New PHPBB Theme!

My suggestion is to apply a new theme to this message board. Although the default style is clean, it could use some personality. Here is a good resource for previewing a few different quality phpbb styles:

A contest?

And perhaps, if the admin of this message board is not satisfied with any other templates, we could make a contest to develop one for this board?
 
I will look into it. I am not much into PHP at all, and this template allows for some custom mods we are using. Those mods can of course be implemented into other templates as well, would just need someone to do that.

I am not opposed to a design contest, I am just worried that it will take a lot of time for someone to make a template, perhaps more time than people are willing to spend.

A new template would have to be functional above everything else, enough contrast to read stuff, even for people with not so good eyesight. Buttons that don't require guesswork as far as what their purpose is. It would need to be a template that works on any resolution, perhaps starting at 800x600 or so.

It's not easy to make design choices that will work equally well for everyone, I agree that the board could use a little more of an FFXI theme, but I have no clue where to even start working on that, nor do I really have the time to create a new template.

Perhaps a new template could be a team effort? (Though I am of the "if you want to do it right, do it yourself" kind.) But a template seems like a lot of work and perhaps it does make sense to split that work up among able parties.

visit the downloads section on phpbb.com thats where i got all the templates for my clans forums. We have about 10 installed currently. If you need any help with this stuff contact me via pm.
 
Well, basically so far no one pointed out which theme they would like, and I really don't have the time to install a bunch of themes just cause, because any installed theme will have to be manually edited to implement some of the mods we are using here.

I am not opposed to doing that if someone is absolutely dying to use their fav theme, on the other hand I don't want to put in that effort if those themes will just sit there unused.
 
I know, ooooolllldddd post, but there's a program that allows easy mod installment, conveiently named EasyMod. You can get it at www.phpbb.area51.com I believe, if it's down you can just google the program.

If you get it installed(this is directed toward Pupusa), I could help you with the installation of the mods through EM, so it works with the other templates.

Mods I think could be useful:

-Cash mod~ Allows users to gain a certian amount of "cash" per post, usable with the Store mod to buy effects, such as custom titles, bold user name, faded, etc.

-Store mod~ Read above

-Easy mod~ The basic mod installer, works with most all mods made for PhpBB.

If ya want i can make a Template real fast (FFXI based)

then when ima finnised i'll show ya my work on a forum ^^
