Me and from friends from Machina are going to be trying to tackle Nyzul Isle. What are we in store for? We have done this before, but only maybe managed to get to level 4 or 5 and then run out of time, or die. We only played around in it when it was first introduced.

I've read all what ffxiclopedia has to offer, but I'm looking to find out more from people who have done it.

1. What should you bring?
2. The NMs in there drop ??? items, are they sometimes the same items they would drop outside of Nyzul Isle?
3. How tough are the bosses @ Floors 20, 40, 60, etc...?
4. Is it good practice to Exit and Save every 5 floors?
5. Only the Armband Leader will have the Floor Data saved, correct?
6. Can you return to a previous floor and attack Mega Boss again and again? (like floors 20, 40, 60, etc...)

Thanks! :)

1. What should you bring?
Your best gear, food, RR item
2. The NMs in there drop ??? items, are they sometimes the same items they would drop outside of Nyzul Isle?
Yes
3. How tough are the bosses @ Floors 20, 40, 60, etc...?
I only have fought the Adamantoise on floor 20cause it's the only one to pop when I go. Wasn't too bad of a fight if you have a balanced setup.
4. Is it good practice to Exit and Save every 5 floors?
You have to exit after 5 floors. As for saving, usually yes you would want to save.
5. Only the Armband Leader will have the Floor Data saved, correct?
I have never saved the floor data on a disk but I think yes is the answer to this.
6. Can you return to a previous floor and attack Mega Boss again and again? (like floors 20, 40, 60, etc...)
Yes you can return to previous floors but you can;t return to floor 20. If you want to fight the floor 20 Mega Boss you have to start at floor 16 and do the five floors again.

Hope that helps

Gonna expand a bit on what Kermadec said.
1. What should you bring?
While it's good to bring a RR item, after a few runs your members should have enough tokens to purchase dusty reraise (although the people in my static who use it every run tell me it doesn't last the whole run).
2. The NMs in there drop ??? items, are they sometimes the same items they would drop outside of Nyzul Isle?
Yes
3. How tough are the bosses @ Floors 20, 40, 60, etc...?
Fafnir sucks ; ;
My static has yet to get past 45, but we've fought all three floor 20 and 40 bosses. Adamantoise seems to be the easiest, followed by Behemoth then Fafnir.
4. Is it good practice to Exit and Save every 5 floors?
You don't -HAVE- to exit every five floors, but if you go up one more and lose/run out of time, you'll be back to where you entered next run.
5. Only the Armband Leader will have the Floor Data saved, correct?
No. Armband leader gets the token bonus from winning, but the person who clicks on the lamp at the entrance is considered the "leader", and the game will read off his runic disk. It's good practice to keep two runic disks so that one leader can farm tokens for his runs while the other can progress.
6. Can you return to a previous floor and attack Mega Boss again and again? (like floors 20, 40, 60, etc...)
Yes, but you'll have to start on floor 16/36/56/76.

Good luck with your static! ^^

TY guys for the help and advice. I'm sure I'll be flooding you all with more questions soon enough ;)

exspect to have very high time contraints. one realiably person should be your sole disc holder. Followed by a secondary disc holder post 60 because i think it's around 71~ where token profit to cost reaches a negitive.

about the bosses; each bosses (pending the floor 100 boss) dont share thier most noteable traits. adamantosie dosent retreat into his shell, fafnir's roar dosent dispel all buffs (think thats only nid, w/e) behemoth dosent meteor.

cerebrus dosent gates of hades, khim dosent ulhidation (sp?) and hydra idk we never get him... get cerebus 90% of the time.

floors, easy to hardest

1) free floor

2) activate lamps ( all toucher ) - everyone touches the single lamp to register your code. once all touch rune is activated

3) eliminated specific enemy - find a mob that would normally check too weak ~ incredibly tough in the real game, but would check impossible to gauge here.

4) kill all enemies - kill everything on the floor, NM's and ramparts included

4) activate lamps (same time) - find all the lamps 3~5 and hit them at the same time.

5) kill leader - find a NM thats not found in the real game, and kill it. ussually mokka (imp) mint custard (flan) qurin or psyeflayer

6) activate lamps (order) - incredibly hard for first timers, find all the lamps 3~5 and have someone call an order person A person B person C person D

they will come on once that order is set, if a persons light remains on, they stay in that spot in the order, others rotate. thou they will have to hit it again once a new order is found.

