Nirvana

that is a good choice but i have to say i think my favorite song ever may be Oasis, Wonderwall. Don't know what it is about it but puts me in this really happy place every time i hear it. I really doubt anyone agrees with me though.

If songs can move you like those do, then it Is the best song ever. I'm not into nirvana like I used to be, but I liked the song "Sliver". GRANDMA TAKE ME HOME!

Hmm... I'll have to check this band out, never heard of them.

Lithium.
Also, the entire unplugged album (including the Lead belly and meatpuppets covers).

can i help remove the rock you are under? Lol, Nirvana is awesome you will enjoy i believe.

Also, i have their unplugged album, its awesome.

I personally can't stand hearing them on the radio now since the station I typically listen to play has a song of theirs on almost every hour it seems.

Although I liked "Breed" when I did enjoy listening to them.

I think they're one of the most overrated bands in history. I don't dislike them but they really weren't anything that special.

Gonna have to agree with Tag on this one... It could just be that the whole Grunge thing isn't really my genre(but honestly I love just about all music) but I'm not a huge Nirvana fan, could never get into'm.

I find the rock I'm under to be quite cozy, and I would prefer if you would leave me be. I grew up listening to nirvana along with the rest of the bands from the seattle scene, and I fucking love it to this very day.

You guys are nuts, imo. Nirvana wasn't overrated. The music industry was due for a change and the Grunge thing was it. They made more of an impact than Soundgarden did, than Pearl Jam did at the time, and more of an impact than Alice In Chains did, and so on. Of course, of the four, Pearl Jam has turned out to be the most... for lack of a better word... successful. Well, in longetivity, anyway. I'm not sure how you come to the conclusion that Nirvana was overrated. Are you talking musical talent or your own personal musical taste? How old were you when Nirvana was at their peak? These are all going to play a factor in whether you think bands are "overrated." I don't agree that Nirvana was and I don't agree that the Beatles were. Just because you're in the right time at the right place doesn't -always- make you overrated. It makes you an innovator to a certain point for people hearing something for the first time.

As far as favorite Nirvana songs...
I kinda liked the In Utero album. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter 4tw.

Thinking about it, I wouldn't really say that Nirvana was overrated, at least at the time they weren't. They gave that fresh breath everyone was looking for and changed a huge part of music, what I think tarnishes it now is all the bad publicity that surrounds that legacy. Of course I don't think I have to mention his wife and how she constantly makes an ass out of herself. What I also think contributes to people being sick of Nirvana is that EVERYONE plays them so...damn...much... Thats why I'm not into them anymore cause I'm sick of hearing the same few songs over and over.

As for The Beatles, I've honestly only heard a few songs by them and their music isn't very inspiring to me, but that doesn't mean they weren't legends. They just aren't my legends.

P.S. forgot to mention, I seriously had this dream about Kurt Cobain one time and he was singing a new song and I kick myself in the ass for not remembering it.

Nirvana - Rape Me

I'll always be a Foo Fighter > Nirvana type, but I'll admit my taste in music wouldn't have been the same without Nirvana.

Heart Shaped Box.

I know someone, who sometimes uses this board, who thought Heart Shaped Box was a song by Evansence, and Nirvana covered it.

I always like Nirvana's cover of that Tori Amos song, "Smells Like Teen Spirit"

OH oh, i misunderstood you than. I thought you said you had never heard of the band.

Nirvana had popular opinion behind them but Soundgarden formed 3 years before they did and AiC in the same year.

And yeah, I'm talking more about musical talent because they really didn't have that much of it other than Dave Grohl, of course.

lol. It was my feeble attempt at using sarcasm over the internet. Sadly, I apparently failed.

I've had some people try telling me that Cobain was one of the most talented guitarists of our time. I sort of agreed with them until I realized they were defining talent as technique. It took some serious explaining on my part to tell the other people in this group that a kid who has never played guitar before in his life could easily learn how to play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" (Learning actual musical notation is a completely different story). In my mind, what made him a talented guitarist was his creativity and innovation. It might not seem so creative/innovative now, but at the time he was changing rock music as we know it. I would without a doubt put Alice in Chains in this category as well as Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, but I believe the latter two bands were merely modernizing classic rock styles. Either way, I still love all 4 bands mentioned.
