Watching the MNF game, watching Devon Hester burn everyone on that return got me thinkin bout Rookie of the Year and subsequently, MVP.

I think LT's a guaranteed win for the MVP, but Rookie of the Year, whaddaya guys think?

I thought Laurence Maroney had a shot, he's run like an allstar up in NE, but I think Hester, with his 5 returns may be set up to win.

Thoughts?

LT's a lock for the MVP award, but I think Drew Brees should get more credit then he's recieving. The Chargers have enough weapons to be a decent team without LT, but the Saints would absolutely flop without Brees. Think about the QBs they've had the last couple of years. Brees won't win, but I'll be damned if he doesn't get a decent amount of votes.

Reggie Bush, Marques Colston, Devon Hester, Maroney from the Pats and Vince Young should all get votes for RotY (I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting too, RotY is hard in the NFL). I'd wait til the end of the season to predict that one. Right now, I'd give it to Colston or Maroney but if the Titans win their last three games (They've got Jacksonville, New England and Buffalo the finish out the season, so its a longshot.) don't be surprised to see Vince Young steal it out from under them.

Hester is amazing. Not only is he doing an excellent job, but he's fun to watch.

Also, go Bears!

mvp, yeah, id prob have to say LT. just because his stats are beastly. brees is having a hell of a year though as stated.

as far as rookie of the year,
vince young > reggie bush.

reggie is good, but he came on really late. and the saints are effective *without* him. hes fumble mania. however, the titans would be completely lost w/o young. :)

Correct me if im wrong, but dont they pick a AFC and NFC Rookie of the year? Do they do that with the MVP too? Or am i confusing baseball and football again?

If its only one, LT has to be MVP for sure, hes breaking every record in the book and leading his team to possible homefield thru the playoffs. As for rookies, Id have to go with Vince Young if he keeps doin what hes doin in Tenessee...

Hester's been great and all, but the best hes gonna get is a Pro-bowl because kick returners get no love, and its alot of luck involved in those kind of things...(See: Dante Hall, 2004, Kansas City Chiefs)

Except Dante Hall did it over 6 games. Hester has been relatively consistant(if you can consider such a thing) all year. He has broken the record for most kickoffs returned for touchdowns and tied the longest ever AND he's been doing it at key points during the game. Name another team that has such a realistic potential of scoring a touchdown off of every point, aside from a safety, you score?
