Wanted to put a thread up for discussion for the 2008 NFL MVP. Feel free to decide who would be NFC/AFC MVP's. There are Offense and Defensive MVPs for each conference, and one of them is the overall NFL MVP.

Sorry if i leave some players out, going to put mostly Offensive Players, however feel free to post replies if you disagree with my personal nominees, and who you think should be the respective MVPs.

Kurt Warner.

Cards, division champs? Warner = Marino? What just happened here?!

MVP - Kurt Warner
AFC MVP - James Harrison

NFL Offensive MVP - Kurt Warner (NFC) with Adrian Peterson (NFC) close behind.
NFL Defensive MVP - DeMarcus Ware (NFC)
AFC Defensive MVP - James Harrison slightly over Joey Porter because of how good the Steelers defense is as a unit.
AFC Offensive MVP - Andre Johnson - I don't think anyone else comes close to Johnson except for maybe Chad Pennington, but his stats just dont jump out at you.

Honorable Mention (Again remember these are my opinions, dont wanna take anything away from some great players out there):

Reasons i didnt give some guys a spot:

Favre, He couldntve done it without Jones, and alot of luck. Hes cost them a few times as well.

Eli manning - Stats dont jump out enough and his whole team is solid, and he hasnt played great lately

Romo - Too many fumbles, missed a few games

Collins/Chris Johnsons - Struggled lately, Collins stats are not good enough.

Phillip Rivers - Chargers Failed This year with all that talent

Matt Cassel - Fuck the Pats (Biased)

Warner is not the MVP. I don't care what his stats are. He had an incredibly weak divison to thrive on and trust me, he didnt make Fitzgerald or Boldin, on the contrary they make QB's look good. Look at the Cardinals last 3 weeks....nothing good. He turns the ball over way to much. One and done in the playoffs.

Peyton Manning is cleary the MVP. They went what 1-3? He had no running game early and still doesnt have anything special. There defense isnt very good at all. He was unable to gain chemistry with his team this year in the off-season. Without Manning, that team is terrible. They've won 7 in a row which is the hottest team in football. They will go 12-4 and unfortunately will have to go on the road, when someone like Denver will get a home game.

Fitz/Boldin where there when Leinart was the starter, and Mccown too (Not sure if Fitz was)

Anyway, Leinart instead of Warner and this team does not get this far. While i agree Colts are crap w.o Manning, I believe so are the cardinals.

Personally, i think Warner will get more votes then Manning.

Edit: Also, lets not forget this, Manning is a great player, one of the best in History. However we have not seen his teams WITHOUT him, so technically it is impossible to judge how they would fair without him. In comparison to Warner, we HAVE seen the cardinals without him, and they are not very good.

Harrison for me.

Honourable mention for Cassel. I thought we were completely screwed once Brady went down but Cassel seems to of been playing far better than I thought he could.

Demarcus Ware probably shouldve been added to my List, but with all the cowboys turmoil and there ups and downs, i wasnt sure of who to remove really.

Exactly, and they are putting up same stats with Mccown was there. Point is. If Seattle was the same Seattle of a few years ago, all those stats don't matter. Cardinals are still a 7-9 team missing the playoffs. Nothing has changed on that offense except terrible defenses on the other side. High yards, high turn over margin...same story, different division.

I dont think that made much sense, but okay.

All I was saying, the Cardinals are the exact same team they've been for the last few years, the only difference is, the division is much weaker.

And yes, Ware needs to be up there. Isn't he only 4 sacks away from tying the record?

I like Harrison alot, but Woodley also has 11 sacks on that team. Theyve got a couple of weapons that can rush the passer, and not all of them can be accounted for, so when one is double teamed, the other one shines.

Not to mention Dick Lebeau i think is their coordinator and hes a fucking genius.

When taking this into account, and IF taken into account, i think Porter would get the nod over Harrison as AFC Def MVP

Also dont have Ware up there because i didnt know who to take out =/. Technically, if he was up there he'd still have 0 Votes anyway.

QFT

Manning has my vote. Warner is overhyped. Don't get me wrong, I like Warner and all, but his whole MVP candidacy is kind of a bandwagon type thing where one network says something and the rest mount up. Manning has flown under the radar a bit with missing the preseason and starting the season still recovering frmo injury. He's recovered nicely and led his team to 7 straight wins now. Honestly, I think the Colts join the Steelers as the teams to beat in the AFC, no disrepect intended for the Titans.

Oh and Bolden and Fitzgerald are both starting in the Pro-bowl. Thats what Warner has, the two best recievers in the NFC and arguably the NFL. Like I said, Boldin made McCown a pretty good fantasy QB.

Last 3 games respectively: 4 tackles, 3 tackles, 1 tack.

No Sacks, No FF, and will miss the next 2 games.

Still the best DT this year, but stats are what people look at it. I'd go as far to say he's been the best by a mile.

He'll cash in this year and become the highest paid DT.

MVP should be Tom Brady for the reverse reasons. He gets hurt and doesn't play and the Pats go from the dominant team in the league to probably not making the playoffs. :(

In reality, my vote goes for Peyton.
