New player question

Me and my friend ordered the game/expansion a few days ago and I'll be getting it in about 8 hours through the post ~.~

I did some reading up and read that you can't choose what world you're on and if you wish to play another world you need to use a World Pass. How much are they? because we were just going to try and bum one off someone because I don't wanna be playing on my own =/

Any information would be great ^_^
 
They don't cost too much. If you want I can get you one in the morning? Same time zones and all. If you want me to just leave a post here, i'm guessing you'll be getting the post delivered around 7-9am?

I just read and posted on the sticky thread. I usually get the post around 9:30-10am, me and my friend would be totally stoked if you could get us a pass Cleofis. =)
 
Right well the updates take a while once you've installed and stuff. Try the one in the Weekly Worldpass thread and like I said if that doesn't work PM me and i'll get you one :)

I ordered the FFXI box which comes with the first 2, Promathia and something else, and Treasures of Art Uhrgan, you think I'll need to download much else?
 
Oh yeah...how do I actually use a World Pass?

I suppose I should wait for the game to come with the instruction manual. Noob questions ftw. =)

Not really updates, since Treasure of Aht Urghan is pretty up to date. Still gotta sit through the horrible file scan, but it's not actually going to update much.
 
You use the World pass after you type in your Character's name, then two more blank options will appear. Hope you got yourself a World pass and into the same world as your friend.

It's pretty neat since my RL friend just started playing FFXI this week.
 
Nice to meet you, Saetia. (Our names are a little alike!)

When you make your character, you enter a name after you select race, gender, hair, body size, etc. Right after you enter the name, it'll say: "World: None selected." DON'T HIT ENTER, just type "Quetzalcoatl" (presuming you're wanting to come here >.>) then hit Enter. If you hit Enter at "None selected" it'll bump you to a random server, probably some godforsaken one.

After you type in "Quetzalcoatl" as your world name, it'll say "Password: _______" This is where the worldpass is entered, the WP will be a 10-digit number. I've screwed up typing in the worldpass many times so try to be precise with the digits. If that works, and your name is free on our server, it'll bump you right to the country selection screen.
