NM claiming

See the problem most likely occurred when you used your macros. If you spam the same macros, with delay or no delay, it still takes time to activate. I camped a NM once and spammed my macros for a few seconds and got nothing until finally someone else claimed it. Couldn't figure out why, but when I used the macros once, it worked fine. Basically, when you use a macros there is already that built in delay and if you keep spamming the macros, you restart the delay but never actually get to the actual spell/ability.

Now when camping Mysticmaker Proflix, your first mistake was ever using a macros to begin with. The area he spawns in is so small you should be able to go into the spell or abilities menu (depending on your job) and target any mob without ever having to move. Since Mystic has no real PH and just pops on an automatic timer, stay in a central position until you see him pop, then use tab to target him and press enter on your spell/ability. There is no need to worry about the new delay on instant abilities, the reason being your is human reaction time is greater than or equal to that of the delay between popping and claiming.

Mish, steal does have a cool down time just like every other job ability. What you witnessed was most likely the THF mugging too early and using Steal directly afterwards for the claim. (Only the ability that you used too early - will receive this cool down time)

They never removed these changes. It has been implemented on all mobs, since they updated claiming.

Perfect example is the Spook. It is NOT a NM. It is a regular mob.

I can vouch for the Spook, as I was down there a couple nights ago. ~~~~~~~Old times. Scwall and I learned how to camp NM's thanks to the Spook.

It was our means of income, 30k for a mantle was a lot back then....Now they're 300k XD

Nothing has changed, we still pwn that camp. We felt pretty bad, being two high level characters..Only one CC..Sooo we invited the lil ~50WHM and let them take a mantle from our party treasure coffer, when it dropped.

LooooooooooooooooooooL @ everyone telling him to spam.

Scwall and I claimed Sozu Rogberry....maybe 100 times in the past few months.

Please listen. Do not use a macro. Only claim from your menu, otherwise randomly targetting will highlight other players. Targetting from the menu will only target monsters (it is much easier to target)

Using a Job Ability/Magic "too early" will result in a 2-3 second "cool down time" where you cannot use that ability/spell. This will only happen if you claim too quickly. The window of time where you can claim "too quickly" is completely random. You'll find out why my methods work well, as you read.

Some people say spamming Ranged Attack with Darts is succesfull....However Scwall and I proved that wrong.

The best way to claim.

Watch the monster pop.

DO NOT TARGET IT WHEN IT POPS!! (Remember the samurai event?)

After 0.5-1.5sec, provoke/flash/dia or whichever you have.

Please listen now, this is the most important part.

Have -another- means of claiming to be ready on the spot, this will save your ass if you claim too quickly.

1. Only claim from you ability/magic menu.

2. Go to your job abilities menu - highlight Provoke

3. Since you're PLD and I'm DRK. Go to your magic menu - highlight Flash (or Stun in my case)

4. Go back to your Provoke menu

5. Provoke the mob/NM 0.5 seconds after it pops (almost immediatly)

6. RIGHT AFTER your provoke - go to your Magic menu and Flash ASAP

7. Enjoy the fight and whatever drops.

The most important thing about this, is the time between your Provoke and Flash.
If your provoke is too early, you will have enough time to cast Flash.

The transition between your Job Abilities menu & Magic menu should be no more than 1 second. Otherwise you'll most likely be outclaimed. It requires quick fingers.

For an example:

THF has the best claiming methods now IMO. Everyone thinks Dia is "too fast" etc, but that is a load of crap.

Flee (when monster is about to pop) and line up Steal&Mug right next to each other on their menu.

What Dowzer said except you shouldn't have to wait for the delay. Unlike Sozu who pops alone in a room and is the only targetable mob, Mysticmaker is surrounded by other mobs, so you WILL need to tab which is sufficient to cover the delay between popping and claiming. Using the menu to claim is the correct method, but Mysticmaker won't necessarily pop in front of you which is where the menu will first target, the mob closest to you. If you knew exactly when Mystic was about to pop, then you could clear the room completely to get claim, but I find his pop time varies +/-10 mins and doing so only helps aid other campers. When camping you want to give yourself every advantage possible.

Exactly, the claim delay would most likely be gone by the time it is targetted...Thanks for clearing that up. However, you can still be too fast, so make sure to have another ability/spell ready to back you up.

Just hit it once...

/ja provoke <t>
/wait 1
/ja provoke <t>
/wait 1
/ja provoke <t>
/echo End.
It looks like /ma and /ra is not effected by the "nerf" that
was done to provoke... Neither is steal...

Good hunting!

This will not work. Once you try to provoke and you get the "xxx was unable to use w/e" message, there is a long wait before you can use that ability again.