7) kill specific enemies - the major time killer unless it's imps. find a group of mobs that check impossible to gauge and kill them. ussually qurin, imp, psyceflayers, flans

non-disc holders should spend thier points on the chest in the begining for mana/body boost and elixers. try not to make the main healer of the group the disc holder as thier mana boost is most important for boss and being disc holder they would never be able to get one logically

I'd have to disagree with you on your difficulty order. My static usually has our bard go out and pull for specific enemy/enemies/boss. Eliminate boss can be a pain in the ass without proper preparation, as soulflayers and flans can litteraly hand you your ass if you're not careful.
Don't ever expect a free floor. It's nice to get every once in a while, but relying on it isn't feasible. My static's only gotten one so far.
The activate lamps in order gave my static some trouble at first, and it can be hard if you let people clutter the chat with complaints and panic. Keep your cool, and make sure there's a designated lamp order caller for every run. The way we work it out is we activate them as we find them, then once they flicker on, we work our order from there. Say there's four lamps, and after finding them and activating in this order:
Player A, Player B, Player C, Player D
Player A's lamp stays lit, while the other ones go out. So our new order would be
Player A, Player C, Player D, Player B
so on and so forth.

1. Oils, powders, reraise and whatever you would need normally. There are a couple of objectives in which you will need to sneak and invis to get around while avoiding agro. Normally, you could leech off a mage, but in this case with such a strict time limit, it would wise to bring your own. A full stack would be best, but you can do with less. This also includes mages since there are bombs, pots and other magic agro mobs which could make it difficult. Like others suggested, reraise items are a good idea. You can bring any form you like and if you have spare credits, you can get the temp item before you enter, but I would suggest multiple in case you have a very bad floor (read: psychflayers).

2. NMs will leave behind chests after you kill them and a ??? item is inside. Remember to get them before you move onto next floor. To date, I think we got one item appraised into it's outside counterpart and it was the spear from Juggler-Hecatomb which is junk. But don't use that as a good guide, I didn't get far before static dissolved and I have not had time to get a new one lately. Not sure how TH effects drop rate/appraisal since it comes from a chest and not the actual NM.

Don't confuse this with bosses though, they do not drop chests and item will be automatically added to treasure pool. In the case of the boss, lot items fast and make sure people know who is and is not lotting since you'll probably be very short on time. In a couple of instances, a person had to homepoint since there was no time between when we could raise and being kicked from the area (all treasure pool is lost).

3. They are tough. The bosses are about as hard as the real versions and you are limited to only 6 members, but they do have less HP as well. A well balanced group and a SC would make for the best setup in my opinion. I have not done the floors with Cerberus, Khimaira and Hydra so I cannot speak for those unfortunately.

4. Yes. You have a strict time limit and progress will only be saved every 5 levels. However, if it's not progress you're worried about, then exit early or later without worry. If you're short on time or have a huge excess and progressed further than your current level, it would be best to not save on 5th just to get the credits. In my case and I'd assume if your static works properly, you should never have to farm credits(except at the beginning) simply because you should complete runs often enough to save and exit while either progressing on higher levels or farming bosses. You earn enough points each successful run to start the next set of floors.

5. Not sure on this one, the static leader took care of it all for us and used his points and always carried armband.

6. You can redo every floor except floor 96 and must start on floors 1, 6, 11, etc. You can repeat the boss fights as many times as you like until all members in your static or even outside the static are satisfied. However, it's my understanding that once you defeat the 100th floor boss which drops some of the best pieces (head equip), you lose your save data and must start over. If you lose floor 96, you can repeat it until you do.

The bosses aren't even close to the difficulty of the real versions; they're much, much easier. My static has killed them with 5 before, with plenty of time to spare. They're not slouches, but they're very easy with a just balanced party.

Also, if you're farming the boss, get a Fanatic's drink for the boss. It says nulifies physical, but a lot of the magical AoE's count as physical inside Nyzul Isle. It's a much easier fight when you don't have to worry about things like Thunderbolt or Hurricane Wing at all.

A Spy's drink is also a great item, since it gives a MASSIVE haste effect; double the strength of a normal haste so let your mages know so they don't overwrite it.

