I'm not entirely new but, completely new to the server. It's hard starting up and I was wondering if anyone else was either just joining or making a new character too. Most old players stick together and team but, people just starting out don't know anyone and are sometimes ignored by veteran players. So how about all of us new players stick together and learn the game ?

Please post on this thread if your interested or tell Drift in game if your interested

I might not recommend that. Know at least one veteran who can really show you some of the "What not to do"'s.

Hey whats up! welcome to the server and Welcome to Qcdn. If you need help getting around, rank missions, Fame, or someone just to help you get started hit me up on game..

In game name is Bumblebetuna ^^

If the CSR's don't give me a happy answer when I get in contact with them today I'll be an old player returning to the game with a new account, if they do give me a happy answer I'll be returning with my existing character, in either case I'll be willing to help as much as I can as well.

I wouldnt mind starting up a new char, I got a taru I been meaning to run around

So I'm thinking that it'll be quicker and easier for me to just create a new account since I have no clue what my old CC info was, my query at this point is what job to take to 75, I was playing a Mythra RDM, but I'm kinda thinking of going with an Elvaan this time, and am torn between taking pld or pup to 75 first.

Pld would have a much easier time finding parties, if you choose pup, be prepared to solo alot. It's not that it's a particularly bad job, but it's very hard to gear well and many people play it badly, which has given it a shitty reputation.

On my existing account, my PUP's in the low 20's I think 22, so I've got a little experience playing one. Though I fully understand the common misconceptions that PUP's a bad job. I'm thinking that if I go the PUP rout I'll start off as a WAR, level to 18 then take MNK to 37, unlock PUP and level it to 75. Alternitativly if I go the PLD route I'll start with MNK then get WAR to 37 and then get PLD to 75

Level both to 37, then use PLD for party fun, and PUP for solo fun. Win/Win for whatever you are in the mood for :)

And /welcome.

I remember when PLD never got invites to parties :glare:

Tanks are far and few in between, but if you really want to level PUP, you could always do what my friend did and make your own parties. I've been told that a PUP can do well in campaign as well.

I was actually planning to become a pup, maybe we could duo when we both unlock it

PLD + PUP might be quite hard for first jobs. As people expect them to be well geared to be good. Maybe try messing around on other jobs first and you might suprise yourself on what you like. :P

On my previous account I've been playing since the US Release. I'd go back to that account but I don't have the CC info that PoL's looking for /cry PLD was a fun job even though on my old character I only got it up to 25, though you are correct, the problem is I like all of the jobs, in the past I've leveled them all to 10+ most of them to 20+, one thing I know for certain my RDM will only go to 37 max. Being a refresh whore sucks...

On another note I seem to have accidentally hijacked this thread, I'll return it to it's proper owners at this time :)

I don't know... I remember when I started playing way back when we were all new, FFXI was really an adventure. I was excited to climb the ranks and level gradually. Everything was fun. That feeling just isn't there anymore, if he mooches completely off a vet it kind of makes this game meaningless if a majority of the aspects are just spoiled to him.

Kind of hate the fact lvling a job seems more like a chore now instead of a real adventure. But it is what it is after 4-5 years I guess.

I couldn't have put it better myself. The bolded especially.
