NIN tanking in K Osode

If you're going to argue that tanking in an Osode makes sense then one would think that you would mention the DEF on it. lol
Granted it has the best DEF(52) of Hauby(45), SH(40) or Arhat's Gi(38 ), but I still would never wear it in a serious tanking situation. I usually use mine when I'm goofing around and not doing anything that requires me to pay a lot of attention.

Maybe, maybe I can see the use if you're /drk and need the MP. I personally don't have drk lvl'd to use but I think if you're focusing on MP as /drk then something is wrong.

Hey, he got a full set of Morrigans. He's cool by default no matter the shit he says, right?

Apparently you can be cool and retarded at the same time.

I didn't have a second brd or a corsair to make it the exact test i wanted so i'll do it again tomorrow.

PT setup

Blazeoffury - 75nin/war - 47.40%
Raye - 75war/nin - 36.80%
Gnarkill - 75rng/nin - 14.77%
Dalron - 75rdm/whm - .07%
Taari - 73smn/whm - .00%
Anderoc 75brd/??? (Don't remember if it was whm or nin) - .00%

Gear setup(TP):
Head - Walahra Turban
Neck - Peacock Charm (+10 Acc)
Ear1 - Suppanomimi
Ear2 - Brutal Earring
Body - Haubergeon +1 (+12 Acc, +6dex= +3Acc =+15 Acc)
Hands - Dusk Gloves +1(day)/Koga Tekko (night)
wing1 - Raja's Ring (+5 Dex = +2 Acc)
Ring2 - Sniper's Ring +1 (+7 Acc)
Back - Cerberus Mantle
waist - Swift Belt (+3 Acc)
Legs - Byakko's Haidate (+15 Dex = +7 Acc)
Feet - Fuma Sune-Ate
Main: Senjuinrikio
Sub: Unji (+4 Dex = +2 Acc)
Ranged: Fire Bomblet (+6 Acc)

Total + Acc = 52 (Hedgehog Pie = +5 Acc) = +57 Acc [Also add on the extra dex from Byakko's Haidate and Rajas ring for another acc bringing the total to 58]

Gear Setup{(WS)only listing changed items)
Head: Shura Kabuto (+5 Acc)
Neck: Breeze Gorget
Ear1: Triumph Earring
Hands: Bandomusha Kote(day)/Koga Tekko(night)
Waist: Warwolf Belt (+5 Dex = +2 Acc)
Feet: Rutter Sabotons

Total Acc = 46 (Hedgehog Pie = +5) = +51 [Since there is only 1 extra dex floating around from the Warwolf belt, the total +Acc will remain at 46]

Notice: I don't recall how much accuracy is added during weaponskill by the Breeze Gorget.

Merits:
STR: +5
Katana: +8

Accuracy+ - Gear(+38) Stats(30dex = +15) Food (Hedgehog pie = +5) Total Acc+ = +58

Bottom picture is to show where i got the total damage % from.

From this parse (notice: this one just one test, using a small sample of 76 mobs and it is not to be used or referenced as a complete study) I would honestly reason that a ninja geared the same as mine could pull off a meat build in Mamool Ja Staging grounds in the southern camps even without a 2nd brd or a cor. But a 2ndbrd/cor will make their acc that of a sushi nin or really close to it, and make it a viable food option for Northern camps / Nyzul Isle mamools.

Your accuracy from those 74 fights seems a bit low BoF :/

Btw, your pic doesn't have white borders Necro.

You should really drop the rajas for a second sniper's / +1 and get a perdu blade, both would be pretty noticeable in terms of acc boost.

also: lolrng

Arhats Gi +1 or a DD body piece would be better depending on what you're fighting when you go /DRK. There's nothing wrong with a little extra MP but once you cast that first spell you'll rarely ever reach full MP again. Refresh or a Ballad is more than enough to keep you going both put together will pretty much keep you going indefinitely.

Of course it's going to below, I stated in my post that I was without a 2nd bard for madrigal or a cor for hunters roll. I was fighting Nyzul Mamools which includes Lurkers and Infilitrators, we also didn't have a thf for Feint. Any of the above in the party would greatyl increase my accuracy %.

