Hi all,

I've just read about the new registration policy.
In summary (that is if I understand it right):
- The main game and all the expansion packs registration codes will be grouped into ONE single registration code
- that single registration code will be lock to one single Content ID

What it means:
- you can't log on your friends character from your computer/Xbox/PS2 anymore because your registration code won't match the one on your friends character
- No more character buying/selling business for RMTs

Does that sound right to you?

I'm reading the article here: http://www.playonline.com/pcd/topics/ff11us/detail/2503/detail.html

But I don't see where it says that you can't log on from a friends PC/console. Basically what I'm gathering is that when you buy the collection, use of one registration code on one Content ID means the rest of those codes have to be used on that Content ID or can't be used at all.

Character buying/selling would not be effected by this change from what I'm reading. The code is only locked to content ID, not a MAC address or anything.

This has virtually nothing to do with RMT.
It simply means the registration code can only be used for a new account pretty much since it lumps all the other expanded registrations into one. Existing customers will need to use a stand alone expansion registration code in order to play.

Basically, it's SE's way of saying: "New players plz play, old players get to pay!"

Pretty sure this just relates to buying that special version if you're buying ffxi for the first time. A few months ago when I built my new pc I didn't feel like digging through all of my gaming boxes to find my ffxi discs so I bought the Vana'diel 2007 collection. After I installed it and logged into pol on my usual account, I never had to register anything. So I have a full set of ffxi reg codes that are unused that came with the 2007 collection. So basically if you install the game from a new version of the collection but use your old already registered account, you don't have to do anything new.

I'm assuming this announcement relates to the new way of registering the 2008 collection meaning that if you buy the 08 collection you'll need to register the newest expansion included in some special way since it'll come with that one master code. None of this has anything to do with RMT or logging into ffxi from a friend's house though.

That means "all for one, and one for all". <What?> SE is encouraging players to get the cheaper WotG expansion over the more expesive VanaCollection2007... O.O

I see now.

I was under the impression that since your playonline ID is linked to your registration codes, you wouldn't be able to use it on a different computer/console, since the registration codes on the 2nd comp/console will be different.

Am I just confusing myself?

The codes are associated with you, meaning that someone else couldn't use them after you do. You aren't required to give new codes if you log into a different location from normal using someone else's POL. This notice only relates to the 08 collection which apparently uses a new special way to register NEW members.

I'm a little bummed out that Squeenix is going with the one code for the WotG Collection. Ive only got FFXI and RotZ for PS2 (the other expansions are on PC) and I was planning to get the collection and put the whole thing on my PS3, but now I can't use the code that comes with it. I'll just have to borrow my buddy's CoP & ToAU and get the stand alone WotG.
