New linkin park album, Single and video

oh yesss another linkin park cd for all the sweet goth/emo's to obsess over

dont mean to shit on ur thread...but i hate LP

This cracks me up.

"Uhh I dont mean to shit on your thread but...*Pulls down pants* Yea...*Lets a snake out*"

Talk about a complete contradiction.

I agree with Meeze, sometimes I wanna grab a Wigger and just shake the shit out of em, screaming "You are not a thug!!!". Sadly, kids pack heat these days, and I ain't tryin to get shot up.

That's a little dramatic, no? I mean, I love The B-52's, but I don't feel like I owe them anything.

I liked LP's sound when they first came out, but after a while, you realize a lot of it sounds the same. Listening to Meteora is like picking one song from the first CD and hitting the 'repeat track' button. (RHCP is the same way, only much worse.)

Oh man, I used to love the B-52's...had you ever heard thier "Monster in My Pants" song? I thought that was the greatest song ever.....when I was 13.

What is Linkin Park's big hit? I feel old, but I have no clue who they are...

LP has a lot of hits... the biggest three I can think of are In The End, Breaking the Habit, and Somewhere I Belong.

anyway, LP was the band that first got me into music a long time ago... definitely looking forward to the new CD.

Oh no a monster!

LOL sweeeeeet

I think I was geting Hoobastank and Linkin Park confused (in my head)...Hoobastank sings The Reason, right?

My bad....carry on...

Yea Hoobastank sang that song lol but i'm looking forward to the new LPU. I'm a fan also thought i havne't been on the street team i've been apart of there memebership thing they have so yea hopefully the CD will be worth the price of it but anyways yea idk what more to say

Chasym is right though, calling LP emo is like calling Metalica christian rock. The majority of the songs sing about hardships in life, but what fucking band doesn't have their fair share? LP is the first time I heard the term "emo" back in the day and frankly most emo/goth stereotypes I've known hated LP for not being hardcore enough. It's all due to most only knowing the song "Crawling" which does seem kind of emo if you don't pay attention to what the lyrics really intend.

As for who said LP is good when the guy rapping shuts up, I can kind of agree with you there. My more favored songs by LP are the ones sung mostly by Chester. Mike Shinoda is a good rapper, and does add a lot to their sound, but songs that are entirely by him get kind of old fast with me.

I hope their "new sound" isn't a huge diversion from the old stuff, but it is enough of a split to make you want to listen to both. I hated their remixes in the past, Reanimation was horrid. I hope they have more songs along the lines of My December, which is probably my favorite song by them and helped me get through some depressed periods. I wouldn't say it was a driving factor but it was a great song to fall back on when I just wanted to be alone and think.

Lately bands have been too cliche, Linkin Park really separated themselves when they came out, hopefully do so again. So few unique bands anymore it's hard to find *new* music to listen to on my Zune. Sure has been a lot of The Fray and Snow Patrol lately. Can't wait to have this added to the mix.

i agree with most of that taur.
I do feel LP is a unique band, they are not afraid to experiment and change their sound every album instead of sticking with what sold last time like most bands. when the single, somewhere i belong came out i honestly didnt like it. but it grew on me as i got used to the change.
this new single, i was iffy on when i heard it and even more "wow thats different" when i saw the video..but its grown on me.
its no surprise that LP is WB's most protected band, they put out more online security to keeping leaked material off the web than any company has done for any other band.
they first tried this ever with meteora, and its clearly being done already if you browse around for the fake album torrents that are just filled with chesters old band gray daze songs and interview clips that match the supposed file size and length of the real albums songs. they did that with meteora too.
and if a real leak appears, they are quick to take action to get it taken down.

i personally like mike shinoda in doses, some songs i feel could have done without the rapping, others it accents it really well.

i liked reanimation, Wasnt fantastic, but i liked it. I did not on the otherhand like the LP and jay z remixes. not because i hate jay z and pretty much most rap in general, but because it just sounded like a cash out that made no sense to be made. i could have seen maybe a song or two but a whole album really wasnt needed.

i cant wait to hear more of this new sound that some are saying is their best work yet.
Qwerty, another new song by them...was weird to me. liked the choros...hated the punk sounding verses.
but i really am anticipating this cd, and i will be waiting at my local 24 hour store at midnight when it drops in may.

as for crawling, its about abuse and those who are confused and afraid to leave the abuser because of that one mental issue where people identify with their attacker or feel bad for them. And the person is digging to find themself and the courage to escape.

Question, how is this unique? Every band "changes" or "experiments" every album, so they say (despite, uh, not). Linkin Park is Linkin Park and it will never change. It's the same ol' tired out rap/nu metal bullshit. Want to talk unique, look up the people who started what they are A PART of (however, they suck too). All of their albums sound the same, just like Korn's, just like Slipknot's, just like Limp Bizkit's (Hint: They had techno beats and rap too!) and just like most of our crappy American "wannabe" rock/metal. However, they change the distortion or break the last albums normal tempo and suddenly, "OMG REVAMPED SOUND!!!!!!!!!!!"

Linkin Park not emo? Depends on your aspect of what is emo. All music is emotional but through a different way. Linkin Park definatly fits the sterotypical "zings" they get. Admit it, they do a lot of whining about high school bullshit and have god damn cutters on their videos... Doesn't get much more clear than that.

I'm truely and utterly disgusted at what people say about these bands producing our nations "hits" today. They release the same CD over and over yet still get the good ratings and comments... You want unique, you wont find it on the charts or makin' the big bucks.

