NIN tanking in K Osode

Ninjas eat meat?

The only job that should even bother with a byrnie/+1 is a Drk going for a better HP build for SE, or maybe a 2H job that can still hit 90% acc and eat meat with that loss of like 14 or so acc.

I had the byrnie+1 for HP build on paladin, so for ninja i just kinda made it work while i was leveling post 60. I ate meat sometimes, but I usually just stuck with sushi. It did really well to start off, but as I got closer to 70, acc became more of a problem.

I use my osode for ranger. I even TP in it. I know alot of people say I should be using AF body for TPing, but its really not necessary. Rangers get so many choices with ACC, its easy to get 70 or more ACC in gear alone. Id rather just keep all my AF in storage and not worry about swapping gear except for crimson cuisses to dusk trousers+1.

Well as a ninja for years with macros out the asshole. Kirins Osode is more handy then people are leading it to be. Yes it is a show piece. Osode should never be used on WS unless your using Blade Ku. Even then it's futile.

Ninja/dark I have always loved my KO spells stick more and I seem to generate more enm, without losing as fast then my Gi+1. Given this is with a bard and a rdm refreshing me.
Someone also pretained to Salvage and certain Sea Nms. Where 50 Light resist does shine, I've proven it, watched it work. Also very good for stacking agl builds for capping Parrying. Now I know the OP was : Should a ninja tank in a Osode: its all about what you are doing, mob choice, and whats in your party, not to mention which support job your using. Other jobs get way more benifiets from a KO, bst, bard, rng, but then again how many body pieces give you 10 in each stack and has def out the ass.

Plus it looks pimp. =o

I rather always think... gimp whenever i see anyone in a osode really... Or close to. Never pimp.

I would suppose tanking Nin/Drk for some pop-type NMs might make the Osode the best choice for about 2 seconds. Particulary if you have a very low mp base (although this is an entirely separate issue), you would have a 'free' Stun (or whatever spell combination you use to open with), after which swap out the Osode and leave it that way. Hardly a good reason to carry it around, but whatever makes you happy.

Ninjas eat meat?

with enough support sure, double brd parties are nice for a reason

@MTG on thf, ~55-60 +acc (not including full merits) is enough to make the whole zone minus lurkers con low eva, and what, a single blade madrigal is 30ish acc, not including possible merits?

I was near certain that Jamal posted a parse at one point where Cami ate meat for awhile, and then ate sushi and improve by a great deal of damage, and since Nin doesn't have any Acc gaining JA (i.e. Focus) it would just make it more true that sushi would super outparse meat.

That was a fairly old parse though...

Yeah, it really does depend though, Nin can use meat. A lot of factors influence weather or not to use meat or sushi - Camp choice, mob choice, build, support. Pretty much everything can influence weather meat or sushi will be best for that specific situation. I myself am a sushi whore, but i just have 3 Katana merits, so the added accuracy helps a lot =)

You can con low evasion and still have crappy accuracy. Low evasion only gets you about 75-80% accuracy (just a guess) whereas eatting sushi would push you up much closer to 90-95% range. 7/8 merits on Katana, full accuracy excluding little bomblet and I am still not accurate enough to do Mamool without sushi for my own preference.

Re: Osode.
Worthless. Any use gained by Osode can be surpassed by an AH piece very readily obtainable. The only exception I could think of is evasion and perhaps enfeebles (INT), neither of which will produce any amazing benefits.

I do differ on the opinion of the SH. SH lasted me up until late 60's range because it was +32 evasion(SH+1 vs hauby) and +5 AGI which allowed me to evade. At low levels, mostly pre-Ni, I stacked on vast amounts of eva/AGI and I was able to evade enough to keep up shadows as long as I could land blind and slow, possibly even paralyze. Later levels when the effects of evasion began to dimish, I relied more on DD pieces like Royal Knights breechs (level 55 leg peices) and other DD oriented items. However, the huge loss from Huaby to SH was very noticeable in my opinion, enough so that evading was near impossible. I didn't stack on evasion just 1-2 pieces, enough to keep shadows up long enough to recast. If I was lucky enough to get a BRD and mage that knew what Haste was, I would use a hauby, but that was rarely the case.

