NEWS: Congress to decide on taxing virtual items

And besides, taxes go to fund all of our government projects or in other words, better the country where you live. Why do so many people have a problem paying taxes? I might be able to understand it if you were paying 75% of your income, but you aren't.

Money being used wisely no I would not have any issues with but how many hundreds of billions of dollars a year are being pissed away. For Example, a democrat from NY wants to spend a million dollars to have the statue of liberty examined again to see if the head can be re-opened to tourists, after it has been labeled a fire hazard and a danger no less then three times and by independent groups.

And there's this damn republican in the white house who absolutely has to have a multi-trillion dollar sandbox to play in.. or not since the closest thing he's seen to combat was a fight over salad-bar black olives at the sizzler.

I kid i kid, i just couldn't rate him up again so soon with that line in it. ;)

I couldn't help myself. :)

Politicians are only good for wasting your money, that's how they manage to save all theirs. :P

Doesn't he know the neighborhood cats are just going to poop in it?

Posting from above mentioned sandbox, I can say that there are many, many people here greatful he did decide to play in it.

Never even heard of "Second Life" before someone mentioning it in this post. While it looks quite interesting, having to constantly paying to play a GAME is not my cup of tea. Last 24 hours thay made 2 million... or maybe thats just traded?

This tax is only going to apply to Second life, nothing elce. From the sounds of it, you "create" items, and you can then sell it to someone elce. It would take alot of searching to understand WHY someone would spend money on that type of thing.

P.S. Just be lucky democrats not in whitehouse, what a disaster that would be.

Well, I agree with you money being used wisely wouldn't be a problem, and most of the money isn't used wisely. That's why every 6 years every state has a chance to put 2 new faces in office if the current guy isn't doing his job.

As for your democratic Senator... http://www1.whdh.com/news/articles/national/BO55913/

The Weiner amendment redirects $1 million in funding from the Department of the Interior to the park service, which could use the money for safety improvements at the statue or for other purposes.

Also, 0.000001% of our budget to open the statue of liberty to the public? I think that's acceptable.

Look over this document to see what kind of stupid shit we spend money on.

ya think 429 billion is a bit excessive for defense? Slightly more than half of our 852 billion dollar budget.

It doesnt help when all the options are still bad trippy.

I shoulda make a thread asking about my election rights later. I've got no clue about anything the presidential candidates do, what stats I qualify for voting from, or how to register to vote from a "foreign" nation although I bet the embassy can take care of the voting thing.

Yes, what a disaster! Damn those democrats increasing taxes to try to fill a canyon of debt left by the current administration!

But just to let you know, I'm voting for Ron Paul. Even if he doesn't make it past the primaries.

Sure! And to fund that we would have to stop using electricity!
Not really, lol. Sweden have free health care and free education, as well as free dentist care for anyone under the age of 20. Also get free books for our educations, as well as free public transportation tickets.

And guess what? We even get money for studying, on top of all the freebies we get. Like a special card where you get reduced prices on everything from clothes to food to travels. As a matter of fact, if I wanted to go study in America, the government would pay for my education, the books I need, and the ticket there and back home.

Hell, I know a guy that said he wanted to go to Japan for three years to study Japanese, even though there's several courses in Sweden. They paid for everything. Also, several people who went to study Chinese in China. I'm not sure about the other countries in the EU, but I do believe they have it similar.

America is a whole lot richer then Sweden, I'm sure they could easily have it too without having to lower your living standards.

Theres the problem Uzor. Spending it properly would mean it would lower the living standards of politicians and the businessmen who get contracts for pure bullshit. We cant have rich people being 1% less rich than they were previously in America can we?

I guess.

Should just kill them all, solves a lot of problems.

Politicians are a lot like RMT. Ban one off the face of the earth and 3 more will pop up to replace them.

Do it like Hercules did to the Hydra.

Free health care and education anyone?

Which just means you're paying more in to taxes.

And if you aren't using those services, you don't get your money back. Or if someone is using more than their fair share, you're paying for their overhead.

Nothings free.

The last thing we need is another reason for illegals to jump in without going through legal process.

Reread my post =/

And we're not using that much taxes, we just use our taxes more wisely. Either way, I'll sleep safe knowing that if I'm ever close to dieing, need an important operation, transplanted organs or w/e, I'll get it for free :p I can also sleep good knowing that no matter what my economy is, my children will get the education they need and deserve (when I get kids, that is).

Considering the majority of the population do get kids, I don't think its a very bad deal when the tax payers money go to something the majority of the population benefit from.

If it was something like free cars to rich people and politicians, then yes, I would be pissed.

Yes, it's nice if you're poor, or would otherwise have to pay for insurance. But if you're well off(decent job w/ a good benefits package,) you get the raw end of the deal with a NHS.

If you got a decent job and benefits you should be happy to have that and live ina country where if something bad happens you are well taken care of.
EDIT: also even if you get the "short end of the stick: you are still benefitting from lowered crime rates. Lets be honest here. Poor people rob rich people rich people have money and/or they may actually need the money to survive. Crime will still exist but having a proper education improves the income of the people drastically.

It benefits you even if you have a good job, since your children can go to whichever school they want. You also won't have to pay for an insurance you might not ever use anyway, since you'll get free health care whenever you DO get sick.

You also won't have to worry about having to save for your children's collage fund, nor will you have to worry about not being able to afford (or having to take a hefty loan) if your child needs a dangerous expensive operation.

If you never get sick nor don't have kids, then no, it doesn't benefit you. But if you don't have free health care, you'd still probably pay for an insurance in case you DO get sick.
