Looking at buying new speakers for my computer. Narrowed it down to 2 choices:
Klipsch Promedia Ultra 5.1
Creative Gigaworks S750
Wattage and output don't matter to me, I won't be cranking these things too terribly loud anytime in the near future (cranky old people in the townhouse next to me). What I'm after is strictly mid- and high-range listening pleasure, primarily for music but I play a lot of PC games too (FPS, RPG, some strategy).
The 7 satellites of the Gigaworks rig is nice, but my room does not allow for the additional side channels very well so I would end up only using 5 speakers for now. Also the high-centred port of the Gigaworks sub is a bit of a miff to me, but that shouldn't make any difference seeing as I won't be pushing the subs too hard.
I want these things to sound freakin' fantastic at flat-EQ settings. I hate bumping high/mid/low bands too far from point zero. My past experience with Klipsch is making me lean towards the Promedia's, but that's largely a chunk of brand loyalty blinding my vision. I haven't found any stores that have the Gigaworks on display.
A friend of mine has been using the Klipsch set for about 6 years now, and god damnit do they sound nice. Smooth balanced midrange, soft yet crisp highs, and incredibly well-tuned and smooth lows. I've never heard the Gigaworks, which is why I turn to my fellow QCDNers. Has anyone listened to and compared these sets?
