Next update on EXP

Well someone people, as stupid as it sounds (includes me XD) wanna be high-level to look cool in certain gear..and such =P
Plus certain spells would be nice. Despite how I act like a total bitch when defending my beliefs, I really enjoy helping people when I can (No, I won't PL you Teppo -_-). I think hanging around Kuftal and administering R3s and stuff would be fun, but that's just me. =P

And a question - Ul/Om'Hpmede agro but don't attack? Isn't that sortof free xp or somethin? o_o;

Liefe, why are you even playing the game anymore? It doesn't sound like you're enjoying much of the content, old or new. What's the point in playing and getting new gear or whatever when you don't like the end-game stuff?

You didn't answer my question. Spending over 100 hours of time just leveling is a significant chunk of time to anyone with any sort of real-world responsibility. If I can take those extra hours and sink them into crafting, farming, rank/Zilart/CoP missions - more power to me. This is looking more and more like folks are bemoaning the gloom and doom of having their high level playgrounds infiltrated by the common rabble.

It's more like people "bemoaning" the task of levelling. If you think it's such an insignificant amount to lower it (10% was used), then why not raise it? Why not keep it the same? By your argument, there is no difference and I agree, it is pointless. Therefore they shouldn't change it and they should add things to kill before adding players to the mix of shit there is to fight (which is not much). Content was a problem before this change was announced, and the problem is going to be worse.

And to the person who asked if I was jealous or whatever about other people getting to 75: Read what I posted. I could really care less about how many and how fast someone can get jobs to 75 as long as there is enough endgame content to spread items around with. Currently there is not. That is the problem.

The point being Cubswoo, would it be any different in reality than if they took level 70-75, threw it away and made level 70 the cap again? It would make top level easier for you people without the time right? This is the same idea. You're throwing away all that exp that seperates top level from the system now and the system in the future. That's all you're doing. Throwing away a few levels. By making the levels closer together you're just masking the fact. It doesn't matter when you level up, it matters how much exp/hour you make, because that gets you closer to 75, do you understand?

I personally don't think there IS a difference. I didn't go to sleep last night praying to Square to make my leveling path any easier. I log in fully expecting to need to get all the XP that you got to get to where you are.

But don't expect me to be upset when Square says I get to do it a little bit easier now.

As for end-game content, I suppose I don't have any knowledge of it firsthand. But it only makes sense to bring more in once the XP change starts bringing more 75s into the servers. Until then? I'm sorry your HNM pops are camped, but I doubt I could do too much about that.

Only to see your smile <3.

First off, I agree with Fire and Mishaela when they said that the current crop of lvl75 players should get a shitload of merit points to make up the difference.

Secondly, what I like is that more high levels = more drama on the Flameboards = My workday goes by faster. Think about it, as more get to a higer level, more will enter HNM shells. This leads to more BoL/NH type debates, which is just pure entertainment. It also means, Thfs can level quicker to a point where they can solo Argus, meaning more competition for Vang. 8)

I think SE may be shooting themselves in the foot in the long run. Those of us still here are here because we have a goal. While this is targetted Im sure to make those using the return to Vanadiel option happier, I think when people start getting to 75, those people are going to quit. Not all, but I bet a good portion.

There just isn't much left at 75 for some, and with the Gilsellers leveling quicker, it could ruin what endgame content there is. I know some say, change jobs and start over, but exactly how appealing is that for most?

The other side of it is it might re-energize gilselling. With the huge increase in TNL, it meant you had longer to save for that piece of EQ coming up. Now you will get to that level faster.....

and by the way, this is a low blow:

Svina, in contrast, the TNL past 55 is one of the reasons I haven't taken the time to level my character. Its just too time consuming for me, when I don't have the time that i need very often to actually sit down and deal with teh heavy xp session that people need past that level. And believe it or not, there are a good amount of people like me who actually know how to play the game and take it very seriously who havent leveled a character up to 75 yet.
While it might give the people who have no social life much less meaning to their high level, it gives everyone who has full time jobs, kids, and whatever else the chance to achieve end game status more easily.