I'm trying to work on perdu blade, I can't find a static that will stick together.. so i'm stuck on superior private at the moment

As for getting another sniper, yes i could help me, although at the moment my ring slots give me +9acc just 1 less than duo nq sniper's. I'm going to try another test later today in a southern mamool ja staging point camp.

For me, 72.4% accuracy is low. I know you said a second bard or COR would have helped out, or even a THF, but for me, I've rarely had a second BRD in party let alone a THF. I also melee in AF body most of the time and switch to Hauby+1 and optical hat for lurkers. My gear is not optimal at the moment, still working on rank ups for perdu, need bomblet and a few other things mostly not accuracy related though (rutters, kabuto, etc). Once I get those, I'll start working towards HQ items to finish off my gear. I have not had the time to merit lately and I just got the last merit I needed for 8/8 Katana so I will try my setup sometime soon I hope.

Yes, someone wanted me to mention using a COR and RNG with hunter's roll. And also having the Brd use madrigal and not minuet/march. And, Decidence parses on Nin with 86% accuracy with sole and within damage percentage of Neo's monk and Mattimer's War. Not calling names though.

Well ideally you would have a second brd for the madrigal aspect, why exp if you don't have the best support for it?

Well yes, a second bard changes things.

EDIT:
taken from decidence's ffxi parse site:
Decidence – NIN/WAR [Sole Sushi] [138 fights]
Average Damage: 1056.09, 25.41%
Average Accuracy: 86.85

Neophytal – MNK/WAR [Sole Sushi] [134 fights]
Average Damage: 1223.25, 27.23%
Average Accuracy: 86.59

Jamal – WAR/NIN [Sole Sushi] [136 fights]
Average Damage: 1145.1, 25.97%
Average Accuracy: 87.41

Mattimer – WAR/NIN [Sole Sushi] [135 fights]
Average Damage: 1121.56, 24.72%
Average Accuracy: 90.62

Party Information: Not shown is WHM (Rappa) and BRD (Crosis).

Additional information (edited): Jamal borrowed a speed belt so no accuracy up or attack loss from waist slot. Deci had 3 STR merits in this one. Although it could be unfair to compare most parties to this one. Or Nins to Deci, for that matter.

meat vs sushi nin merit party go!

*ninja edit.

as far as max exp per hour goes i thought it was determined that swapping out another DD for a brd/cor was useless. i know we are going for max epeen damage rating for a single party member, but the point of being a super DD is to help your party to get as much exp as possible and not to gimp the other members for one person to shine. for example, a gaxe war definately does not need 2 madrigals from a bard. its been a while, but im pretty sure meat + gaxe war + mamools = 85-90% acc.

btw, im arguing that you shouldnt replace a dd with a 2nd brd/cor.

NIN is one of the easier jobs to gear up actually so although Deci was rather pimp, by today's standards, many of those pieces are very common compared to what they once were. I don't know his exact setup, but he had maybe 2 pieces which might have be rare to see. If he was to merit today, I don't think he would be far ahead in damage if any at all compared to some of the NINs who primarily focus on that one job.

A 2nd bard will allow you to do double march and either madrigal/minuet, minuet x2, or madrigal x2. That effect of both added songs will add up to about the same damage to a 4th melee plus you lose out on the TP fed to a mob as well. I'd honestly prefer BRDx2 over 4 melee for any job. Ni recast is so low, I practically never have to cast Ichi, mob WS are used less frequently and it translates to less work for the mage which will always likely be the cause of down time if any (besides WC breaks and deaths). It's also great for sleeps and pulling. There is always a guaranteed 2 songs on with 2 BRDs versus the occasional loss of both songs while a BRD pulls which is especially important for the mage.

There is also such a thing as killing too fast. I know it sounds dumb, but I've partied in the thickets via Nyzul isle at the top camp on Mamool and run out of mobs which means a gap in killing time and loss of chain. Because of the gap, we actually lossed exp versus when we slowed down the pace a bit to keep the constant chain going.
