/NIN at low levels.

the game has been out to long. with so much documentation and guides and strats out there, new players come in thinking they know what has to be done at certain lvl and for certain jobs. They see the result of the work us old-schoolers put together and thinking outside the box is taboo. I agree that they also read about what high lvl players use and think we used that type of job combo the whole time we have played.

Anti-/nin-brothers-gooooo!

I agree completely with Rappa. I look for every chance I possibly can to avoid going /nin. There's lots of situations where it's helpful yes, but in most lower lvling scenarios say....under 60....other subjobs are perfectly viable, and some are just plain better.

I almost never go /nin on my dnc anymore, I hate it with a passion. It's almost always /sam for me, and sometimes if I feel like it I'll go /whm. I have my reasons and if anyone bitches well screw them. Hell, I've even done dnc/whm in an xp pt before I hit 75, on mobs with MP like crabs or colibri it's actually a pretty damn good choice, with aspir samba up.

Ya, /nin isn't needed, and I'm a firm believer of that.

Anti /nin powers activate!!

WAR, in my humble opinion, should be leveled as such:
WAR/MNK 1-30, using gaxe and axe alternately to keep them skilled, gaxe otherwise for sturmwind.
WAR/THF, WAR/DRG, and WAR/MNK are all viable 30-55. (/DRG even great at 20)
WAR/NIN 55+ for dual wield axes and overall mitigation.
WAR/SAM 70+ for Hasso, and super sexy great axe damage, obviously WAR/NIN and WAR/THF are popular choices for various setups. WAR/DRG still a viable but rare option.

I have to admit I've been tired of the /NIN 1337ness groups lately. Yes, I evade 3 attacks, yet that will make the healer's job easier...for 3 attacks >_>" after those 3 are up what am I to do then...? So I curl in the fetal position because the same WHM is healing his MP cause the same mob AoE's and destroys shadows? lol I think not. I just recently leveled WAR to 37 (might go further since it was pretty amusing) and after level 16 WAR I only subbed /BLU. Personally I don't see why everyone overlooks this so much. /blu gives you cocoon at level 16! That's like getting defender early without the attack loss. Add that with level 25 when you get the real Defender and BOOM 100% increase to def. (yes they stack peeps!) Now comparing some tanks 3 hit glory to my +100%def and I have to....bubye /NIN. I enjoy being hit for 5 dmg by mandragora's and being crit'd on by weapons for 60-70. Not to mention with /BLU you get nifty stuff like Head Butt(stun), Sprout Smack(slow), Metallic Body(ok not as useful but still something to try), Healing Breeze(Curaga). With all those why is this so overlooked (besides low MP which can be easily fixed)? I also enjoyed having the Auto Regen trait you can access on /BLU as well as the Beast Killer Trait! Those wanna-be /nin can party somewhere else in all honesty, I'll gladly take my Regen, Stun, 100%def, curaga, Beast Killer, and such elsewhere since they will be appreciated. ^^ I know /NIN is good after 74 and I know shadows are sexy but dont live your lives by it people!

Good point, and a little correction, it's not like getting defender early with no attack loss, it's BETTER then defender. +50% def is huge at any lvl. How is head butt proc rate as /blu? And the only downside of this combo would be the mp constraints (yags fix this). I have yet to see anyone effectively solo tank with Uts: Ichi, and even dual tanking is tricky if either is too slow. Main reasons for Uts in meripos is hate shifting, access to Ni, and how fast the mobs tend to die, all of which rarely happens at such low lvls.

I'd say WAR/DRG for 20-30 at least; jump is nicer than boost.

the /mnk is for counter and 25~30 is traditionally mandy so you have a monster that hits very weak very often with the ability to counter each attack with something alot more painful to the monster

i like /rng for 20-30 acc bonus is level 10 for rng and +10 acc (melee and ranged) is pretty big for those levels.

Ah, for tanking, definitely /mnk. For damage dealing, /drg or /rng.