So basically, since you no longer see "Instant Gratification" and no longer feel the desire to level, the ones that do have "no social life". Wow, thats sweeping an awefully wide paintbrush.

This topic is dumb, I'm just gonna stop posting in it now after this post.

If you like the patch, awesome. I think it's rad and can't wait to see smaller tnls since I can't level all that often.

If you don't like the patch, sorry that you don't but I have a feeling the response will be far more positive than negative.

If your sole reason for not liking it is because it hurts your e-wang or offends you that others can lvl up faster than you, go throw yourself out a window because you care far too much about something that's "just a game"

Not to mention, that from what I hear, HNMs and such take alot of...what's the word...smarts. If there's noobs at the HNM camps (god forbid), and somehow got it (god forbid moreso), they'd probably just wind up dead anyhow, so I don't think that'd change much...

As for the Gods and such, well, technically right now those are simply farmable, since there's maybe 2-3 parties competing for the NMs/mobs that drop the Ro'Maeve water and such day-round. Don't think competition would get that much worse with a few 75s, since they'd also needto get Sky (probably not gonna happen) first, then they'd, again, need some kindof actually-effective tactic.

Except that, in the scope of the game and the mobs inside of it, a 75 is fundamentally better able to make use of those mobs than a level 70. Unless your removal of 70-75 is also going to make every endgame mob drop 5 levels, all you do is require more people to do what can already be done. It DOES matter when you level up as it pertains to endgame content, because that level 75 Paladin is going to tank Endgame Mob X better than level 70 Paladin is, not just due to more stats, but ability to wear better endgame gear.

I'm glad to know that when this generation of players hits 75 you'll consider them level 70 + SE handholding, though.

EDIT: And if my math turns out correct and they reduce the XP requirements by 10%, it's more like they're throwing out 10k into 73-> 75. Not 5 levels, more like 1.6 levels at endgame requirements.

I had assumed dropping the end game content 5 levels in my example would be obvious. As well of the gear factor ext... all of that is colored bubbles. The change affects the exp, and by that merit my example is dead on the mark.
You said it yourself, your ultimate goal, before you even knew how to plapy the game, was to reach max level. Like almost all of us I presume. It it takes a set amount of exp, they just lowered it. They might as well have just lowered all the end game monsters, lowered some of the level requires of gear, and turned all the level 70-75s to level 70s. Just because we're still "level 75" doesn't mean a damn thing. What we are is, x amount of exp past start. And now we're gonna be 10% less?

Same thing happened when SE made the mini battles. A lot of higher levels still won't consider the peeps who did mini avatar battles "Real Summoners." No skin off my back though.

I think it's good, SE is losing a lot of players to WOW because it's "Easier" and you don't need to invest as much time into the game to see results. It's a major complaint among players and they're still not making the breaking point any easier so I'm not too worried about idiots hitting 75. Idiots hit 75 right now anyway, only difference is they'll shave a couple of months off the time it takes to get there.

The 50's-60's don't weed out players because of XP, it weeds out players because of the quests/expenses/missions which havn't changed.

You might take this the wrong way Sabia, but it's not meant to offend.

In my opinion the intention of the minifork battles was for people to level their SMN to 37 for subjob purposes. You still need to be higher for Fenrir and he doesn't get anything making him needed til level 43.

I think mini fork battles were made for people like me who really didn't have the time to take another job we never wanted to play to level 70+ (which would take years in my case) but still wanted to play the summoner job. Fenrir is a luxury, a very very very useful luxury but summoners can get by w/o him for a huge chunk of their in game time. However a summoner can NOT get to level 60+ with just carbuncle.

0.1% of the population were summoners before the update and it was like that for a reason.

I know that I probably would of quit by now if I had to take my whm to level 70 just to get my avatars and I'm sure a lot of other people were in the same boat.

SE is realizing that they are losing a huge chunk of their customer base to other MMORPGs because a lot of people just don't have the time to get anything done in this game.

I think you kinda missed the point, Fire. The mini battles don't help you get Fenrir at all (unless you count only having to kill each prime avatar once instead of twice "helping", but that's not the point). They just let SMNs get all the non-Fenrir avatars at 20 without either leveling a second job past 37 or by paying off high-levels to kill the avatars.

