New Jobs Explained, New armor announced, and more!

I totaly agree that RDM's should be able to melee.. its not like they'll be that weak... its just that with all their spells and shit, they won't have time.

B weapon skill caps are too low to be reliable against IT mobs. The RDM would have to sacrifice a lot of gear slots as well as their Food for accuracy, and with no innate attack boosts and little room for attack gear, they'll hit for terrible damage with a gimp hit rate compared to any A weapon.

oh yay, another RDM who doesn't play the job that doesn't know. yes, they will be that weak. they can't come close to any damage dealer job, and will be extremely inefficient.

RDM's have en-spells for soloi'ng, not to try to be a DD in a xp party with its sword.

im not trying to turn this away from the topic and get away from the new jobs, but speculations and comparisons which hold no value should not be spread.

RDM were meant to melee, but we weren't meant to fight IT++ mobs either, and VT would be pushing it.

Imagine a world where DRKs had to rest in the back row so they could pump out those ab-spells and stun. Imagine what RDM was like before refresh. You would sacrifice mage gear, but it wouldn't matter as much because resist rates on spells would be much lower as well.

The way we do things is more efficient and ultimately better for those that want to level at optimal speed, but it is not the manor in which SE intended the job to be used. To give you an idea of how fucked up and silly SE can be, look at the H2H weapons and notice some of the ones that they let randomly decided they would make RDM usable. SE likes to give us options, just cuz we picked one we feel is more efficient doesn't mean we were following their early intentions.

although RDM can use staves and h2h weapons-- they have no rated skills in these categories. doesn't do much good.

Well, technecally, SE meant RDM to melee. They announced that a while ago. Now, since RDM didn't work, they want BLU to melee. From what we know on BLU, they can solo-Skillchain, and solo-MB, which makes them really usefull when meleeing. Plus, if they don't end up subbing WHM(Either way, I'm NOT subbing WHM. I don't care what anyone says, I'm playing BLU the way I want, the fun way.) then they won't have a healing job. Maybe BLU/BLM, or BLU/RDM?

Red Mage

dagger - B rated (250)
sword - B rated (250)
club skil - D rated (210)
archery - D rated (210)
throwing - F rated (189)
evasion - D rated (210)
shield - F rated (189)

h2h/staff/greatsword/greataxe/axe/scythe/polearm/katana/greatkatana - no skill

COR - looks like a new subjob to level up for Bard.

BRD can't equip guns, assuming that's what allows corsairs to use their buffs

Getting back to the original topic, PUP still seems kind of lame to me.

About rdm - I'm too busy casting refresh, enfeebles, cures here and there, haste sometimes if there's a nin, and elemental spells and such to worry about meleeing and taking care of myself while meleeing in an exp pty.

Now about the topic, these jobs sound a bit interesting, but for some reason, I'm not too keen on them, of course I'm going to unlock them and such though.

I wonder how that "XP Up" effect for Corsairs is supposed to work. First of all, it's a little odd to see SE handing out free XP as a job trait. Secondly, it could really screw over party level balances if the Corsair keeps dinging faster than anyone else.

Aside from that, it looks like they're using Corsairs to try and balance class favoritism a little, as well as focus the classes back to their original design. The abilities bestowed upon WHMs, SMNs, and PLDs will really make those classes more valuable, giving them a fighting chance against RDM healers and NIN tanks. So depending on how frequently this Phantom Roll is available, you've got a combat-based support class that can help these jobs function better in a good party. Given the nature of this Corsair class, I wouldn't be surprised to see them get some sort of Dispel ability as well.

I had no interested in the class concept at first, but now I'm rather curious to its possibilities.

Well, it depends on more then that. Recast time, how long the buff lasts, and if its AoE.

If its a 5 min recst time that's NOT AoE, then I'd say its rather useless <.<;

The thing is, COR isn't the only one to get it. Everyone in the party receives the bonus, so it doesn't mess up the balance.

I wouldn't say it messes the balabce up, because, think of it like this:

Party's with BRD and RDM(almost all) kill the mobs fast. They also have low resting time, with Refresh, and Ballad. Since COR doesn't come with Refresh(unless you have a SMN), the EXP thing is basically refresh. You'd kill the mob at the same rate as a party with Refresh. You'd get more EXP, they'd get less downtime, so it makes a little sense if you think of it that way.

Yes he is the only one to get it, the bonus is custom-made for each job, and it's exp bonus for COR.

Now for Anabelle's remark I can only LOL: support jobs dinging faster than others? that rings a bell somehow ;)

Which remark? Because I didn't make a remark about support jobs dinging faster than others...

Yeah, PUP still looks a little lacking compared to the other jobs, but I don't think they gave everything up yet. They are leaving some suprises I hope with PUP. First thing I'm doing once I get access to the ToAU regions is figuring out how to unlock PUP and leveling it hardcore. I like jobs with pets (loldrg) so hopefully this will be good. And I also there is a new type of H2H weapon for PUP and not just the kinds that MNK have.

Agreed. Leveling BST, DRG and SMN have spoiled me on pets, so this is the new job carrying the most interest for me right now. I like the idea of BLU and would be thrilled if could tie in with BST somehow, but there's not the same level of intrigue. It doesn't hurt that my H2H would already be capped.

Yea, that's what I was thinkin Hali, maybe BLU would be a possible SJ for BST, since they get mob based abilities at certain lvs... maybe the abilities would be used against other mobs of the weaker element etc

Would be neat tho to see that... I just can't wait to learn how to unlock them, and I think COR will be my 1st one to lv^^;

Besides hell... that ability Wild Card... that best be a 2hr lol <.<;

Because damn, imagine when they get COR to high lv... you're doing an bad BC fight and everyone 2hrs and about to wipe, COR uses Wild Card, and everyone is fully re-charged for abilities yet again... would be sweet

Yeah, and with a totally customizable Automaton, things look to be even more interesting, offering up many viable options for different paths to take. It says there are 12 different 'attachments' making your Automaton totally customizable. You want to go out and do a little soloing? Make your Automaton the healing one. For parties, it all depends on what your party has and needs, and can fill probably several different roles of the party. I'm definitely looking forward to it, but I really hope they go above my expectations.

I believe the two hour is the special ability they listed

special ability "Argel Law", increases effectiveness of blue magic for set time

Who knows though? It might just be that Argel Law is the BLU version of Divine Seal or Elemental Seal, but lasts a little longer.
