this for ages saying why PS2 sucks for online and so on.
So basically, its just like what Nyosan~ said. Its investing in the future. Its the next generation.