Really, it made no sense at all that for every single other job, you could level to 75 and not take any other job past 37, but for SMN you needed a job at 50-60 or higher to get the avatars before you could bring SMN up that high.

So, SE added the mini fights. High levels complained, newbies rejoiced, and some people just didn't give a d***. Eventually most of the high levels shut up when they realized that there was still a challenge to getting the avatars (some of them were too stupid to know when they lost). Same thing will happen here.

Just a few questions then to try to understand your mentality. Please don't take offense...

If SMN was not a job in FF, woudl you have not played?

If the SMN flag required being level 75, would you have not played or quit trying to reach it?

Hence, by adding in any end game content, does the inability to reach it easily (by comparitive standards, not saying even level 30 is easy) make you more upset than if it was never even there?

This is uniquely different Sethala. When they added in the mini-fork battles, I don't think many high levels really minded that much in the end. They take a perk of being high level, the avatars, that many of us strived very hard for admittedely, and presented it to all players. The difference was, however, that just because you got the avatars doesn't mean you're suddenly a level 65+. This change, in order to deliver the end-game easier for the masses, is actually taking a chunk of the exp from 50 to 75 and throwing it away. And if you already earned it, it's gone. This is not a fair comparison at all. Let people find mini-genbu, I don't give a shit. If you didn't have the time to level 75 under the old system, believe me you don't have time to join a god shell anyway. I don't care about the perks. I care about the exp I made that's getting chucked away.

Oh I would of tried the game but like I said, I would of quit by now. I definately wouldn't have played for the 2+ years I've had the game, only thing that keeps me going in this game is the enjoyment of my job and good friends.

Do I think they needed to add mini avatar battles? Yes. Do I think they needed to make the XP less to reach 75...probably not, but I do enjoy the fact that I have a better chance of actually seeing end-game content then I did yesterday.

Me being level 55 after 2+ years of playing isn't due to lack of skill, It's due to lack of time. I've had many compliments from rank 10 Ninjas/theives/red mages/etc that have other jobs at level 75 that I'm a good summoner. A lot of high levels in this game think if you don't have a job at 75 it's because you suck at the game, when that infact is not true. Trying to balance this game with real life, hobbies, friends, jobs is a bitch and a half.

I'm all about getting to Dynamis and seeing the story play out sooner.

I think Firestreak is experiencing the FF equal of "Buyer's remorse."

To compare, let's say it's a few years back and Cable Internet is just now available. I really want my high-speed, so I spend hundreds of dollars on equipment and about $80 a month to cruise along at 2 megs while all my friends are on dial-up.

Now we fast-forward to today. All of those friends are now getting a free modem from their cable provider and the cost of service is now $50 a month. The speed for everyone is now 4 megs. I can whine and moan about how much more I spent on my high-speed and that money I 'chucked away', or I can realize that's the price I paid for wanting to have more than others before they do.

The maximum amount of experience that can be earned from a single battle has been increased to 250 for players from level 51-60, and to 300 for players from level 61-75. In accordance with this change, the maximum amount of experience that can be earned during EXP chains has also been increased.

Would somebody please direct me to the bitch fest that occured last september when this change took place? Caus I don't remember anybody saying a God damn thing about it. where were the lvl 75s freaking out then? Why is it such a big deal now? How is cutting the xp per level req so much worse than increasing xp per mob cap? Its still gonna be a pain in the ass to level, limit breaks are still in place, AF armor isn't any easier, missions, quests, gil needed, none of these are any lower for being a lvl 75. Lowering the xp req isn't gonna make people just jump from 50-75 like its nothing, theres still alot in between that is now gonna have more competition.

Grinding out xp isn't what is stopping anybody from leveling, and its damn sure not what slows down the gil sellers. Does anybody think that gil sellers who are often played 24/7, are in anyway affected by xp requirments? These people can play all day doing anything, xping is probably fun for them, and you could double or triple xp req. and that would not be what would slow them down. So stop trying to say that this is gonna make more high level sellers, cause sellers don't care about a few hours +/-,
