New low for human kind

Its reasons like this that i believe their should be a license to have kids.

Not being able to connect to a child emotionally does not mean it should be killed

I don't connect with my next door neighbors new born child, this is unacceptable. I'm going to go chop off it's head, now.

Pretty crazy line of thinking there, if that's what she was motivated by

Sounds like you don't know squat about PPD, look it up, it's terrible. It can be mild, so-so, or just flat out unforgiving. It also has nothin' to do with you unless you're the Mother of the child. Dads can get the Baby Blues, so can Mothers, but it's not even close to PPD. Probably wouldn't hurt to Google some news stories on it either to see how nasty it really is.

It's also feelings of resentment, anxiety etc., even Brooke Shields had it, she didn't go all nuts and murder her child, she seeked medical help. I think this woman was already a bit coo-coo to begin with.

It's already been proven that in her case it was very mild. However, I'm sure it could have festered into a shit storm had she let it continue. I don't think this woman was all there either, well, not "not all there" so much as just a half ass mother to begin with. Unfortunately though, this happens to good mothers as well, which I'm sure you know. I really wonder sometimes whether it's somethin' that can be stopped, treated, etc. when it gets to that point. You don't see a whole lot of PPD studies goin' around and at the rate it has been happenin' lately, someone should step it up. I'm pretty sure hospitals are suppose to give women who've just givin' birth, before their discharge, some sort of "do you have PPD" survey to view how likely they are to have it. However, my Sister never had to take it. Seems like one of those blow off things.

That's what I mean. People need a support system. Sometimes it's hard to see that there is something wrong until someone tells you, a lot of women with PPD are ashamed because they are supposed to love their children and they feel almost the opposite.

Idk what was wrong with this woman though, I could see shaking a baby in a case like that, but decapitation?

Agreed, unfortunately, there is no real way of policing this even IF it were to become some sort of law.....

Who knows, we've seen them shaken, drowned, shot, stabbed, and everything else under the sun at this point. That's why I'm sayin' someone needs to get out there and figure this out.

Yes, it is a horrible thing that makes a mother not connect with the child emotionally, like disassociation. Many women do go through this, but they do not resort to such a heinous act, they are aware of the situation and get help (psychological/psychiatric - prescription). (This is not all in response to you Strid, I quoted you because what you said was correct).

For some reason the internet where I work will allow me QCDN access but not to the article, I read it when it was first posted but I can't use it for confirmation. She has other kids? Are they all from the same father? Usually PPD has an accumulative effect, not something that would fester after such a short period of time. Obviously her other kids will be taken from her (or at least... I hope).

Looks like they were her sister's kids (whom she lived with). The article also says, "The baby was missing body parts, and police were investigating claims the mother made to them about ingesting those parts, sources said." So yeah I'm guessing that this lady had some serious issues even beyond the norm in this kind of gruesome situation. :(

I do not think she has any form of PPD. I think she is mentally disturbed. Period. To kill your infant, skin it and ingest it, that's just... there's not even a word for it.

And yes, I also agree that there should be a license to have kids, but being how you cannot police it (i.e. what will you do with the kids that are born without the license, what will you do with immigrants who do not have the license, what will you do with people who vacation here and have children just to have them bought by someone who lives here... it has to be regulated globally) it is not realistic, unfortunately.

Well, if it wasn't her kid then no grounds for PPD.

It was her kid, the other kids in the house were her sister's (who also lived there). Like Mire said, it's pretty obvious that this lady had something way beyond PPD wrong with her.

Ah, I thought the one murdered was her kid, but didn't feel like re-readin' so thought when you brought up your last post on it I'd settle with that. I misread your post I guess. Who knows though, in both PPD cases I mentioned that happened here last summer the mothers both heard voices that lead to the killings of their entire litter, among a few other common things with this lady. I don't know how strong PPD really is, these were said to both be great parents, previously, with no issues, and personally I don't want to find out from a personal experience how viscous it can be.

Mental illnesses will always be this way though, you never really know unless it happens to you, how bad it can be. A lot of the times it seems like bullshit to me, almost like "I saw a ghost!" I had a step-mother at one time that had anger issues, she'd be lovely one second and tryin' to beat the hell out of you, or findin' a reason too, the next. I never bought her "I'm sorry I can't help it" so I can understand the thoughts here, opposin' mine, as well.

Mild Schizophrenia or Bipolar Disorder would probably be the diagnosis. People like to diagnose regardless though. For some reason people don't want to admit when someone is just bat-shit crazy. "They're crazy for a reason!" Yes, but that does not exempt them from obeying the law. Get help. Therapeutic or prescription, whichever works. The main problem is people not noticing there is a problem till it's too late.

I didn't know that I was hypoglycemic until recently. I lived alone and no one was around to tell me I was "acting funny" (because it was usually later in the evening) when I hadn't had enough sugar. My boyfriend (who I live with now) notices when I have a "funny look" in my eyes and tells me to eat bread, crackers, or drink orange juice. Severe side effects from hypoglycemia can even be coma, I just thought I got tired easily.

I don't think this woman was suffering from anything but a case of the crazies.

Not being a fan of the death penalty, I think this bitch needs to be shot in every hole in her body and left to bleed to death.

How you doin'.

It's not nearly the fact that she killed her own kid, because yes, abortions do happen. It's the fact she decided to have the child, then 2 weeks later, "voices" told her to stab her own infant child and then decapatate it.

I want to make a joke I do, but I wont.

She's going to the crazy house that's the worst part. She gets off easy.
