No Cake For You

As a Jew I'm fairly indifferent to some racist, somewhere in America being out there and trying to raise his family as such. It's not surprising and to me, it's actually pretty boring, if nothing else.

As an American I think the response is pretty... well, un-American. To me this is an issue of free speech, and when free speech occurs, there are going to be people who use it that I disagree with. All the death threats he's getting, and hell, death threats being sent to a completely different family with the same name need to stop. You've got to remember, free speech isn't there to let people on internet forums bash obvious targets like neo nazis. Popular speech doesn't need protection, unpopular, fringe stuff does. This guy and, more importantly, his innocent kids, and poor people who share the same need all just need to be left alone to sort their own shit out.

If you want to talk about dysfunction, there are plenty of fucked up people I know first hand that I'm not interested in talking about. Like I said, it's boring.

This didn't happen in America, did it?

this isn't really about free speech, this is about the foolish choice of what to name your children. Yes they can name their child whatever they wish, but do you think the choices of said names are wise? the kid already holds back when asked his name and he's only 3.

I read a news report somewhere.. I forget where.

Only name I remember was "Number 16 Bus Shelter"

No joke.. that was the kids name. Not as bad as Little Adolf but still.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone should name their children after Nazi leaders or Aryan ideals, but...

They took their kids away from them and they aren't saying why. Isn't that kinda fucked up? I mean... the kids looked healthy and happy. Leave them there and chances are they will just hate their parents after they grow up and realize they are wrong, right?

If the only reason they took the kids from the parents is because they named them after Hitler and his squad of goons, then someone needs to be fired. Hating someone's politics is not a reason to take away their kids. The parents are fucktards, but it doesn't mean they're dangerous, neglectful and abusive fucktards.

It probably would've been better if Social Services just gave them a court order to rename the child, but maybe it was in the best interests of the child, give him a new name and new life and he'll have a better chance of going through school without being socially distant from other students because he was named after the most vile creature that ever lived.

Can you imagine how much of a hell that child would go through if he actually went to school named Hitler? It'd be worse than the bullying done in England's "Education" system!

It seems like a knee jerk response just to take their kids away since they really didn't say why the kids were taken away. Yeah they shouldn't have named the kids like they did but I agree that a court order to change the names would have been enough. Someone had to file the name somewhere when they choose it. Why wasn't it brought up then? Yes people have the freedom to name their kids what they want but if it was going to be an issue someone should have noticed it then.

I don't see how that would be better, really. There's no reason why the state should be ordering anyone to change their name. People name their kids after stupid shit all the time. If the kids don't like it, they can certainly have it changed legally when they reach adulthood. It's not that hard to do. Hell, my barber had his changed a few years back because he hated his dad so much he just couldn't stand sharing the name anymore. And of course women do it all the time when they get married.

Theres kids in worse situations that still manage to be in the house they're living at.

Everyone is assuming that it's -just- the name that they acted upon. Just because they didn't comment on why the children were taken, doesn't mean there wasn't another reason. If you read the history on this family they don't seem all that stable. Not sure we can all jump and assume it was just the name that caused action right now.

or they could grow up with all kinds of nazi bullshit shoved down their throat and turn out just as racist and fucked up as their parents.

i cant say I'm for 100% free speech when i comes to naming your children.

because free speech pertains to speaking for YOURSELF. these sickos weren't speaking for themselves. they are labeling their children with their fucked up racism, and forcing those kids to go threw the rest of their lives with their parents "free speech" tacked on em.
Free speech my ass

You guys are funny. Seriously.

I'd comment honestly, but I'll clearly piss off the whole world.

You guys should just read some books sometime.

And I don't mean the ones that were selected for you in high school.

I think all I mean is that all of this ^ is moot.

You think licensing breeding is going to eliminate stupidity or racism? In reality it will probably generate new kinds of stupidity and new kinds of hatred. Plus the already stated fact that it will be hard to control. You can take a look at China, where regulated breeding to control the population (not stupidity or hatred) is -somewhat- of a success, but of course only the people who are smart/successful members of society follow the rules. The stupid, hateful and desperate people will not. It's part of our genetic programing to breed, though with our cognitive powers we're capable of suppressing or releasing that urge in other manners (protected sex). The only real solution to population control and weeding out the people we don't want in our perfect world is the same that it has been for 3000+ years. Killing each other. Hate is integral to that. It will never go away, only replaced by new people to hate.

You can flame me all you want. History will probably prove you wrong.

Meh unfortunately I think the 'weeding out' of the stupid is not by way of killing each other off. For the most part those that hate so passionately are usually the 'weak', they're the cowards. I see no solutions to 'weed' out the stupid, produce more educated citizens across the board so they have a stronger strain to pass on.

Those that are killing each other off aren't necessarily the 'stupid', they are those that lack regard for human life (they are also cowards).

Population control is another discussion all together, not getting into that.

I'm not talking about population control or about killing anyone, I'm talking about taking the kids away from 2 parents who in my opinion have more then proven themselves unfit to raise kids

as for reading books, I read plenty of books, often and I'm not sure how that has anything to do with anyone's opinion on this subject

I meant read about Hitler, WW2, economics, politics, history. Not dragons and wizards.

Also, I only brought up population control because it's the only current (modern) plan of licensing breeding, which (btw) was being talked about, but for a different reason.

When push comes to shove, higher education isn't going to produce a stronger strain of humankind. I have this argument regularly with my smart friend who is ugly and can't get laid. We are still susceptible to survival of the fittest and in the modern world there is an illusion that educated people are more fit to survive, but not if they are weak or sickly. The Stephen Hawkings of the world aren't going to put up much of a fight when asked to defend themselves.

We can look again to the "cultural" revolution of China where the educated men were rounded up and killed. Doesn't make a lot of sense to kill every doctor in the country, but hey why not. Like I said, history is going to prove you wrong if you try to say that stupidity and/or hatred can be overcome by any means.

Switching back to the subject at hand, I think naming your child Adolf Hitler is wrong, but for the same reason that I think naming your child Buddha, Jesus Christ or perhaps even Muhammad is wrong. Certainly not because they were megalomaniacal mass murderers. It's disrespectful to the (large) groups of people for whom the name has a meaning. I don't think naming a child Adolf is wrong. I don't think there's anything wrong with the name Hitler if it is traditionally in your family lineage (though it doesn't make for a very appropriate first name) but the combination of the two is insensitive. It spits in the faces of people who have died for their beliefs. That part holds true for the others. People have died for the names I listed, whether for good or for evil (which is decided by history rather than a bunch of forum hoppers societal notions of right and wrong).

That's the only reason I think it's wrong. It shows a lack of character, at most, but without further evidence I don't see how you can found statements that their children should be taken away. There should be more to the story that I'm not privy to in order for that to be justifiable. Nazi paraphernalia also doesn't rank up there. There has to be some kind of abuse involved and it may be arguable that the name Adolf Hitler is a relative form of mental abuse, but that's really for the courts to decide because as far as I know it's not illegal to use that combination of names (I could be wrong about that, too, but it seems unconstitutional if it is illegal).

Yes, we're aware Hilter was a genius tactician that, through his charisma, helped unite the country and pull Germany out of the destitute state it was in after World War 1 in to prosperity. Even though he scapegoated most of the countries problems on to ethnic minorities. The good he did do doesn't make up for the mass genocide and plan for global domination.
