New linkin park album, Single and video

Sometimes emo guys where girls clothes too. I somewhat know a guy that wheres his sisters jeans. I just don't understand the way of life of an emo person. I agree though emo music is horrible. My brother listens to that crap and I can't stand it. He's not even emo either but no one says you have to be to listen to it. I listen to some rap and I'm white lol. Only rap songs with a good beat though. Theres a lot of rap songs out there I don't like.

I've seen emo bands (shit sucks).... Linkin Park is not an emo band

Emo band = guys looking like unbathed girls with girly voices
Throw some suicide content and guitars into a boy band song and viola.

I had a friend that was cute, from a good family, plenty of money, then she turned emo and never shuts the fuck up about myspace and whining. She went from virgin to sleeping with 3-4 guys in the span of 6 months.

Guys she slept with: fat goth with checker board shaved head, guy with dick and nipples pierced that stole her car for a week, 16 year old emo boy with a horse face and crusty skin that sticks dildos in his ass (serial), and now another guy, dont know much about him though.

She's also the one that does all the cheating in these relationships yet always acts like the world is against her.
Stupid bitch.

This is the funniest post from Westyle ever. It's also nice to see him talking about real shit once in awhile no? See, he's not all boob jokes.

The emo band description was a pretty good one too.

i never said they were goth or emo, i said another lp cd for the goth and emo kids to obssess over...

see, when a certain group of kids start listening to a band i listen to it ruins it for me...and thus i have to stop listening to it

like round my parts these scene girls like to create stupid little dances for the popular songs around here...i have to sit there and watch as they put the song on through my itunes and sit there and make fools out of themselves by doing their stupid little dance wrong...now everytime i listen to that particular song i see them doing their rediculous dance and thus it ruins the song...

case in point: back when i did listen to LP and thought they were pretty good i was in highschool and we had an end of the year picnic, with a dj and food and all that happy horseshit, they played an lp song, i was like "sweet, not gangster rap then i would have to stab someone" so i was getting into the song when i looked over and saw these little 10th grade goth girls danceing and singing the song to eachother like a bunch of mad dykes on fire island...right then and there i started to hate LP cause everytime i heard it i saw those dykie girls dancing around like hippies at woodstock

thats the reason i dont like LP anymore

btw heard their song on the way to school...didnt care for it too much sounded like it had potential but i was really in the mood for dethklok

I understand people will listen to anything, sadly, but when people start spewing shit out their mouths to try and belong to a group they most certainly don't know two shits about to be "different"... it pisses me off to no end.

As per LP, here, where I live two kinds of people listen to them. Kids with spiked necklaces, baggy black Jencos, and green hair. Kids that just look like they got ran over by a make-up train. Kudos to you if you're not one of those but that's the source of my rant. When LP does something unique, for music as a whole, I'll gladly bend over and take someones pee-pee in my hiney. However, they are a band of the charts so I know my butthole is safe.

You can't be creative, musically, and make money today.

So because a band is successful, they are doomed to make shitty music for all eternity? Is the only way to make great music to be stuck in your parent's basement, while playing shows at a local bar?

A lot of those bands that don't make bank, but are so damn creative just plain suck. They may have a hard core group of tone-deaf fans, but those are usually made up of people who only like things until somebody else does.

the funny part about this is its pretty characteristic of alot if not all emo kids, they have every reason to be happy yet they find (or make up in alot of cases) reasons to be "depressed" they have no clue what real depression is but when their so called "love of their life" breaks up with them they go into a downward spiral of heartache and pain and they commit themselves to a psyche ward cause they are gonna kill themselves over this person (they been dating for like a month btw)

they all crave the negative attention no matter how they get it, they have no real knowledge of love or true heartache or real life issues for that matter, they cut themselves over trivial bullshit and when the real big issues hit them they will crumble like the berlin wall...

this is me ranting cause one of my best friends is everything i described in this mini dictionary

Nope, there are a lot of great successful bands out there. They just don't appear on MTV.

Is the only way to make great music to be stuck in your parent's basement, while playing shows at a local bar?

Let's be real, most people stuck doing that are NOT making great music. There hasn't been a good local band here in Texas in years, sadly.

To undermine the success of bands you have no idea about is totally, well, idiotic. You don't even have a clue as to what bands I like and are going off assumptions I only listen to this stuff that comes out of garages. It couldn't be further from the truth, honestly. If you want to go ahead and call Korn, Disturbed, Justin Timberlake, Brittany Spears creative geniouses, that's fine and dandy. As I'm tone deaf, lawl, I'd go for you being musically challeneged on all levels but too each their own.

There are bands like Everygrey, Isis, Red Sparrowes, Aborted, Arsis, Vital Remains, (not forgetting some formentioned classics: Opeth, In Flames, Soilwork, Katatonia just because they have sense changed) and other bands from their genres making the paper/success but you'd never hear about them because they aren't on your precious hit list. May have heard of Isis but ONRY for them supporting Tool on the road. Now, you could say you hate the Death/Thrash/Ambient/Progressive metal worlds because -(insert whatever silly reason here)- but most of them that are sucessful and never heard of in the mainstream, if you want to talk money, have just as much as the chart toppers.

If everyone listened to the same stuff I did, I'd finally be pleased with the worlds musical taste. Then I wouldn't have to stomach half of the bullshit I hear daily about how awesome these nu-"metal" bands are. Sadly, it'll never happen.

