This isn't true I tanked on my warrior in Gustav on goblins bounced back and forth with a blu/nin. I didn't have the best def gear for it but i had some that allowed me to blink tank half decently.
 
hmm maybe u r difference i guess. Most of the warrior i party with refuse to tank even if it is duo war tank. they will just reject me.
 
I don't mind. I end up tanking anyway :).

In this 1 pt ( i forget the nin name) at trolls, this nin tank was getting beat up frequently. I started back-up tanking and voking adds and they all had a bitchy fit. I died once because I voked an add, so the mage wouldn't die and also had hate from the one we were still whacking. All but one person loled and said thats what you get for voking. Pick up pts are "good times"

War/nin bouncing is better than no exp because of no tanks. The blu didn't mind as we had a decent thief for bouncing back and forth.
 
I r gettin rate downs for saying WAR is a viable tank, because people said FFXI needs more tank jobs...

No, you're getting rate downs for saying WAR is a viable tank for all the wrong reasons.

You want WAR tank? Get yourself a mix of Askar(hands, feet,) and Ares(body.) Fill in head and legs with whatever helps you keep hate.

I think I've had to take like 20 times going from level 37-61

Not main tank but duo tank with another WAR or something.

I too had to tank(solo) as a war during several crawl nest pts. It's not the best but it's better then nothing. It's possible, but I guess not well wanted. I would like to see some possible ways to upgrade war for tanking. Maybe SE could give em a second ability like provoke 2 or w/e at lvl 40 and also some Def up moves.

SE can change any job to do w/e they want(we seen all the upgrades and downgrades) I guess all we can do is bug them for it.

"no, no it doesn't. lol" what? That answer made no sense. Did you say "no it doesn't" to me saying BRD used to be one of the best tanks for things like Fafnir and Nidhogg? Did you say "no it doesn't" towards "DRK/SAM works for smaller events such as Salvage and Merits"? or towards "I'd like to see WAR/SAM tank things like Jailer of Love"? In which case it isn't even grammatically correct.
 
I'm telling all of you:

Dancer = tank.

They piss off mobs and "goad enemies into attacking you" by the use of Bump-and-Grind techniques.

Two-hour is Macarena, which completely blinds the mob for the duration, while you beat the ever-loving fuck out of the mob with hip-thrusts, handslaps, and jumps.
 
If you ask me, chaining Ts is still a viable option. What people need to learn is that EXP is EXP. It might not go as fast but goddammit it's better than sitting on your ass going "HURRR NO EXP BECAUSE NO TANKS"

Got everything else? Grab five people, go chain Ts and have a WAR MNK SAM tank until another tank pops up.
 
All this new job stuff is nice.. but man.. taking 'another' job to lvl 75... *groans* Well if they add new jobs which they probably will, happy lvling. Gonna be tough to find 'good' people to level with that aren't lvling the new jobs just like you are. What they need to add is a new 'type' of weapon class. :) The ones we have are great.. but would be nice to have some more types of weapon classes with WSes... or have jobs that are good at throwing have throwing WSes which would be kinda neat XD

I... Didnt give any reasons... All I said is that WAR is 1 of the three jobs that can main tank... I really dont see a reason why people like you, jamal and co. feel the need to start a debate over whether or not WAR can tank or not... Its a job with defensive/enmity gear and abilities available to it, and it has provoke... How can people be so blind and still say "WARs not a tank?"

According to Square, playing this job requires a certain degree of finesse, though the representative we spoke to didn't get into specifics. The video showed Dancers attacking with daggers and unleashing special attacks visually represented with bulbs of rose petals. Square said FFXI fan events in Osaka, Japan and in the United States will give players a chance to try out the Dancer, as well as reveal another job.

The trailer finished with a shot of great, gaping mouth in the sky. It resembled something of a hurricane's eye, yet was bluish-purple with an eye-wall ringed with teeth. Square hinted longtime players should recognize this as a reference to a mythological creature within the FFXI universe.

That wasn't in response to you, that was to a previous post saying that WAR/SAM tanks well. I just quoted the wrong one. Sorry. =p.

The Fan Fest in NA is the 15th thru 17th in NA, still just days before WotG ships, which is screwy, not sure when the Osaka fan fest is.
And DNC charming? Hrmm...

So I wonder if they're gonna unveil 1 of the new jobs November 3rd and the 3rd and final one at the North America fest which is November 15th thru the 17th, or if there will only be 2 new jobs.
