Ninjas!

Remember to ALWAYS blow yourself up. It really is one of the most imperative points of being Ninja.

Plus you can show up to a party in the dunes all invisible and be like, surprise here i am.

I did that  .

Also used my elemental Ninjitsu in the dunes ASAP! Mainly to raise skill but, well, i liked the flashy lights

And for the record, 1 Katana, 1 Sword baby...yeah...

:? thought the guide said pre NI ... maybe I got gyped, but my Ichi only casts 3 shadows...correct me if I am mistaken.

You're correct. The point is that you already have 3 before you provoke, and cast Utsu Ichi as your shadows run out, giving a fresh set of 3, for 6 total.

*glances at postcount*

Oh, and welcome to QCDN.

The only way that would work is if Ichi stacked and I thought it didnt. Oh well, U learn somethin new everyday

Necro . . .

There's a time limit on responding to posts....?
Didnt realize that was universal forum ettiquette. My bad

I think they're missing the point... You cast Ichi so it's up, you voke, it attacks, you lose your shadows and recast (In other words, not stacked), those get eaten, war vokes, recast again, voke, and doom.

Of course this whole thing is one big joke, so what's it really matter?

aw come on.... new to the site and some of the topics are still relevent to such people, they may have legittimate pertaining questions and if someone posts pretty much the same thing again a few people will show up and say 'someone already made this topic' link it to the old one and they might not get their questions answered. =/

Gonna do my best to explain how you can "stack" two Utsu:Ichi...

You cast Utsusemi: Ichi. You now have 3 shadows protecting you. Make sure you do this right after your previous fight ended, so the recast timer is up soon. When the puller gets back with a mob, Provoke it. Then watch the chat log for when your shadows are destroyed. When you have only 1 shadow left, recast Utsusemi. It's easy to know when you lose a shadow, because the "shadows absorb damage" message is one of only two chat messages that begins with a number (the other chat message is after any sort of HP/MP/TP drain ability). The cast time is slightly longer than the mob's attack speed, so you'll get attacked 1 more time while recasting, killing your last shadow. However, you'll finish casting right before the mob can attack you again, giving you 3 more right away without you taking any damage. The only reason you can't do this as easily mid-fight is because of the recast time - you need to wait 30 seconds to recast. It's easy to do this at the start of a fight because you can cast Utsusemi and let the timer run down before you start losing shadows.

Two side notes: first, mobs with double attack will mess you up when counting shadows. Don't be surprised if you lose your last shadow and get hit before you can put up more. Second, note that if a mob misses you, you don't lose a shadow. So it's possible to keep the one shadow you have left when you recast Utsusemi. However, this isn't a problem - the new Utsusemi will replace the old one, and you'll still have 3 shadows right away.

I can't believe Square-Enix still hasn't added guitars so that ninjas can wail on them after flipping out and totally cutting a mob's head off.

No no no ... not guitars. A drum set needs to roll in from like ... well ... somewhere. The ninja needs to cast invisible, walk over to the drum set and become visible again, then do a drum solo until the puller comes back with another mob. Although an invisible ninja with a guitar would look sweet. It just needs to have rockets shooting out of it.

<call3> is your friend <3

atleast I think <call3> is the drums ;|

Funny, but true. Thats how I played pre Ni, actually some might argue that this is still how I play... it's all about looks and coolness factor baby!! Which is why first time through Garliage when I died I jumped up after raise and ran out to pull with nothing but my few HP and 3 shadows... the response "OMG Mist, you r00l like doritos!" as we finished our chain 5 while I was still under raise effects is a testiment to the "coolness factor" of Ninja.

The whole reason I chose ninja before FFXI was even released in NA is because 2 blades look soooo much cooler than 'just' one.