There are no bands that appear on MTV. They can't fit music into the schedule between seven hundred episodes of My Super Sweet 16 and Next.

I have heard of some of those bands. I actually really like Evergrey.

I'm sorry if what I typed came off as an attack, I didn't mean it like that. All I'm saying is that it is possible for a band to be creative and great and still be a 'chart topper.' (These 'charts' are picked by assholes, why are we even talking about them?)

And music doesn't have to be creative to be enjoyable. Some songs are just fun to listen to. A song doesn't have to take you somewhere mentally to be good. Most songs are 3-4 min long. If you're looking for something with a deep meaning, read a book or watch a movie.

I agree with both Pasquale and Strid both.
The great thing about music is that it doesn't have to be anything. It doesn't owe anything to anyone. It is what it is. Different people find value in various types of music. That's a good thing!

The flipside is that there really is a bunch of garbage out there, and unfortunately, big marketing dollars push these "bands" too much. Give a group a little steam, or a leg up and see what they do with it...If they succeed, then market them and support them. I'm sick of labels trying to make something out of nothing.

To Pasquale's point about MTV not playing music, that's further proof that video killed the radio star. Radio is an exclusively aural experience, while television is both aural and visual. They took music and killed that idea with image so much in fact, that music almost completely does not exist. They've created a huge market of vanity, catering to youth that base their lives on that image. Quite literally pathetic.

Btw, who honestly watches MTV anymore? I think the last time I did, Beavis and Butthead were a regular series still...

And, I agree with Sneaky, there is a serious problem with todays method of finding "stars", which basically comes one of two ways, American Idol style contests, or being lucky enough to have a pretty frontman/woman that can carry your shitty band (or even if they can't the band's always replaceable these days).

I stopped watching it. I tune into it every now and then but nothing like I used too. Cox offers an MTV channel seperate that plays nothing but music videos all day long with maybe 1 or 2 commericals inbetween. I watch that quite often mostly to kill time during commericals from another show I'm watching. Thats as close to MTV is I get. Might as well call it RTV for Reality Television cause thats all that ever plays whenever I do check out that channel.

I stopped watching it (everyday) before you. I didn't like when they aired their 1st not music related program, Remote Control. I said: "wth? This is not music, this will be the end of MTV as we know it!" After that came The Real World and those other things... Now it seems MTV is the Bam Marguera Diary. lol

Now it seems MTV is the Bam Marguera Diary. lol

lawls. MTV officially had no more good left when Jackass split up. All the spin-offs of everyone who went and did something else afterward all suck balls. Bam's show is pretty fuckin gay, especially the new marriage w/e show he's got now, fuck that shit. Wild Boyz is kinda ok, but even if there's nothin else on I rarely watch it. Bring Jackass back and I'll tune in to MTV again.

Oh hey on a sidenote, VH1 finally did something cool. Anyone see Acceptable TV a week or two back? I haven't seen it on since then :( so I hope it didn't get cancled already, but that's a damn fine show.

Screw jackass, give me liquid TV back :(

even oddities would be sweet.

And y'know ... music.

I have to agree with Strid in a general sense. Very few bands come off as "unique" and "good" to me these days... probably for the similar reason that I like the music to be more than the same few chords played as the accompaniment.

Tool, I have to say has my vote for best modern group for the last several years. I have only been disappointed by their work few and far between moments.

System of a Down, 2nd to Tool, really comes off to me as the most unique band of recent time (though, I can't just say Tool is 100% unique, they have a very unique sound to them though). Some people bash me for liking them saying their songs make no sense... many of them have a meaning deeper than the comical impression Serge gives off. Of course, some of their songs are pretty much just random, but the way I see it, sometimes you just want to get up on a stage, pick up the mic, and flip the fuck out however you damn well please.

Everything else, honestly I've just found to be "bleh". Not that I -dislike- everything out there, but I don't find it to stand out. Most of the time I'll switch to classic rock stations in the car though. Can't go wrong with the oldies =]... y'know, cause is it just me or do a lot of modern artists release a RE-release of an oldie song and make bank off it? Fucking crooks I tell ya...

Korn I have an undying hatred for... well... it wasn't ever so bad until I heard Brick in the Wall by Pink Floyd on the radio. Only... it wasn't the same Wall that I had grown to love so much... but a screeching, petty, pathetic re-make of it by none other than Korn. Man I was ready to break my stereo when I heard that. Seriously.

And they play music. One thing MTV has never done in the history of it's existence though is play good music.

Bullshit. Though it was back when MJ was still black. =P

I liked Beavis and Butthead... and the Oddities was cool when they played The Maxx.

No better explanation could possibly be offered for a song like Vicinity of Obscenity.

I <3 that song.

sigh....every single line of every single song that System has ever done has a meaning, just because you can't see it or don't understand it doesn't mean it's not there. System is in no way just a "get up and be a dumbass" nonsensical kind of band.

And when has MTV ever played good music? When they were playing glam metal when they first went on the air? Or when they played no music at all? Or in recent years when they started playing rap? I've been watching MTV a long time and the closest thing I've seen to them playing good music is their Headbangers Ball, and even most of that stuff is pretty shitty. All MTV plays is whats popular at the time, w/e sells the best.

I don't understand how a kid with as much riches as those pricks in My Super Sweet Sixteen can be so unappreciative toward their parents... They do live a hard life I guess, el oh el.
