Hey guys & gals!

I'm about 5 months into the game and wet behind the ears on most of the expansion missions.

Just curious what it takes to tackle the Zilart and Chains of Promathia Missions.

Unless someone brings to light otherwise, I don't plan on hitting up too much on ToAU missions until I have a 75 job w/some merits under my belt.

I'm Currently on
San d'Oria 6-1 - Leaute's Last Wishes
ZM 4 - The Temple of Uggalepih
PM 1-2 - Below the Arks
AU 4 - Knight of Gold

Jobs 29+ (I hear something about CoP being level-capped at 30 for the starter Promyvions.)

WAR29 WHM34 RDM67 PLD56 NIN30 BLM32 PUP48

Working on a 75 Job sooner or later, probably PLD or RDM.

What level @ minimum should I be before taking on ZM / CoP?

Which jobs are most useful?
Perhaps I can shift focus to one of the more desirable jobs.

Do I need a static crew or these missions easy to find a pickup team for?

Should I have a certain amount of Gil before attempting to start the missions?

If so, what items/other miscellaneous expenses are there gil/item wise as to not gimp the people I'm running with?

I'm willing to static through the missions for any who'll have me, so long as the time is agreeable to all parties concerned. I live in GMT-5 EST

Any positive advice/comments/suggestions are appreciated as I'd like to get these missions and eventually my nation missions under my belt sooner or later. ^_^;

I'm rather ignorant to some aspects of the game and figure some of you vets could have some useful input in regard to the matter.

Thanks!

-Lec

http://promathia.runtimerepairs.com/ - For all CoP info
You can go to http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Main_Page
for other ingame mission info, or some other sites.

Out of all the missions, CoP will be the hardest you'll ever come across as most are capped fights. Luckily now you don't lose any exp in the battles for CoP, but you'll need a chunkful of gil for it to spend towards capped armor, meds, food, RR items, etc. to be successful, and you'll probably want a static for those missions too.

As for ZM, ToAU, they are a little easier, ToAU has been the easiest I've encountered so far, yet for most of these missions later on, you'll want to have at least on job 70+.

Apparently Thf is one of the most useless jobs for CoP though, but Rdm and Pld is useful for CoP and any of the other missions, so you'll be fine with that direction if you take your rdm at least a few more lvls up.

It appears like you have the right jobs though for a lot of capped fights in CoP, so you should be fine there, and for ZMs and ToAU I suggest you take your rdm to them and lvl that up unless you wish to dedicate time to get your pld another 14 or more lvls.

Good luck, the missions are really fun with some great storylines and rewards too, especially from CoP.

dude youve been playing 3 years less than me and have a job higher >.>

lol... I've been playing about a year and 8 months and got two lvl 75 jobs, pretty much all missions completed, and some other jobs 30+... and a lot of other crap done on my char :D Although my total play time is almost 300 days total I think. Gotta double check it.

being about a year into ffxi few things i'v noticed (and i'm no way a vet i'm still considered pretty new :p):

ToAU can pretty much be solo'd upto mission 13.

CoP the first prommy missions you can pretty much just jump in random shout runs but i recomend a static for missions 2-3+.

as for ZM well i havn't even bothered to look at that yet i'm on the same mission as you :s (and have no desire to do.. focusing on CoP atm)

ah and keep up with ninja, costly but a very versatile job for cap missions, subbin blm for 40caps+ turns damage 4fold over katanas

Zilart is pretty easy. Getting up to ZM12 or ZM13 (can't remember which) will get you access to sky, which is where a lot of people actually stop doing missions. Doing all of that can pretty much be done in a single day. It seems the hardest part is getting people to do the ZM4 fight. There are a couple more fights after that, but they aren't as "tedious" to get to. After you get sky access, the next step is Divine Might, which is where you get your Zilart earring, which is basically the reward for finishing Zilart... except that isn't the end of the Zilart missions. Divine Might requires an alliance. There are a few more afterwards, and the final fight which will require a group.

CoP is a completely different beast. It's not necessarily hard (though there are maybe three or fight fights which can be difficult), ESCPECIALLY now since there is no exp loss during the mission fights (which is just rediculous since it takes away most of the pain from losing the fight). CoP is more expensive than it is difficult. You really need to load up on all kinds of meds and drinks to complete many of the fights, and if you lose, you have to rebuy all that stuff at try again. The big reward for finishing CoP is a really nice ring. CoP is VERY long. It's got an amazing storyline, however, which is what they were going for. CoP missions are level capped at 30, 40, 50, 60, and uncapped. It takes a while to reach the uncapped ones.

ToAU seems to be a bit easier compared to CoP, but is a bit more involved than Zilart.

All jobs can be used, but the jobs most commonly considered to be the most useful are rdm, blm, war, pld, nin, sometimes whm and smn.

rdm for obvious reasons, war for damage or off tank (mighty strikes for bcnm is great), pld and nin for tanking... whm for big heals and regens, smn for astral flow and the ability to kite mobs with carby.

It really just depends on the fight, and you can generally use any jobs you want.

You don't need to do Divine Might, as it's technically a side-quest. You can do the original method of killing the bosses from Divine Might with a single party one by one. It's a little bit harder than just doing Divine Might, since the bosses are slightly stronger through this method. But it's easier to organize.

If you do the one by one route, you can complete Divine Might at a later time for the earring selection. As far as mission progression goes, theres no difference between either. You see the same scenes upon winning and gain the same key items.

The only one which is harder to do individually is the elvaan, and that's only because if she one-shots someone with Spirits Within in a group of 6, it's a lot more painful than if she one-shots someone with Spirits Within in a group of 18. Even so you can generally handle her by kiting her and killing her slowly, so she's more tedious than difficult.

Otherwise, the individual fights are way easier than Divine Might, there's just less that can go wrong and less consequences if it *does* go wrong. If you're interested in getting the missions done, go with the individual fights. Even if you *also* want to do Divine Might, doing the individual fights gives you practical experience with what the ark angels are capable of. (It's one thing to read about the taru's Amon Drive and another thing to deal with it.)

As far as level requirements goes, except for fights where you'll be called upon to sleep things, you can probably go straight to rank 10 and the end of Zilart as a 67 RDM. I'd only be leery of that for ZM16, and if you have someone(s) else to sleep the Orbitals there, it wouldn't be a problem then either. (And country rank missions are just plain *easy*.)

CoP, considering all the level-capped stuff, you have between now and when you get to chapter 7, to finish levelling something to 75 (and trust me, it'll take you a bit of time to get to chapter 7). Your current jobs give you a good selection of options for 30-, 40-, 50-, and 60-cap CoP BCs, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that.

ToAU missions are basically pushovers for a party of 75's (they're practically as easy as country missions), so again you could hop into them on your 67 RDM and probably be fine.

I do recommend working on pushing the last mile to 75 on your RDM though. Being a RDM, it really wouldn't take all *that* long, and then you wouldn't have any not-75-yet worries. :P

you should focus on CoP as its has very good rewards ( ring and limbus, sea earrings and gorgets) that are easyto get. Since you got 2 jobs 60+ you can do all cop until chapter 7, and sea access is right after that. having a variaty of 40 and 30 jobs is also a great bonus for misions up to 3-5.

Thanks everyone. :)

Now more or less down to business of getting a crew to get the crap done. O_O

Kotsu, once I finish San d'Oria, I'm going for Bastok/Windurst missions also, so if you're up for that, cool beanos.

I'd like to see it from their respective perspectives. :P

Celame, cool with me. Time has come for my partner and I to part ways with my PLD I think, so send me a tell in-game and let me know when your prime-time playtime is.