/end rant

well that may be how you feel, but i know ive found unique in lp and they are on the charts.
your opinion vs mine, to each their own tho.
i still feel how i said i felt about the band. I dont feel their albums sound the same at all.

I actually find their videos to be far more artistic than anything put out by big money directors and such. One thing I find really great about them is that their videos are all thought up by the band's DJ. Comparing LP to Limp Bizkit? Maybe a little. Slipknot? Can you actually understand Slipknot's lyrics 9/10 of the time?

I still don't see how LP is "emo". Even Wikipedia's article on Emo music: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emo_(music) completely ignores Linkin park as even being a candidate for Emo on their reasonably long list of bands.

The classification of bands as "emo" is often controversial. Fans of several of the listed bands have recoiled at the use of the "emo" tag, and have gone to great lengths to explain why they don't qualify as "emo". In many cases, the term has simply been attached to them because of musical similarities, a common fashion sense, or because of the band's popularity within the "emo" scene, not because the band adheres to emo as a music genre.

That says it perfectly.

This Cd sounds to have some sort of promise to it. I REALLY like the reanimation CD out of them all. But this CD does sound like it has something good to it. Last time I was excited for a CD was May 2nd of 06 when 10,000 days came out.

Just one question.

How the hell is LP emo or goth AT ALL? I see all these memes that say it, but I don't get it. Actually, I've never met anyone who thinks LP is emo/goth.... not even emo and goth kids. If people wanna bash on Linkin Park because they don't dig their style, then by all means, bash away. The whole emo deal just confuses me.

EDIT: Just realized many people said this. My bad.

What you guys don't seem to understand is the difference between emo and goth, and there is a big fuckin difference. Emo kids are usually living in upper class white suburbia bitching about how much their life just totally sucks because some kid at school called her a slut in front of everyone. They blow alot of shit out of proportion. - Definately listens to LP.

Goth kids are the same and yet opposite. Goth kids bitch about life constantly, but becuase the entire world sucks, not just one person or people. They're all dark and depressed and shit too. - Maybe Listens to LP, if they're little kid poser goths.

And real goths listen to Occult, not LP. Real goths would never be caught dead with a LP cd.

And Strid, what's wrong with Slipknot? I'm with ya that alot of "metal" these days is in no fuckin way true metal, but Slipknot? I'll probably agree with you, I'm just curious why you don't like em.

Guitar wise, when I listen to music I like for the song to sound as if it had more work put into it than bar chords and variations of those same and very limited chords. Drum wise, it's okay but hell... could carry a more creative beat usually. Vocals, meh I hate rap/ish and this whole Killswitch scream to sing fad is killing me. Scream (I'll leave gutteral here too), sing, or be Mikael Akerfelt. Corey is just... bad. Even his "scream" sound, if you can call it that, is masked. Vocals aren't that important to me, in alls honesty, but I don't listen to bitch music and I absolutly haven't the stomach for rap. Bass, lawl, no one should gives a shit unless their listening to Cynic or Athiest so~

Then you have the whole lolwewearmask thing mixed with the jungle beats and it sounds like a collage of BLAH in the end that makes people go, and this is the kicker, "I LISTEN TO DEF METAL BC I LIEK SLIPKNOT". Those same pricks who think wearing the Hot-Topic Dimmu Borgir / Cradle of Filth merch and own their last two efforts qualifyes them as fans of Black Metal. These people do not belong to associate themselves with my hobbies and to my death I'd fight to punch them all in the baby maker for thinkin/sayin' it.

I understand people will listen to anything, sadly, but when people start spewing shit out their mouths to try and belong to a group they most certainly don't know two shits about to be "different"... it pisses me off to no end.

As per LP, here, where I live two kinds of people listen to them. Kids with spiked necklaces, baggy black Jencos, and green hair. Kids that just look like they got ran over by a make-up train. Kudos to you if you're not one of those but that's the source of my rant. When LP does something unique, for music as a whole, I'll gladly bend over and take someones pee-pee in my hiney. However, they are a band of the charts so I know my butthole is safe.

You can't be creative, musically, and make money today. Look at how things are turning out for Opeth, In Flames, Soilwork, Katatonia. The more simplistic they get, the un-heavier they get, and begin to sound like everyone else, they sell way more records than ever before when their stuff was unheard of in talents. You know what all of these bands (Katatonia aside but not completly excluded due to close contacts in each mentioned band) have in common? It all started after they toured with bands like Mudvyne, Killswitch, Slipknot... When they came to America and Americanized (a.k.a ruined) their music... Can't fault them for wanting to get rich in the end and can't forget to thank them for the previous goldies but it is still sad to see this trend occuring more and more frequently now days. Even Dissection gave in... who'd of thought. Even made the guy off himself after he did it.

I've seen emo bands (shit sucks).... Linkin Park is not an emo band

Emo band = guys looking like unbathed girls with girly voices
Throw some suicide content and guitars into a boy band song and viola.

I had a friend that was cute, from a good family, plenty of money, then she turned emo and never shuts the fuck up about myspace and whining. She went from virgin to sleeping with 3-4 guys in the span of 6 months.

Guys she slept with: fat goth with checker board shaved head, guy with dick and nipples pierced that stole her car for a week, 16 year old emo boy with a horse face and crusty skin that sticks dildos in his ass (serial), and now another guy, dont know much about him though.

She's also the one that does all the cheating in these relationships yet always acts like the world is against her.
Stupid bitch.
