Lets put the colts in the nfc west and see what kind of numbers Manning comes up with. After watching warner play the pats this last weekend, how any of you can consider him a mvp candidate anymore is beyond me. Have a soft spot for warner, but how can you consider him lately after they've been losing left and right?
I didnt vote for Warner either, personally i voted for Pennington. Im not taking anything away from Manning, if he wins it he is completely deserving. I just like to root for the underdog, Manning already has 2 (1 sole, 1 co with Mcnair i believe?) and i would just like to see someone who was unexpected win it.
Theres a couple guys that if they won it, i would totally agree and say yes, this is the NFL MVP. Peterson (If they win the division), Manning, Pennington, Rivers (He gives them a shot to win every game, and holy shit how bad would this team be without him) and even Steve Smith.
However if other guys win it like (Although Unlikely), Big Ben, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, i think it would be a total slap in the face to the league.
Warner blew it the past couple weeks, but he was easily the NFC Favorite heading into the week this thread was made.
On a side note, i was watching NFL Live and Merill Hodge (sp) was saying that he BELIEVES that the MVP of the NFL is supposed to be the Most Valuable for the league, not just to his team. This is an interesting argument, ive always considered MVP to be either the flat out best player in the league, or the one who means most to his team. However the title is NFL MVP, so he may have a point.
He then presented the argument saying Matt Ryan (Resurrecting the ATL Falcons) could be the MVP for the NFL, and he may very well be right. He made an ugly messy situation easier to cope with by doing what hes done, granted he's had Michael Turner but come on, who is the leader on the team?
