Adventurers, take up your swords and staves! A plethora of action-packed quests is currently in the works for the upcoming FINAL FANTASY XI version update. For more details on what lies ahead, click here!

The following is a sample of the excitement that awaits:

*A quest requiring adventurers to deliver a lost chocobo to its home stables. Test your riding skills while competing for jaw-dropping prizes and the title of "Vana'diel's Fastest"!

*Quests to obtain masks designed after your favorite beastmen. Only those who obtain the unique headwear will be able to unlock the equipment's true power...

And that is only the beginning! Keep your eyes glued to this page for the latest in update information!


So, thoughts? I think the first quest is gonna be a race of some sort, hopefully with some good/useful prizes. Hopefully it'll wind up being a permenant thing, and not just a one-time deal. The second one sounds pretty neat - the picture of characters wearing the masks looks cool. Hopefully it won't be a long/annoying/expensive quest like mannequins are...
 
hmm...the beastmen masks quest sounds fairly intriguing. i wouldn't mind "unlocking the power" of the quadav (a.k.a. turtles). :lol:

But these new quests sound like a lot of fun. Hopefully SE does em right, because they look like they have the potential to be awesome
 
Hmm....this does sound interesting. Being the fastest chocobo rider this side of Tahrongi Canyon, I wonder what kinds of goodies one could win o.o;;

And perhaps those masks "hidden power" is making it so you don't catch aggro from mobs of that type when wearing the mask, IE: When wearing the orc mask in Davoi you don't catch aggro from orcs.

That would be badass o.o;

That mini quest was tough but not as tough as dodging lightning 200 times in a row. lol

I would love to rock the Goblin Hat. BOMB TOSS

That Goblin Mask would look Awesome on Tarutarus. It makes them look
like little Aviators.

run on my Rolanberry Vineyard?
 
After the next version update. I have always wanted a chocobo race event. The only thing I worry about is choc's lag pretty bad. Whenever you see another person on a chocobo they are usually 1-2 seconds run ahead of where you actually see them. So while you look to be just ahead, you might actually be behind. :? Could turn some close victories into confusing loses.

I'm not sure a Taru in an Orc mask is going to fool even the dumbest Orc... (and Orc's are pretty dumb...) :P
 
ooh ooh i like the chocobo races idea! another thing they coulda add tho is chocobo betting =O! like the fastest racers can gain reputations and you know, place some gil on your favorite =P make it like FF7 style, and maybe even toss in that music! ~wark! XP

OMG i hated that thing SOO much. It would be cool with a taru with some beastman masks on XD

I hated it too, I eventally mastered it after breaking 1 remote, and two PS2 controllers. Later, doing, the lightning dodge mini game, I came to realization, that I will never complete this, and to move on. The reward wasn't that great to me at time I think.