I have a question of my own.

Say your static is up to floor ## from 1 person's runic disc. If you wanted to have a secondary disc holder, would you have to start over for someone else?

Yes, you'd have to start over because each person has their own disc. So for a second disc holder, you'd have to work on their disc starting at the beginning.

So does that mean the information is retained at the start and it's saved automatically to the person who chose the floor at the beginning of the run? Versus saving to the person who chose to exit and save at the end of the run? And does that mean anyone can chose to save at the end of run regardless rather than having one key person always do it?

It's saved to the disc of the person who selected the floor you'd go to. Anyone can end the run, but only the person who's disk you used to enter will have the progress saved.

Well we did 3 runs last night 1st being the trial and got to floor 4 and the next run we got to floor 4 again and then on the 3rd run we got to floor 5, but didn't finish. most of us were dead at the start of floor 5.

It was a fun time. I guess you have to beat floor 5 and the save happens between floors 5-6?

We got the drop from Frostmane the sword he normally would drop. Which was cool ;)

Once you beat and save on floor five, the option on the next run to start on floor six will be available.

Congrats on your runs though, we started the same way. The first few runs we didn't know what to expect as much especially since it was brand new when I did it. Once you get into the winning motion though, it'll get a lot easier and you can pop off wins like it was nothing at all.

yeah, after a while everyone knows what thier suppose to do, it comes second nature. sometime you just have to cut your losses and exit on the 19, 39, 59 ect floor just to cut your losses if you can reasonablly beat the boss with the given time.

with a few melee meds and maybe a 2hr, any boss shouldnt take more then 4 1/2 minutes

I'll gauge the time the next time my static does a boss, but I could swear it doesn't take that long even without 2hrs :x

Yeah, your progress gets saved every 5 floors; you have to beat the 5th floor for it to be saved as well. Also, you have to actually leave on your own; you can't keep going and get kicked out or it won't save that progress. Usually you'll shoot for just moving up 5 floors per tag; I think only one time did we get lucky enough to move up 10 in a single go.

Was 9 floors.

I don't think anyone specified it but just in case, the way to save your progress is to choose the Exit Assault option, AFTER you beat the 5th floor. Do not choose to go up and think you'll be able to save when you're on floor 6. Once you beat floor 5, choose Exit.

Also, I want to add 2 things that might help you. First one is Ventrilo. Get your static on it (you can download and use the free version). It helps a LOT, especially for lamp floors. It also avoids unecessary aggro for those who don't see mobs on their radar by having someone call out what's around your group.

I run 2 static a week (on floor 60 now) and usually our strat is pretty basic. We check the rune then 2 people (always the same ones as much as possible) will go in different direction to find either the leader, specific mob, mob types and where they are and a lamp if needed. Then we pull to the rune or a safe spot (bring powder and oils). Kill all is the only time we all go together. One person just keeps pulling without evere engaging. Even if the group is still figthing, pull and kite/sleep.

Second thing I want to add are temporary items you get from the Vending Machine. Learn which does what and use them. Take some time before entering to go over who gets what. If you use 2 discs, that means 4 people are never gonna use their tokens for anything, mind as well get items. We allow 1 min for that ourselves (time starts when the Loading area message appears, except for the armband leader, he always gets in late. For him, once the runic portal animation start is when the assault begins). For farming floors it's not much of an issue, unless people have 25K tokens, but for boss attempts, it's worth it. Fanatic's for everyone (gives 1 min invincible), mage can get Oracle's, Assassin's or Ether. Melee can get Barbarian, Champions or Monarch's. If someone pulls too much hate every time, have him get Gnostic. For exemple, as NIN and main disc holder, I always get Fanatic and either Barbarian or Monarch. For floor 60-80-100, have all melee get Champion (raise crit %).

Oh and one more thing. At first we didn't bothered with chests that pop after killing mobs (other then item ones obviously). We recently started practicing using them and I'd recommend it. Again Vent comes in handy, making it a lot easier to coordinate who gets what. Have a non-pulling member check it and call what's in it, then the leader instruct who gets it. But you need to know what drinks does what. You can't look it up on the go. If you can do that efficiently without wasting time, your runs will go smoother with the extra helps from the items.

Hope that helps, good luck.
