Nintendo Revolution gets a new name...

Wow... revolution was actually kinda cool (please note the kinda) Wii is kinda lame.... Interest in buying system -2.

Not a step forward imo. A name doesn't make the system but I can't help but dislike the change.

They can call it Dog Penis for all I care, if it has something on it I want to play, I'm getting it.

Yep, and that's all that freakin matters in the long run. Seriously, names have about as much importance as boxart. Which is, uh, none.

I think it's a great name, looks great spelled out too.

Yeah, that name definitely made me wrinkle my nose and say, "buhhh?"

Although, I had the same reaction when I first heard about the DS, but now I have one and play it religiously! Nintendo usually delivers, so I'm not too worried. The only one of their play dynamics that I couldn't stand was the gba/gcn connectivity. Albeit, very fun at times, but it was too inconvienent and impractical to last.

BTW Rappa, I love the Capt N & Lana avatar.

You know, as an adult I'm not supposed to go down slides.

So if I ever find myself up on top of a slide, I have to play it off like I got up there accidentally.

"How'd I get up here goddammit? I guess I'm gonna have to slide down."

Wheeeeeeeeee!

That's what you say when you're having fun... you refer to yourself, and some other people.

When I first heard about the name change, I was wondering why they didn't just stick with revolution, but based on their press release regarding why they changed the name it makes sense. It's an odd name to be sure, but they're actually putting some thought into the name of their console rather than just tacking a number onto it.

Anyway you look at it, Wii is still a better name than 360.

You can tell a name sucks when most of the Nintendo fanboys say "THE NAME DOESN'T MATTER" instead of "Screw you guys, Wii is an awesome name Nintendo can do no wrong lalalalalala."

It's a terrible name. It stinks of sleazy marketing gimmick (which they basically admitted to on CNN) that's riding on Apple coattails to try and be all nerd-chic. This doesn't totally rule out a purchase, but at this point unless the price point is sub-$150US and the catalog titles being free(or at the most $1-2) I can't think of a single reason to consider this on launch day.

what i do if want to buy one ....

"do you guys have wii? " ... in arabic too -.-

i stll going to call it rev

What a terrible name, I was going to get one too.
Im happy with my 360, but hopefully some good games will come out soon.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it.
*Nintendo's fishing skill rises .3 points*

I don't care at all, but that part just seemed a tad silly.

I'd rather they stuck with revolution for the name, but a poor name choice isn't going to stop me from buying the console. Anyone who gets turned off from buying the console soley because of Nintendo's choice of name is an idiot. Just call it the revolution and people will still know what you're talking about.

I am... hesitant about anything involving nintendo these days. After the bitter disapointment that has been zelda for the last... 10? years now, I really have lossed faith with the company. I wanted my zelda games... What happened to Ocrianica of Time 2? And that Shadow game... Never really did figure out what the hell was going on...

And now a system with some weird name with an even weirder controller? I really just do not see it being able to stand against the Xbox and the PS3. I see another Sega Saturn in the making.