With proper support you can eat attack food on Mamools. Obviously you'll need better than average gear, the proper merits and a BRD singing Madrigal but it can be done. Not sure what the bonus is on Hunter's roll w/o a RNG but it might be doable with COR as well.

Necrosis said BEFORE merits and BRD songs they con low evasion.

Checked an old thread and Madrigal is +31 accuracy with instrument and lowest Skill lvl. If it was merited, which I was told doesn't happen often due to other merits being more beneficial, that would be an extra 5 accuracy on top of that.

No, my THF has capped dagger merits, I just didn't include that in my acc number. Also, I should have been a little more specific, but I've parsed low 80's @ MTG without madrigal (feint for lurkers, slightly more accurate build for NINs), which is pretty good considering puk flash tends to screw your numbers. Always use HH pie as meat for the 5acc, too (not included in the number as well).

I capped min/madrigal on my BRD; I know most tend to do lullaby but that's kind of a niche thing for meripos only imo, and I don't have problems with lull recasts usually anyway.

And like I said, even with low evasion (I con low evasion on all except THF and NIN as well), I still miss far too much on them to go without sushi. If I cannot hit reliably, I am going to lose chain which will have a huge impact on my exp/hr. Now, he is a THF and he can use feint on Lurkers, but very rarely does anyone invite a THF to merit.

And like it was said before with proper gear, merits and support you don't need sushi to hit reliably.

whats your definition of reliably? i highly doubt that with meat you will ever hit over 80% eating Meat on mamools.

since i cant use photobucket here at work here are a few numbers for yah.

-Both Nin's, North Camp, I was using sushi and xxxx was eating meat. We had a brd that sang madrigal x2 and the other nin is definately a HQ nin. biggest differences was that xxxx uses senj/unji with speed belt, hope torque, and hauby +1 and i have u/u with nq hauby, pcc, and swift.

xxxx M ht/ms - 2473/814 | Melee hit - 75.24% | Total Dmg - 26.5%
Eiteen M ht/ms - 3343/393 | Melee hit - 89.48% | Total Dmg - 28.04%

Quite a long time ago at mamool north, before I made various tweaks to my gear. No madrigals, saved feint for lurkers obviously.

top is NIN, third is an unmerited war, fourth is an unmerited sam, fifth is brd, sixth is whm.

A single madrigal would've pushed my acc up considerably, I'd guess somewhere in the 83-4%ish range?

@eiteen, I don't see how that NIN parsed so low with dual madrigals, he must be a moron with his other slots or something.

idk what your definition of reliable is, but 80% at mamools is pretty good given the obvious benefits of meat.

You get +55 accuracy from dual madrigal fully merited.

Did these numbers off the top of my head so I may be off a few accuracy points. I'm assuming your NIN is sitting at about 366 total accuracy. This is full Katana merits, DEX from U/U, Haidate and NQ Hauby, and accuracy from assuming this is what you have - dual NQ sniper's, fire bomblet, NQ Hauby, PCC, Swift belt. Also taking into account the 70 DEX from stats. With 366 accuracy along with the +5 DEX you get +55 accuracy from NQ sushi...

Too much is left out that could make a difference in the HQ NINs performance. His own merits? Fire bomblet? Rajas/Snipers? Snipersx2? STR ringsx2 (Yes some melee actually do this >.>)? PCC outperforms Hope if eating attack food. Perdu blade could boost his accuracy by 5. Hedgehog pie can add 5 accuray. And you were eating sushi and with Madrigalx2 only achieved 89% acc?

I should have also added that the other nin was first provoke so damage was probably gimped a bit from casting uts more than the rest of the pt. i was focusing mostly on the accuracy between using sushi and meat. there are a lot of things that could have caused the low acc like flash from the puks and blind from the nin mamools etc etc.

ive tried meat on several occassions fighting mamools and i have never had good results. acc always hovered around 70-75% range which in my opinion is not good. I dont know about other nins, but whiffing more than 2 swings on the way to 100tp is very irritating.

i was talking about his acc, fyi
