Is anyone unable to update? I download the files but once i start installing them i get Error Code: POL-1160. Im prettu sure it isnt my connection or network because everything else is working fine. Im logged into Playonline and everything, its just when i start to install the files. Is anyone else having this problem? I see ppl online, maybe theyre not playing,....is the server down? says it isnt at playonline.com. Im unsure what could be wrong.
 
I got the same error message for 2 times and then able to connect to the server for the update.
(..now updating...still 3 hours to go =_=")
(3:00am UTC now)

Maybe you try to update later, I think the error message is due to a amounts of players updating at the same time and the server cannot afford this....
 
three tries straight, then i got in. you might want to keep trying ^_^ or at least, every now and then...2 hours to go...
 
aye, got in, cept i had to retry a whooolee lotta times, but i got it....after an hour break from trying, hehe. thanks for the replies, put my mind at ease after i started messing with my router, hehe.
 
At least twice till it starts checkign the information. Then kicked back... try again and now it scans the files, then kicked back... restart from checking update information. Repeat this 50 times...-_-;; And the patch itself took me 2hours for Cable modem. My friend with 56k took 4hours...

Edit: The logging server in FFXI is much worse than in EQ -_-; At least in EQ you just broke your keyboard... In FFXI I might punch the monitor.
 
Yeah I had a lot of problems too....which is weird because I've never had them before! I think the game is just too overloaded with people at this point and downloading the patches is even turning into a problem.

I opt to throw the mouse...It has a cord and is teathered to the computer, so it can't go too far =)
 
LOL.. who needs a mouse for ffxi anyways! ha

It took me 2-3 hours to update last night... but I finally got on.. there were only 1000 people on the server at that time. Made for getting a party, really difficult..
 
Yeah, same happened to me. I started trying to get the update at like 10 o' clock last night, and gave up after about a half hour of repeated server busy messages. Kept trying again ever once in awhile, but kept getting the same results. Finally, at about 12:30 or so, I got it to go, and didn't minimize it to do other things in the background like I did all the previous times. It finally went through, and by 2:30, the update was finished. So now I'm getting in trouble in my English class for sleeping 'cause I was up so damn late trying to get the update working. XD

Bah, nobody cares about english class, if ur gonna sleep in class,english is the one to do it in. What you SHOULD worry about are those nervous twitches everyone gets while sleeping.

It was happening to me earlier today, I don't know if it is still happening but I'll be on later to see.

Hahaha.. nervous twitch/dream twitch hahah. Thanks to this damn update that happened to me. What I SHOULD have done was once I saw it downloading the necessary files.. I should have went to bed to catch up on some needed sleep. Of course I didnt.. so the next day at a staff meeting, some dude was giving a presentation (via Infocus machine) and it was dark. I nodded off and had a dream of me shield bashing something... well..use your imagination. My dream twitch caused a bunch of dry markers to fly across the room. All the dude had to say was.. "I guess you don't agree with my figures" LOL. If I were an anime character at the time, I would've been beet red with a permanent tear drop on the back of my head^^.

Haha, I actually ended up getting a detention for sleeping there, as my teacher has gotten tired of me always sleeping there. ^^;; Luckily, I can't disturb anyone with dream twitches since I sit at the front, but unfortunately, this means the teacher always sees me sleeping. : / But detention was cool; I couldn't serve it, so they gave me a class period worth of internal suspension, which meant I got to go sit in a nearly empty class and catch up on my reading instead of taking a test. XD
 
Remember that window before you can finally log into FFXI, the one with the paraphrase "don't forget about your school"? Seriously, FFXI will always be there, and nothing that happens to all the zero's and one's, the pixels, is ever as important as doing well in school, or work, or at home with ones family.

It's much tougher to make up for a previous screw up than to get it right in the first place. So I guess what I am saying is School >>> FFXI all the way.

Yes, but the thing is, I can still manage to pass the class without much trouble even with the sleeping. :P (I slept in that class even more last quarter, and I still managed a B in a class that most people are failing) And I won't get into this discussion here, but truthfully, the class, though required for me to graduate, is completely useless to my overall education. If the class were more important, I would be a lot more serious about it, believe you me. :P
 
Just have fun and have a little self discipline is all I say. Remember that disclaimer before you play? RL > FFXI Life Period. Anyways.. this Multihit weaponskill TP accumulation nerf is really annoying. I feel bad for those(NON SAM) who wont get the chance to spam Penta Thrust as well as any other multihit weaponskills /cry . I do like how when you cast sneak now.. nothing can be heard when running. I use the footsteps sound as an indicator that someone didnt speak up when their Sneak wore out and then /slap them ^^.
