Nins who just use utsusemi and nothing else it is very difficult to keep hate. It nearly killed me numerous times in moon where rdm spamming dispel pulls lots of hate.

LOL, I guess you want them to spam elemental Ni spells? If you have never tried NIN then I can understand why you would think that this would help hold hate.

First of all, it's not the casting of the spell that causes hate, it's how much damage the spell does that pulls hate. And if you have ever played nin 60+ then by now your should realize that you Katana's do more damage than your Elemental Ni spells.

I'm not saying don't ever use them, but if all your doing is spamming spells and nothing more, then you are not gonna be holding hate for shit. I use my Elemental Ni spells for magic bursts (Whick unresisted still only do 108 damage tops) and to just fill the gaps. Our de-buffing spells are another story. Once again the de-buffing spells only pull hate if they stick. But honestly I spam at least Blind and Slow every fight, and usually stick them at about a 75% rate. Which in all honesty isn't too bad.

My suggestion would be to save TP for the beginning of the fights, that way you can slap the MoB with a Blade: Jin at the start of the fight for a little extra hate spike in the beggining.

But please note to yourself, spamming Elemental Ni spells is a waste of hate control, gil, and time.

I belive they are refering to Nin/War :\ anyways some of the elemental tools run about 4k pretty sad if u can even get a stack of that

My NIN is only 18 so bear with me here...

Can someone enlighten me and let me know if NIN elemental spells (or all of them, for that matter) skill-up the same way regular (BLM/WHM/SMN etc.) magic spells do? I know I was getting some skill-ups on my NIN spells, I just don't remember which. Could it be that most NIN's think elemental spells do nothing because they are higher levels yet their skills are way under cap?

Would something like the elemental charm ( http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?fitem=1477 ) help out at all?

Like I said, I am only 18 with my NIN but it seems like if these skills can be leveled then it might have a better effect on the mobs if they were capped.

Kriist, I don't think the ninja was using anything more than Utsusemi. I think Hrono meant he didn't use any debuffs like Hojo or Kurayami.

Yes, capping Ninjitsu would help increase damage from the elemental spells; however, due to a warrior sub, the spells damage is significantly lower. Its a magic spell so INT helps a lot with damage deal and subbing black mage and equipping INT gear and magic attack gear would help. All ninjitsu spells skill up the same but I would guess that if the spell is resisted then you get no skill up. Its much like Elemental Magic for black mage. Because you use it so often, you should not be very far from capped. At lower levels however, you do not have many spells therefore you do not cast a lot so you will be far from capped. I would also like to note that its a very bad idea to not have skills uncapped like that for any job. I believe interruption has a lot to do with you current skill level versus max skill level, so for a ninja with uncapped or worse very low ninjitsu skill could be very deadly.

Please read my post, I did not say that elemental ni spells don't do any damage. As a matter of fact, between levels 40 through 60 or so (depending on the person) the elemental ni spells do help out some. You can click here for a helpful explanation.

As for NIN/BLM, you get something that WAR sub doesn't give you: INT. INT helps out a lot with the amount of damage that elemental spells cause. I do swap in INT gear for when I do cast elemental ni spells, and even with my Moldavite the damage is weak.

My ninjitsu is always capped shortly after I level. You are spamming debuffs and utsusemi with an occasional elemental ni spell so much that it doesn't take long to cap out.

i had a nin tank one in tape Terrigan that spammed her elemental spells. and that was one of the better experiences with nin's i've had. and i perticulerly enjoyed the fact that my spells hit hi as well. i like thee save TP for the start of the next fight idea too. but from my experience (my nin is only 30 though) and from what i've seen the ni element spells help. but that alone wont keep your hate. so just mix it up.

See, I wan't 100% sure if they were all lumped into one general group called "Ninjitsu" or if they were broken into sub groups according to the type of "magic".

For example, you know how WHMs magic skills are broken into Healing, Enhancing, Divine... etc. And BLMs have Elemental, Enfeebling, Enhancing, Darkness...etc.

Well I guess NIN's lucked out in that department. LOL.

so how are we supposed to hold hate?... ur saying to only use elemental ninjitsu spells for mb's? and just use blind and slow every fight and hope ur katana damage + provoke every 30 secs keeps hate?... so what about throwing? is that a waste of time also? it takes longer to throw than it does to cast a ni spell right?

i pretty much throw everything i have at the mob the first 30 secs of the fight....

blind, provoke, elemental ni, recast utsusemi if needed, provoke again, and hate should be 'ok' by then....

im not bashing in anyway, but im just thinking we got the tools to use..and it dont take long to cast them? why not use them?

It was yesterday nights party and the nin was some japanese guy who was using x2 flourite rings, no harness (I know its a luxury) and a freakin life belt. He was casting no enfeebs at all and could not hold hate whatsoever.
