NIN tanking in K Osode

With hasso and a Great axe (with 8/8 ) Anderoc should have capped accuracy, using meat. And If he really lacks acc gear in his setup, aggressor will fix it. War's need to stop subbing nin.

Blaze I'd love to come on my War/sam to outparse you. lemme know when you wanna do it.

Bring me too, so I can outparse the both of you =P

war's will stop subbing nin when they can trust the rest of the pt to not let them die the second they leave siegan or third eye down. in short the better the pt the more likely /sam will be safe but in a pickup do you really wanna take the chance with your life with a bunch of complete strangers and endup walking back to town to sub nin for survivabilty anyway? keep in mind that walking back screws you out of at least 1-3k exp while the pt is killing without you on top of the exp loss from deaths.

Yeah, I generally do sub nin for pick up pt's. But Anderoc was in a pt with a pretty pimp nin and a mandau thf, along with two brds, making kills extremely fast. If I were him, I would of been /sam.

That's an excellent idea so long as it doesn't result in enough additional MP expenditure that it necessitates either scrapping Haste, scrapping Dia 2/3, letting anyone die of course, or pausing for MP. (Same points go for all damage subs. Doing more damage is counterproductive if it slows things down in other ways. It's the general principle behind cannon reliance on utsusemi, even for H2H and 2-handers that don't benefit from dual wield.)

Don't get me wrong, I can see WAR/SAM working quite well as you describe, in the right setups and situations. But it *is* rather dependent on both the jobs and the player skill of the party.

Kills really weren't "extremely fast," fyi. And ande was using double axes most of the time, I'm sure he didn't want to mp sink with /sam, too.

Ande's 2x axes WAR is pretty good, he has temperance, hauby+1, etc. He's lacking haste feet (uses AF), juggernaut, and the more exorbitant HQ items like dusk+1 hands and speed.

Blaze's NIN got in a significant amount of hits more than Sire, appears to be ~20-25% more from eyeballing, and that's due to sire not using haste legs/feet iirc (and offhanding a behemoth knife +1). Maybe triple merits aren't even capped? That's a pretty huge margin, lol For comparison, both me and the NIN in my parse had a similar number of hits. Offhanding a blau or even a sirocco would be a notable improvement imo, his DoT was lacking. Obviously his WS damage was not the problem, mercy stroke is pretty sick and he has all hecatomb I think.

Obviously Blaze can make some improvements too, like perdu, second sniper's +1, dusk ledelsens +1/usukane, etc. Overall it was fun, and the only numbers that disappointed me were those of the mandau THF.

Your nonMandau THF and mine would parse him, lmao.

No, I hate haste setups on thf (even though I have just about everything to do it). I do good dmg with my daggers using an attack setup, rather than just hitting alot for 10-20 a hit and spamming the mob with tp for no reason. Yes, my offhand dagger isn't the best b/c I mainly use thf knife for hnms and stuff and honestly I have other stuff I'd rather buy than a marginally better offhand dagger just for merits, but if you wanna parse with me then just let me know.

lol, right.

Seriously, what the fuck kind of reasoning is this? You have a MANDAU, a DD relic. If you're just going to TH whore most of the time, why the hell would you get one? Also, iirc, there was a statement from SE recently that basically described TH analogous to a debuff; hit a mob with TH knife/hands and then you could switch out and still have the full effect. Either way, you shouldn't be fulltiming a TH knife.

...and honestly I have other stuff I'd rather buy than a marginally better offhand dagger just for merits, but if you wanna parse with me then just let me know.
Blau? X's knife? Sirocco? All of those are a SIGNIFICANT improvement over a behe knife +1, marginal my ass. You do realize blau has acc5 and att6 over BK+1, right? As well as damage boost?

This kind of bullshit infuriates me. You should've given the coins to someone who'd actually make the most of it. Christ.

Olrox, these parses aren't about who's doing the most damage, we're focusing on accuracy here, I just happened to come out on top both times.

yeah you do have some damn good acc on what you're fighting though. That's the main reason I don't exp on my nin especially on G colibri because I just won't be able to do what my war can (in terms of accuracy alone). And at G colibri camp I usually sub nin and use G axe since I always end up tanking, so I would lose out on some DoT and WS dmg. NIN is by far one of the better jobs for DoT on exp mobs (or at least it has the potential to be)

Well idk how far this still strays.. but I think Blaze has shown everyone (oh man i just tried to "tab" everyone) that you don't do much in Osode on nin XD

Guys, this is about ninjas, lets leave it at ninjas, take the other junk to PMs.

care to test out your meat acc with a competent drg?
I theorize that some of my old meat parse tests for thf were skewed by the mezraq eva down activating.

Sure why not?

Actually, although I do admit I was originally concerned about accuracy, that is not the only thing and really the main thing I am concerned about when eatting meat. When I say I am not satisfied with my accuracy, it's because I know increasing my accuracy will also increase my damage for obvious reasons. I know you're looking at accuracy primarily now, but that should not be the only thing. Comparing accuracy alone is worthless. If you're hitting for 1% accuracy but for 100 damage versus hitting for 100% accuracy with 1 damage, it all adds up to the same, but you need to see both to make an educated comparison. What you really need to look at is the total damage versus other players versus other parses or the exp/merit points per hour.

In order to make that comparison; however, you need a control. You need either a similarly geared/meritted player or two to make seperate parses. Actually, upon thinking about it though, there are certain flaws in how to go about either approach. With the former, the songs given can and probably would heavily influence who the winner is. In the latter, the same issue arises; however, it's not just the control job, but the other DDs. In order to fix that, the BRD would need to give all melee seperate songs which for normal TP burns that are rather quick and move about rapidly, could hinder the merit process. I am wondering, if anyone had a solution that would easily remedy that problem?

I was thinking:

a merit party 3 ninjas 2 brds, whm or rdm.

all 3 ninjas should wear similar to equal gear for TP and they should all WS in the same gear, so no gear swaps. everyone gets haste, and the same songs at all times.

1 ninja = "control" eats no food and is the first provoke for all the mobs.

1 ninja = "meat" obviously eats the meat dish of choice.

1 ninja = "sushi" obviously eats the sushis dish of choice.

this way, we can see who comes on top and compare damage and accuracy on the 3 different setups. in the end we can say something like eating sushi gives you 5% more acc but 5% less damage than eating meat, but is 2% better than eating no food or something like that. we can repeat the tests with different songs etc.

any thoughts? suggestions?

The problem with that setup is that if you have a bard playing madrigal, then the ninja using sushi is obviously going to miss out on most of the effect of the song. The same would be true for not singing madrigal, the meat ninja would be hindered.

Closest thing you can get to a 'control' is to decide songs before hand (the usual songs) and change only food, so gear/equip swaps/merits stay as close as possible, and have a 3rd primary voke. That's how I'd do it. Would probably need to repeat the test multiple times but that's the basic idea.
